Well with only 1 day and 12 hrs to the trade deadline I figured we could use a thread recapping some of the moves other teams make and how the affect us. Also this can be used as the prediction thread of what moves you think Donnie will make by tomorrow or a little there after:

After nearly two months of trying to find a trade for him, the New Jersey Nets are near an agreement to send Troy Murphy to the Golden State Warriors for Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The trade is expected to be completed on Wednesday, but could still become larger with the inclusion of Nets point guard Devin Harris into a three-team package ? most likely with Portland or Dallas, sources said.
The Warriors, who would also receive a 2012 second-round pick from the Nets, will buy out the remainder of the $12 million owed Murphy in the final year of his contract and allow him to become a free agent.
Murphy, a 6-foot-11 forward, has the interest of several playoff contenders, including Orlando, Dallas, Miami and Boston, sources said. His 3-point range and size make him attractive to playoff teams.
After Murphy was traded to the Nets from Indiana in the preseason, he fought injuries and ultimately failed to fit into coach Avery Johnson?s plans. Murphy played just 18 games before the Nets allowed him to leave the team on Jan. 7 and await a trade.
Adrian Wojnarowski, 10:25 p.m. ET, Feb. 22
Why wouldn't we go after Murphy???? The guy is pretty much 7 ft. tall and can hit the 3 point shot. I'd love to pick him up. Donnie! Pounce on him (pause) now!

How it can be done: Just sign him for vets minimum. He could get significant playing time with how small we our. And we know D'antoni loves bigs who can shoot.

The Kings, sources say, are open to moving big man Samuel Dalembert before the deadline, but they remain unwilling to take back anything other than expiring contracts to preserve maximum flexibility on the other side of a new collective bargaining agreement, unless someone wants to donate a star. With Dalembert possessing an expiring contract valued at $13.4 million, it?s not easy to find a match that keeps the Kings in the same cap position as they are now.
A deal for Sam is possible, but we'd have to part with Ronny. As much as I love the guy he gets injured so much and is undersized nearly everynight to play the 5. Besides Dalembert brings what Ronny does plus more length, size, scoring ability, and just better overall defense.

How it can be done: Send Turiaf,Azubuike,Rautins,Mason, and sign some last scrub to make the salaries work.(need another 1.73 million to make it work)

With the Knicks currently having an open roster spot, and the severe need of a center, sources indicate the Knicks have turned their attention to free agent and former Knick Earl Barron. Barron played the last seven games with the Knicks? last season, averaging 11 points and 11 rebounds. Another source reported that Barron has patiently been waiting since his release on December 22′d from Phoenix for the Knicks to open a roster spot for him. Now that it?s open, look for the Knicks to sign Barron.
The 6-11 center would provide much needed depth on the front-court and would give both Turiaf and Stat much needed blows at times. He would also be the tallest man on their roster, too.
Would be a solid pickup. He could be like a Joel anthony if you will for us. He and Troy, if we could sign him, would give us two 7 footers that can step away from the basket and rebound. Frontcourt depth would be covered up pretty much for the rest of the year.

How it can be done: It's pretty much well known were going after Earl so, GET ER' DUN DONNIE!

The Hornets are close to completing a trade for Sacramento Kings forward Carl Landry, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Kings will receive guard Marcus Thornton and cash from New Orleans. The deal is expected to be finalized on Wednesday.
The Kings held Landry out of Tuesday?s loss in Miami. Sacramento coach Paul Westphal told reporters Landry didn?t play because he was involved in trade talks.
Landry has one year left on his contract at $3 million.
? Marc J. Spears, 11:29 p.m. Feb. 22
This could be a solid move by the Hornets especially come playoff time. To think this is all to keep Chris Paul happy lol.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have inquired about Memphis Grizzlies center Hasheem Thabeet(notes), but haven?t decided on making an offer for the 7-foot-3 bust out of UConn. Thabeet was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft and shuttled between the NBA?s Developmental League and the Grizzlies? bench.
The Nuggets also have expressed interest in Thabeet.
? Adrian Wojnarowski, 7:10 p.m. ET, Feb. 22
Well...meh

Word is Bulls have NOT abandoned hope of striking deal for OJ Mayo and now have one more first-round pick to peddle after James Johnson deal-via Marc Stein
This would hurt big time! The Bulls fully healthy with Mayo would be very very dangerous.

