Whatever happened in Denver?

first thing i did, i started to check the results, and while reading the articles, i'm noticing that everybody is revolted after nuggets' loss 112-113 against the lakers, with the help of the refs. if any of you saw the game, please let me know what happened out there.

the following lines are from nuggetshoops.com:
Carmelo is standing there holding the basketball - and he would have either dunked it or brought it out so that the Lakers would have been forced to foul.

The referee's huddle and decide that yes it was an inadvertant whistle. They award the Lakers a jump ball at half court, even though Carmelo had possession of the ball when the whistle blew. Shaq won the tip with Nene, and with the Nuggets scrambling on defense to cover Kobe and Shaq - rookie Kareem Rush was left open for a three-point attempt with 3 seconds left. He nailed it. The Nuggets inbound the ball and from just inside half-court, Andre Miller's prayer hit the front of the rim and fell short, just like the Nuggets.

A new all-time record crowd of 19,812 people stood stunned and angry. People started throwing food and the remainder of their beverages at the court, and three uniformed police officers came out and escorted the refs to the exit. Coach Bzdelik was hopping mad - more mad than I have ever seen him. Assistant coach T.R. Dunn had to restrain him to keep him from going after the refs. It was an ugly scene to end a great, great game.

Don't get me wrong - I'm heartbroken from this loss - the first time the Nuggets have lost 4 in a row this season, and with a 15 point lead at one point in the second half, it really was looking good. The Nuggets outplayed the Lakers much of this game, but the wild span of less than 2 minutes was their downfall.

The refs LOVE L.A.! Remember a couple years ago when that woman ref gave Kobe that call on Bibby where she said Defensive foul, but it was Offensive???? See what happened??? The Kings would have won it all that year!!

(join the site....I need to have a fellow Knickerbocker in there with me!!!)
It's unlike Laker fans to complain about officiating, but last night was terrible. Shaq's ejection cost us the game... I'll post up a clip on the BS they called him for so you can judge for yourselves later. :)

PS, you've actually got some Knickerbockers over there with you-- join in on the invasion, y'all!

It's tough to be objective when it comes to officiating and your team.

It sure looked like Shaq could have avoided squashing Kirilenko with that second elbow. Kirilenko is a defensive pest like Bruce Bowen and I can imagine Shaq was frustrated at that point in the game.

I think the concern I have is that some of the bigger market teams seem to recieve more favorable calls. The Sacramento Kings are a great team that have just missed the finals a few times in recent years. They are not a big-market team like the Lakers. Coincidence? I hope not... :)

For you Knicks fans here, there is still the rumor that gets brought up around draft time that the Knicks were handed Patrick Ewing by new commissioner David Stern.

Please don't tell me you're gonna jump on the Sacramento "Queens" bandwagon and say they haven't made it to the finals because of bad calls. That's what all their fans think.

I think the 2nd technical COULD have possibly been intentional (although I still think it was an accident), but with the first one, there was no chance.

Don't worry, I'm definitely not on their bandwagon - just an example. The Nuggs hopefully will be playing the Kings if we can hang onto the Eighth spot in the west. They become mortal enemies at that moment! :)
