The Portland Trail Blazers are working toward securing Marcus Camby to a contract extension, according to sources with knowledge of the talks.

Sources said Monday that the two sides had already been negotiating toward a new deal that would keep Camby off the free-agent market this summer.

One source said a deal, if completed, would likely span two years in excess of $20 million.

Camby teamed with Andre Miller to spark the Blazers to a 105-100 victory Sunday night over the third-seeded Phoenix Suns.

Portland acquired Camby before the trading deadline from the Los Angeles Clippers after losing centers Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla to season-ending knee injuries.

Although the Blazers remain hopeful that Oden can still have a productive career after missing the bulk of two of his first three NBA seasons, they have been pleased with Camby's immediate impact. According to sources, they're determined to lock him up before has the chance to become a free agent July 1.
One source said Monday that the Blazers have been hopeful of reaching an extension with Camby since acquiring him from the Clippers.

update: 95.5 The Game is confirming Camby has agreed in principle to a two-year deal worth $25 million, pending league approval.

I wanted Camby but I didn't think he would cost that much... don't want him at that number.

Just goes to show you that we have no idea how much money these free agents will be offered.

If you are an NBA free agent you are smilling, because Camby and Manu have set the market very high.

If the Camby deal is at 2 years 25 mill. David Lee is going to demand 14 mil per easily

So now donnie just gotta focuse A deal to bring Okafor would be very good for the Knicks.

Okafor + Bosh, Amare, Boozer or Lee would form an excellent combination.

Curry for Okafor + pick in 2010

Curry + Chandler + 3M for Okafor + Collison + pick in 2010 or 2011

Two deals possible.

Curry+ Lee= CP3, Okafor.

then sign Lebron or Bosh.
Starting line-up would be either of the 2
Paul/TDoug
Chandler/Walker
Gallo/Walker
Bosh/Gallo/Barron
Okafor/Barron

Paul/tDoug
Chandler/Walker
Lebron/Walker/
Gallo/Barron
Okafor/Barron
+ any picks from this draft, and our team is set. these lineups can run and play some d.

Good for them! I know I am going to get killed for this, but I never wanted Camby to come back to the Knicks.

After the chaos for Camby's departure from the Knicks, and Camby wanting to sue the Knicks medical staff, I doubt if Camby wouldve ever returned to the Knicks.

Knick fans need to start doing what D'Antoni been doing a lot of PRAYING. This has always been a high stakes poker game gutting your team of players and draft choices to make a splash in the 2010 FA market.

Good for Camby that's a good deal for someone his age, he's played well for the Blazers and I see him as a starter ahead of Oden and Pryzbilla next year. He made a difference in them beating the Suns without having Brandon Roy.

No way I wouldve given him 20 million in two years

I was thinking more along the lines of 3 years 15 million

If he gets that from Port.....more power to him!

Old feelins of Camby in a Knick uniform in the playoffs

Last year I recall calling our 2010 Plan a Los Vegas slot-machine plan....boy did that piss alot of peeps off.

Whew! didnt Portland Blazers "Camby and Miller" do their thang in the first game vs the Suns in Phoenix (reminding me of the same two players on Denver Nuggets vs Spurs playoffs during Carmelo first two seasons in the NBA). Winning the first game of the series.
I'm sure Portland coach Mcmillian was feelin the lost of Oden, Pryzbilla, and future star Brandon Roy before the playoffs but.....having experience playoff veterans PG-Miller and C-Camby step-up their performance for a WIN..... sure added alot of relief to coach Mcmillian lockerroom speech in convincing the other players on the roster this is the time to step-up your level of performance.

Signing Marcus Camby could be the missing veteran coach center to "Tutor" Oden and Pryz on becoming Portland's consistent "stopper" the two bigmen been showing the potential of having on and off in the past.
Bright move for Portland and another lost treasure of the Knicks (Camby, Kurt Thomas, and Nene, all in the playoffs this season)...

We are not even in the month of May and Kobe, Ginobili and Camby have already signed contract extensions with their teams. Not that I wanted any of those 3 players to join the Knicks, but this could end up being a very long and disheartening summer for Knick fans.

this is the first of probably a laundry list of dissapointments for Knick fans....

watch the Boston assistant defensive specialist get an extension, Chris Mullens gets an extension as GM for the Warriors....

Lebron, D Wade, Bosh, Amare, Boozer, all stay and Lee moves on

This horrible scenerio can easily happen....only Bosh is almost a guarantee to leave. And personally Bosh at 17 million is not better than Lee at 10-12 Million...just paying millions more for a little bit more talent...

Lee and Bosh in the front court would be fine a guess...having Bosh play out of position at Center would be the only "savior" scenario we have to make a playoff push next season.

It's called taking care of bussiness (TCB).
The Knicks last two offseasons of doing nothing should scare all the Knick-Fans for the 2010 offseason....waiting untill October to resign Lee and Nate makes one skeptical of the waiting period this offseason to sign the first FA...

Things aren't going to go as planned... rather, as 'expected' .. which is why Donnie has never said any specific players.. that and because he can't legally hah..

Stripping the team down to a few players is a daunting thing to do.. but lets not lose our heads when a few random players sign here and there.. we're going to get a few people that will help this team out, and the way i see it, regardless of who/what happens, we'll be better after this off season then we were at the beginning of the season

The days of trading for Larry Hughes type players is over, and i'm sure we'll get some young and talented player to build off of, hopefully a few being some notable names..

Like am not really sweating it some might say is lebron or bust i see it diffrently their are many diffrent players to work with ... Donnie has accomplished everything he said so far the last thing he need to do is get the knicks the right players to come... If we do strike out on the big tickets then i see donnie do more of a sign and trade come maybe draft day or down the line...plus i still see melo in ny thats just me