The Chicago Bulls are still pursuing shooting guard Courtney Lee, offering a first-round draft pick to the Houston Rockets, sources said.
Chicago could make the offer more intriguing with the addition of the Miami Heat?s 2011 first-round pick that the Bulls acquired from Toronto for forward James Johnson on Tuesday. For now, the Rockets are determined to bring back size and want Bulls center Omar Asik in any package for Lee.
The Bulls are determined to find a shooting guard before Thursday?s deadline.
? Adrian Wojnarowski, 2 a.m. ET Feb. 23
Well if they strike out on Mayo this could be even better for them. Lee would hurt also if they get him for relatively cheap.

I'm told there's a 100 pct chance of Devin Harris being traded. Dallas and Portland likeliest spots. Mavs offer Caron's exp contract.-via Chris Broussard
Only The Nets would hire a coach that clashed with their 2nd best player before only to have them do it again.

I'm trying to nut out a way that we can get Dalembert using our trade exception, but hoopshype.com hasn't updated our salary sheet (they have, of course, done Denver's)

That's a move we should make now considering his contract is expiring, and we can save SAC:teeth: a lot of cash with 27 games left in their season.

We're in dire need for a big after The Gov's exit and heading in to the playoffs, pushing for a first round W.

●If you get a look at the Knicks' current salary sheet, please post it in here. 2 days to go!

:alert:EDIT:I have now read that we CAN package a player along with a complete TPE. So we can go after Dalambert, and in turn leave the Kings with a trade exception in the remainder.

BUT, in a bid to procure the services of DeAndre Jordan, that trade exception might come very much in handy. We'd have to pry him from the lifeless hands of the Clipper management, however, as he is a RFA.

Would love either one of them, but why would NJ trade for them & buy them out?

The Utah Jazz have agreed to deal All-Star point guard Deron Williams(notes) to the New Jersey Nets in a trade that will send Derrick Favors(notes), Devin Harris(notes) and two first-round draft picks to Utah, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
As reported Tuesday, the Nets are also close to receiving forward Brandan Wright(notes) and center Dan Gadzuric(notes) from the Golden State Warriors in a separate trade that sends the Warriors forward Troy Murphy(notes). New Jersey will also send $3 million to the Jazz.
The two picks the Jazz receive are the Nets? 2011 first-round selection and a 2012 first-rounder the Nets had acquired from the Warriors, which is protected through the first seven picks.
After chasing Carmelo Anthony(notes) for six months ? including three near-agreements with Denver ? the Nets? deal for Williams came together in 24 hours, sources said. The Jazz were involved with the Nets in October as part of a potential four-team trade that would have sent Anthony to New Jersey, but Williams had not been included in that deal.
A two-time All-Star point guard, Williams had been unhappy with the Jazz?s lack of progress this season and the organization believed that he would leave as a free agent in 2012. His deteriorating relationship with Jerry Sloan played a part in the Hall of Fame coach?s decision to retire earlier in the month.
Williams had seen several teammates leave through free agency or trades, and the Jazz struggled to gain traction this season while several players, including Williams, coped with injuries. Carlos Boozer(notes), Kyle Korver(notes) and Wesley Matthews(notes) all signed with other teams last summer.
Williams, 26, had no indication he would be traded to New Jersey, and hasn?t had time to even digest the deal ? never mind consider an extension with the Nets.
Still, New Jersey will try to persuade Williams to sign an extension, but it remains to be seen how quickly, if at all, he?ll embrace the idea of a long-term deal with the Nets. The earliest he can sign an extension is this summer, provided the league hasn?t entered a lockout.
Nevertheless, Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has been determined to upstage the New York Knicks with something beyond clever quips and giant billboards. Finally, on the day of Anthony?s introductory news conference and possible debut at Madison Square Garden against Milwaukee, Prokhorov made his most dramatic statement as owner with the Williams trade.
Harris, meanwhile, had embraced the Nets? efforts to try to trade him. After Harris pushed for the Nets to hire his former coach, Avery Johnson, the two had a difficult time working together, and Harris? production declined across the season. The Nets discussed deals with multiple teams, including Portland and Dallas, sources said.
Proky has brass nuts. I have gained a new level of respect for the dude bigtime after this move.

Tight thread.

Andre Kirilienko. We could get him for the bag of Happy Meal coupons Curry accidentally left in the Knick's cafeteria.

Longterm, he could even be viable. He is an expiring.

Defensive expert, 6'9 but pretty beefy and can *easily* play PF (or sf)...And as a virtual Point Forward if we are inclined.

