Kemba Walker wants to play for the Knicks

Connecticut guard Kemba Walker would love to team up with Carmelo Anthony and play for his hometown team.
"It's special, a special place to play," he said. "Everybody dreams of playing in this place, the bright lights, everybody watching. It's just a special place."
Walker, who?s on pace to graduate this summer, has long followed the career of Carmelo Anthony.
"Carmelo Anthony has been my favorite player so wherever he goes, I go," Walker said when asking who he roots for. "I think about that all the time. I would love to not only play with him but play for this organization, just because I'm from here. But whatever happens, happens. I can't control stuff like that."
The Houston Rockets can swap first round picks with the Knicks in the 2011 draft so long as New York's 1st round pick is not the 1st overall selection.

Could be a nice sparkplug, buts that's all.

Is he going to replace/backup Fields? Doubtful, he's 5'10 on a good day.
Is he going to replace/backup Billups/TD/Carter? Possibly. Carter is old, and Kemba would be a good scorer to come off the bench. Kind of reminds me of Nate Robinson with less hops, but more of everything else.

I like the kid, but he's not going to be a Knick.

Well he's a point guard so hell maybe he could become our starter if we could somehow manage to get him and don't pick up Chauncy's option, this kid could ball

Unless he crashes and burns during march madness he will probably go top ten. That's sad since he wanted to play here and looks like he could have been our teams starting PG once Chauncy is done in a few years.

Well spoken, athletic, seems to play well under pressure, from NY, gives us a chance to find a big man in FA..... Id be OK with it, if we could figure a way to make it happen.

Still don't think Douglas is our future after Billups...

I don't think Kemba will go top10. Even after the Big East.

He can likely slip to us even if he does well in March.

Personally, we should be trading up regardless, to get him or Jimmers.

All things being equal I like Kemba better, but Jimmers would be a better fit for us right away.

Kemba would be a more skilled and useful 6thman of a Tony Douglas type player for us. Minus Tony's recent experiences and improvements.

We need Jimmers range versus Kemba slashing quickness.

Sorry but I don't think "range" is what we need. We have shooters... size is what we lack and its apparent everytime we play a team with 2 or more bigs. Why do we need more shooters??? I'm don't want to encourage this outrageous system any further.

We should get Chris Singleton, he's the best defender in the draft and is strong and if he can get a little more bigger he can be a better version of Dejaun Blair.

Strengths: A small forward with terrific size and length for the position … He is an explosive leaper and has next level athleticism … A very good player in transition, he runs the floor extremely hard and is able to finish plays above the rim in open lane situations … His upper body is well built, and he has the strength to move defenders on drives to the basket … Has developed into a formidable catch and shoot threat … With his feet set he can shoot the ball with range and fairly consistently knock down jumpers from deep … Shows the ability to make shots from the NBA three point line … His biggest impact is on the defensive end, where his size, length, athleticism and terrific instincts make him a lockdown defender … He possesses all the tools to be able to translate his defense to the NBA level … Can guard multiple positions … His ability to anticipate and jump into passing lanes combined with shotblocking, make him a very rare threat on the defensive side of the ball … He is a blue-collar player and is capable of impacting the game without needing the ball in his hands or getting plays called for him … A solid rebounder, he is especially good on the O glass, where he uses his length and athleticism to get to rebounds …

In all honesty I think we're gonna draft a center unless a really good prospect slips to our pick and even the I would be surprised if we didn't draft a center. If you look back over the last few years all we've done is try to improve our size through the draft. Except for Gallo as a favor to D'antoni (which turned out well). Then after Hill (who no one thought was a better pick than jennings) we got fields and Rautins who we're picked in the hopes of having good role-players to fit lebrons playing style. We then again took a chance on a big with Mozgov who while not great was able to break in D'antoni rotation.....

Will we succeed this time I don't know. However all we really need is a decent big to join the rotation next to Turiaf and J Jordan. Also the trick is not finding a big as much as finding a big D'antoni will play.....

Also the more I think about it the more I am sure we will acquire a PG in 2012 it may not be a superstar but there are a few good ones that year who could back billups up for decent money and possibly take over in 3-5 years when he retires.

Kemba doesn't bring any "size" man.

And Jimmers will let us use the size we have better.

Let Amare actually be the dominant, ruthlessly efficient inside scorer he is; and not be popping off 15ft jumpers like he is Troy Murphy.

We also really don't have that many, or arguably any, true shooters -- let alone ones with range. Melo is more a limitless creator who *can* shoot and has *decent* range; Amare is an inside specialist who *can* make mis range shots, but that should be to keep defenses honest and as a strategic 2nd option; Fields is versatile, and can hit clean shots well, but he isn't a shooter, and you'd rather not have him in that roles.

Just bc we do take a lot of shots, and have guys acting like shooters, doesn't mean they are -- or that we'd rather have them be that way, vs saving that job and duty for a guy like Jimmers.

Jimmers > Walker, tho I love Kemba and on a lot of teams I'd rather have him.

Douglas-Jimmers
Fields-Walker
Melo-Williams
Amare-Turiaf
DeanJ-Jordan

Triangle offense anyone? Haha...

What about Chris Singleton?

I like Singleton a lot. He's looked great in the FL games I've seen; and all the scouting reports seem pretty consistent on him.

Especially if he put on another 10-15lb...wow.

But for us right now....we need a legit NBA C in the worst of ways. And we need it now.

This basically means we don't re-up Chauncey. That in mind, we'd to add to our PG stables, especially a PG who could help immediately on the NBA level -- a la Jimmers.

Mid season, or free agency '12 we reevaluate need to bring in a more veteran PG....A Kyle Lowry...Ridnour type.

Center is so premium, for us especially, and so rare. This FA class is pretty ****ing stacked. We gotta pounce.

Singleton seems like an awesome pick tho if for whatever reason we don't trade up.
