Knicks 2010: The Prelude
2009, October 29

The New York Knicks have many hopes for the year 2010. Most of these hopes lie in the illustrious free agent market this off-season. There is only one problem, between now and then the Knicks must play a grueling 82 game schedule in much improved Eastern Conference. GM Donnie Walsh has done everything he could up until this point in cutting cap space and keeping players happy. This season brings hope and many of the players feel they can climb into a playoff race.

The New York Knicks have silently put themselves in position to compete in a couple of years. Donnie Walsh is building a team that will bless Madison Square Garden with more than 20 victories a season in a couple of years.

MarbsDo you release Stephon Marbury or make a trade with his expiring $20 million contract? I am not going to pretend to understand all the rules that would torpedo this possibility, but the question is an important one because it decides of the New York Knicks are rebuilding or not.

Just how bad are they going to let things get in NY?

I have not written in quite a while, things have gotten so bad that even the most die hard NYK fan such as myself can not stand to watch his beloved team anymore. So what will it take to MEANINGFULLY change the current state of affairs in NY?
Knicks look good in preseason! Biggest test still to come.

Knicks looking good after two preseason wins over Philadelphia (101-92) and Maccabi Tel Aviv(112-85). In both wins the Knicks performed well. With contributions from the starters and the bench, as well as some valuable contributions from the rookies. But these wins didn't come against the "NBA elite" They came against a struggling NBA team and against a foreign team. Yes they crushed Tel Aviv, and that was bound to happen. The Knicks are an NBA team.
