Your vehemence is tiring.
Good luck on that one; because it's not about to happen. Walsh is an excellent GM.
You all hate on MDA 24/7, but forget the main & only reason why MDA coaches NY; because of Walsh.
So instead of trying to run MDA out of town; you all should "try" & run Walsh out of town. He's the only one responsible for MDA being here.
The fact of the matter is this: Walsh loved the success that PHX enjoyed under MDA & wants him as Knicks head coach. It's as simple as that.
Walsh is not about to "fire the coach" who knew NY would lose for 2 full seasons, during a time where NY has finially started to win during the 3rd year (as expected).
In less than 3 years; Walsh, MDA & Amare have this franchise relevant once again. We've drafted & developed real talents such as Gallo, Douglas, Mozgov & Fields. Chandler & Felton both blew up in NY under MDA. Landed 2 of the NBA's top 10 STARS in Amare & Melo; & the Knicks are headed to the playoffs for the 1st time since 04.
The Walsh & MDA era has just begun; so deal with it.
So is all of the MDA hate during just about each & every thread. You can deal with the MDA hate; but you cant deal with the truth surrounding MDA or fans who support him. Not my problem.
That still doesn't change the fact that our GM (Walsh) was the man who made sure to bring MDA to NY when he first arrived.
It's funny to see some people make comments such as "MDA must go" or "Fire this bum" but yet, fail to not only know & understand but also talk about the fact that an excellent NBA GM in Walsh is RESPONSIBLE for everything MDA related, for the simple fact... Without Walsh; there is no "MDA". Fact.
If Walsh was going to "fire" MDA, it would have happened a long time ago (2 years ago or even last year) but the fact of the matter is this: Both Walsh & MDA knew NY had no chance to win for 2 full years until they depleted the team.
An excellent GM in Walsh is not about to "FIRE MDA" during a time where he's leading NY to the playoffs for the 1st time since 04.
Get over / deal with / or enjoy it...
Walsh get hims a quick center. MDA doesn't play him. Walsh gets him Brewer. MDA doesn't play him. Walsh gets him a kid with some talent in Anthony Randolph (who also has size and can help solve our rebounding problem). MDA doesn't play him.
Wake up, Queens. MDA owes his success to Steve Nash and no one else.
I think the main reason Walsh went with Dantoni was because he was trying to lure Lebron...Otherwise i dont think MikeD woulda been his first choice. At that time (back in 08) Dantoni had just as good of a rep as any other coach not named Phil Jackson. There was actually a players poll where all the NBA players voted on what coach they would like to play for the most and Dantoni finished 2nd....perhaps because theres alotta players in the NBA that dont like playing defense
Walsh was responsible for hiring Mike...
Dolan was responsible for hiring Walsh...
and God was responsible for making Dolan.
Close thread, it fails. Then...
As I was saying: Walsh is not about to fire a good coach before giving that coach a chance to first upgrade a playoff team/roster into a serious contender out of the Eastern Conf during the offseason.
That would defeat the purpose of Mike D'Antoni being here during his first two years, when both GM & Head coach understood the Knicks had no chance in hell to win during his 1st two years.
Walsh did not lead MDA to NY " just to lose or ruin his career winning % as a coach". He led MDA to the Knicks to win.
He's not about to fire MDA before giving him a chance to turn the Knicks into an Eastern Conf Power House in the same types of ways that PHX ranked as a top 3 team out of the west behind only SA & LA during his 4 years in PHX with a .650 win% along with 4 consecutive trips to the playoffs of at least 54+ W's (2 years of 60+).
Just like the title reads: You all need to "try & run" Walsh out of town; because as long as Walsh is GM... MDA isn't going anywhere - anytime soon. It's really as simple as that.
Under 500 is relevant?
He developed Moz? Into what? Chandler was always a decent up and coming talent, Douglas doesn’t like coach much either, fields is still new, plus he’s been off and on lately, Felton’s game hasn’t change much since he left the Bobcats. Gallo is the only one that seems to be a product of the coach. The best thing Walsh was able to do for the Knicks was to straighten out the books. The coach did nothing but drafted Gallo and makes us lose to weaker teams…even when we score more than 100 points.
Before and after Walsh, the Knicks players were going through revolving doors. So you really can’t expect much from a team with a roster of players that hardly know each other. Marbury didn’t have a supporting cast, and when we did started to see some gelling in Crawford and Zach… they were traded off, this put us right back in the losing column due to the team’s lack of chemistry, again.
The team we had earlier in the year was never going to be true contenders because we didn’t have the go to guys and/or the experience. Now we have a bit of both but the coach has a serious problem with coaching these guys to their strengths. Instead he is stubborn and steadfast on making them play the way he wants them to play. He either can’t adapt or is too obstinate in his faulty ideas of the NBA/NY balling. His system is so flawed I can poke holes in it all day. It only serves a roster of all stars because each person on an allstar team can take that open shot…plus the allstar is most likely talented enough to hold his own on defense. Since the trade the Knicks had one practice but had the opportunity to conduct at least 15 short ones. He spends valuable time on his TV talk show during the season, he doesn’t have a defensive mind set nor does he have an assistant defensive coach. I mean, what exactly is the coach’s brother doing on the bench anyway? The coach wears out his players by giving them too many minutes all the while running them ragged in an up-tempo offense at the same time using man2man defense…all game, plus plays them out of their natural positions, wtf. When he does decide to play the bench they appear to be too rusty, partly because they hardly see any floor time.