Dare I say, with him at PF, STAT could most ably play the 5, given AK47's defensive acumen. Thus softening the blow when we can't pry Jordan (or any legit starting 5) this offseason. We this focus one more complimentary value big (Glen Davis, who incidentally can play the 5 in liu of STAT); and solidifying a 6th man/pg rotation player.

We also pay final homage to The Gov, and infuse some Rooskie blood back into us. Closure.

Billups eventual expiring, and freedom to trade more picks, should let us beef up PG and a killer 6th man further.

Wizards guard Kirk Hinrich close to being dealt to the Hawks in multi-player trade, source tells Y! Sports.
Def a solid move by Atl, but not a earth shattering move to make them better than Chicago or us.

Miami has been trying to pry Brendan Haywood, offering Mike Miller as part of package, but Mavs have consistently resisted, source says.
If they got him and we didn't I'd be mad pissed.

Minnesota is showing an interest in Utah guard Raja Bell, a league source tells Y!
Well they shipped Deron off so who cares.

Portland is pushing hard and getting closer to completing a deal with Charlotte for Gerald Wallace, a league source tells Y! Sports.
Would be a nice pickup for them.

I think we gotta make the swap for Dalembert if all they want is an expiring contract?

We got Anthony Carter, Mason, and Azubuike all on expiring contracts. Swap Mason for Dalembert and we are straight up set.

The Atlanta Hawks are making progress toward their first move of note in the Eastern Conference arms race.
The Hawks are negotiating the final points of a deal with Washington that would bring veteran guard Kirk Hinrich to Atlanta for the stretch run, sources close to the situation told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.
Sources told ESPN.com that the latest version of the deal would send veteran guard Mike Bibby, rookie guard Jordan Crawford, swingman Maurice Evans and a 2011 first-round pick to the Wizards for Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong.
Hinrich was brought to Washington to mentor prized rookie John Wall, but the former Bull has been coveted by the Lakers and other playoff teams since it became apparent that the Wizards would fall out of playoff contention early.
The Hawks have done very little to change their roster in a conference where Boston, Chicago, Miami and New York have made major upgrades since last season. Hinrich will bring some needed depth and versatility to Atlanta's backcourt as the Hawks try to make a run at a top-four seed in the East -- or at least ensure that they don't slip lower than No. 5 after New York's acquisition of Carmelo Anthony.
I think the Hawks are losing a little much in this deal just for Hinrich. They are swapping Bibby for him which is an upgrade, but loosing Maurice Evans and Jordan Crawford will hurt especially if Joe Johnson or Jamal Crawford get hurt.

I dunno if I'd call that having balls or just being stupid. More like the latter. I don't see any way D Will is gonna stay in NJ past next season, especially now with the way he got blindsided by this deal. Just assuming though, maybe he's happy about it who knows. Doesn't seem like players were all too eager to stay in Utah of late. Anyone hear anything from D Will on his feeling about this deal yet?

ATL & WAS completed a trade:

ATL gets Kirk Hinrich & Hilton Armstrong
WAS gets Mike Bibby, Jordan Crawford & Maurice Evans

Not sure why ATL did this, I think they get weaker with this deal. Bibby's #'s aren't great but he's always been a big shot maker. Hinrich isn't going to be as valuable in the postseason.

The Los Angeles Clippers and the Cleveland Cavaliers are in discussions about a trade that would send guard Baron Davis to Cleveland for guard Mo Williams, according to league sources. The deal is not close to being finalized and the teams will continue talking Thursday before the 3 p.m. deadline.
Davis did not dress for Wednesday?s game against New Orleans with what the team said was a sore knee. Williams returned for Cleveland just before the All-Star break after missing 13 games with a hip injury.
Though slumping from the floor of late, Davis has played much better of late for the Clippers after starting the season at odds with coach Vinny Del Negro when he came to camp out of shape.
The Cavaliers would be able to absorb Davis? $13 million salary by virtue of the large trade exception they received from Miami in the LeBron James sign-and-trade deal.-via David Aldridge
Hmmmm well this trade is a wash. Although next year the Clipps could be a playoff team. The Cavs atleast would have a name to market to Cavs fans.

So, are the Knicks in discussions to make another move?

There are very few quality big men who can rebound and block shots, so us getting Samuel Dalembert is highly unlikely especially since our expiring contract in Eddy Curry went to Minnesota.

I think we can convince one to sign in the off-season but for right now I think we'll get past the first round with our squad but not much else.