This team can be very dangerous but that might not happen until there are some coaching changes. IMO, judging from the coach’s facial expressions and body language…he seems less enthusiastic since the trade, and might just be buying his time before the ax comes down. I see no inspiration in the players or the coaching staff. And they have the nerve to double the ticket prices…
I know it takes time to get a team to play well together, but they never will when the issues clearly lie in the way the coach is doing his job. Just look at the way the Denver Knicks are playing under a different coach. D’Antoni needs to take his style back to the Euro league because it clearly isn’t working here. I tried to be patient.
lmao @ Walsh brining Amare to NY.
Yes; Walsh is a huge reason Amare is here, but so is MDA; you know, the same coach that led Amare to the playoffs during 4 consecutive trips to the playoffs. If Walsh never took note of how Amare beasted under MDA in PHX; Amare wouldn't be in NY right now. To say MDA wasn't a part of Amare coming to NY speaks volumes of hatred.
Funny how you say Nash is the reason for the success of MDA. Sounds just like fans who said Amare wouldn't be Amare without Nash. Amare proved them wrong. The Knicks winning & ranking as a top 2 offense this year with Felton running the point just goes to show that MDA doesn't "need Nash". Try again hater.
Those types of remarks just goes to show you know nothing about MDA or the PG position. MDA was voted as the Italian Leagues all-time greatest PG in 1990 after leaving as the Italian Leagues all-time leading scorer. "Steve Nash". Do so research. Add some insight for once. Stop sounding like a foolish 10 year old when talking to men about sports.
Saying that Walsh was the reason for landing Melo just goes to show how little you really know about that situation. Dolan was the main one responsible for the mid-season trade that depleted our above .500 roster.
We all know both Walsh & MDA would have rather waited until the offseason to land Melo while keeping prospects such as Gallo, Felton, Mozgov & maybe even AR. Chandler was the only one who was leaving during the offseason after the addition of Melo as a FA. Dolan was the one who wanted & made sure we landed Carmelo Anthony.
Superstars sell tickets & his #7 jersey sold out asap. It didn't take long for Dolan to jack the ticket prices up either.
"Walsh is responsible for the 2 superstars"? Too funny but yet sad. Do some research.
MDA wasn't a part of landing Melo? Ignorant.
MDA was the one who made sure to snatch Gallo from the Italian leagues. Walsh took his advice. Gallo was the #1 prospect involved with the trade for Melo. MDA was the coach who developed Gallo into the player DEN most wanted.
Saying this team will never win with the way MDA is "doing his job" is a load of BS.
MDA doing his job never stopped PHX from going to the playoffs 4 consecutive seasons during his first 4 years as head coach, winning @ least 54 games every year + two years of 60+ win seasons. Never stopped them from beating Kobe & the Lakers during the playoffs during back to back playoff series in consecutive seasons or splitting the two series with the Mavs or eliminating both the Grizz & Clippers. He did his job just fine & his playoff victories & .650 win% speak for itself.
Also stop trying to compare the Knicks to Denver guy. Gallo was our only returning starter from last year before the trade. The Knicks now have ZERO returning starters from last year. 60% of our starting 5 has been here for 16 or fewer games. TD is our only impact player who was under MDA last year.
Wake the hell up. Lawson, Martin, Nene, Birdman & JR Smith were all with DEN last year; most for much longer. All impact players for DEN. Big DIFF guy
Knicks to win back to back this weekend. I'm not that unimpressed at where this team seems to be going. The defence is picking up and consistency will kick in for those 4th quarters as well. I think we'll have a good showing over the final games.
When you start coaching up the players defensively, and motivate them to go out there and execute the gameplans, and make the necessary adjustments...like not creating extra possessions with the fast paced SSOL style offense when we have a lead in the 4th Q...then the fans will shut up...
But until then, get off the forums and go do your ****ing job. This ain't Phoenix, if you were the average, every day, person, like a guy with the screename KnicksfanfromQueens1985 that you're pretending to be...when you apply for a job, you would submit your résumé, list some references and hopefully you get the job....if you start consistently failing at the task & standards and show an incapability to adapt and get the job done...you'd get fired, no matter how impressive your résumé is....see...current employers don't give two ****s about what you did in the past for another company. It's "what have you done for me lately, and what are you currently doing for me."
So please....Mike....no more talk of the Phoenix days, ok? Phoenix is 2100 miles to the south west, this is NYC where you have shown an incapability to make the necessary adjustments to salvage some of these mind-boggling losses. It's been 2+ years, no adjustments, same style of losing.
You can understand why the fans would be tired of you, your mustache, and your brother...right?
You guys are the only types of "what have you done for me lately" or "love you when your up & kick you when your down" types of "fans".
Walsh & MDA both understood NY had no chance to win during their 1st two years in NY. Fans like YOU "expected" to win. Ughh!
If Walsh was a what have you done for me lately POS type of GM... MDA would have been gone a long time ago. Fact.
As I stated: Your beef is with the wrong man. You need to "try & run" Walsh out of town. As long as Walsh is in NY; MDA will be here for AT LEAST 3-4 years; because the Knicks are on the verge of winning for years to come under both Walsh & MDA.
We'll become a true contender come next year after we UPGRADE this current roster.
But the fact of the matter is this; he's not about to fire a good coach before giving that coach a chance to upgrade a playoff team into a serious contender during this up coming offseason.
The Knicks aren't a "team" right now; we're a team trying to learn how to play as a & become a better team.
