Crazy⑧s Thread Soundtrack

We've done it! We've reached the outskirts of the promised land. While this game may seem to come as a consolation, there is no doubt that we not only want to be a playoff team, but a team with a winning record for the first time since the Bronze Age, as well.

PREVIEW

The New York Knicks have clinched their first playoff berth in seven years, and they can now turn their focus to moving up a spot in the Eastern Conference.

Facing the short-handed Toronto Raptors should be a good first step.

The Knicks look to complete their first four-game sweep of their Atlantic Division rival since Toronto’s inaugural season Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

New York (38-38) certainly hasn’t looked like a championship contender since trading for Carmelo Anthony(notes), but it’s going to get its much-anticipated shot at an East heavyweight starting in two weeks. The Knicks have bounced back from a six-game losing streak by winning three straight, locking up the franchise’s first postseason berth since 2003-04 with a 123-107 victory over Cleveland on Sunday.

“That was the goal we set at the start of the season. The plan was to make the playoffs,” said forward Amare Stoudemire(notes), who had a game-high 28 points. “It’s mission accomplished and now on to the next one.”

New York is seventh in the East, 1 1/2 games behind Philadelphia, and it could catch the 76ers as soon as Wednesday when the teams go head to head.

The Knicks and Sixers will almost certainly face Miami and Boston in the first round, but those clubs are in a back-and-forth battle for the second seed.

The Knicks are 2-2 against the Heat and 0-3 versus the Celtics.

“Any time you accomplish a goal, you really have a sense of pride,” Stoudemire said. “After that game (Sunday) night, I felt extremely emotional. … But now it’s time to get back on track.”

New York hasn’t swept four games from Toronto (21-55) since 1995-96, and doing so again may not be easy. Prior to beating the Cavaliers and Nets over the past week, the Knicks had lost six straight to sub-.500 teams.

In addition, the Raptors are coming off an impressive victory in their second game without point guard Jose Calderon(notes) and center Andrea Bargnani(notes). A night after staying close before falling at East-leading Chicago, Toronto defeated Orlando 102-98 on Sunday behind 47 points from the starting backcourt of Jerryd Bayless(notes) and DeMar DeRozan(notes).

“Everybody is playing well right now,” said Bayless, who has scored 49 points in two games filling in for Calderon. “We’re playing well, moving the ball and everybody is touching it. It’s a fun way to play.”

Bargnani or Calderon may not play in any of the remaining six games and that would be good news for the Knicks, particularly in the case of Bargnani. He scored a career-high 41 points at MSG in a 113-110 loss Dec. 8.

Stoudemire has averaged 28.0 points and 13.3 boards against the Raptors this season, but he may have trouble dominating the glass Tuesday. Toronto forward Reggie Evans(notes), who missed two of the first three meetings with a broken foot, has averaged an NBA-best 20.9 boards per 48 minutes since returning March 9.

Anthony, who has yet to face the Raptors in a New York uniform, averaged 25.7 points in his last 12 games versus Toronto with Denver - 11 wins.

Righteous thread. :peace: Ur game day threads are as much a fata compli of righteousness as a Vatican priest's touch to a young boy's trousers.

The Canadian turds can't be taken too lightly...but who can?

A perfect game to shut down a serviceable offensively talented team, and win with a well rounded cohesive team effort in relative ease.

If we win tomorrow and Philly loses tomorrow then the game on Wednesday will be for 6th place!!!! Let's do this! Melo scores 62 pts, Knicks win!

Reggie Evans is beating on the boards. Amare will have his hands full, but I believe Amare will give Evans a real right. We better dominate, run away with this game & whipe the floor out of the Raptorts, especially considering the fact their without both Calderon & Bargnani.

We were up by as many as 22 against the Cavs last night. Cleveland cut the lad to only two points. The Knicks went on to win by by 16. The same should happen tomorrow in MSG; the Knicks should crush this team, but... Without giving up a large lead like last night. A win is a w, I'll take a 1 point win in stride, but there is no reason why we don't win by 15-20+ tomorrow night.

I would love for Shelden to bully his way into our starting Center position & force his way in the rotation as our starting Center come playoff time. I believe in this man from Duke, he's much better than JJ.

Biding time for a Miami Mojito or Boston Cripple game! Preferably latter. If i can get dibs on game1, if playoff games haven't already been accounted for, ill swoop in on that shit.

I've already dibbed that, but seeing that I'm doing match up threads per position, you can take it if you like?

All u broheem; just saw that you dibbed in the gt sticky, and put myself down for first available playoff game. But if u need a sub for whatev reason in game1, you know the Jew to turn to. :afro:

Nothing to complain about over here.

I could care less about all the pictures of players & logo's or even the funny type of humor with the gameday threads... As long as they have the potential starting 5's (which this did), as well as a solid preview of the game (which this did); I consider it as being a strong gameday thread.

It's up to the members of this site to take it in stride from there, and turn it into the best possible gameday thread moving forward. Only so much the OP can do (Craz) with the OP. Cant please everyone. Some will enjoy it, some won't. It's up to you as a poster & fan of this team; to make the most of it & add whatever you feel is lacking.

One thing I'd love to see during the playoffs? Actual stats. Examples: leading scorers, assist's & rebounders from both teams & team stats such as PPG/PPGA, FG % / FG % allowed, etc etc. More numers & info about the matchup itself.

I can't believe no one used the phrase "Craptors" in this thread.

Yeah this should be another NJ-esque win where we have at least a 20 point lead at some point.

Something like 110-90 would be my guess.

This is game #4 of my 'MUST WIN' games (3 for 3 so far). It will put us 1 game above .500 and should allow us to put the losing streak and bad stretch behind us.

Interesting to see here tonight will be how much rest Amar'e and Billups get. With Barni and Jose out for tonight, it would be a treat to see douglas and carter + williams and JJ hit the floor for extended minutes. However with seeding still being a concern I expect D'ant will not give them the minutes until we are up on the score board significantly.

MDA states he will continue to play his regulars to gain team chemistry. Amare said he'll do "anything" to land the 6th seed & isn't ready to rest until the playoff seedings are final. Billups stated that the Knicks still have work to do (catching the 76ers) so I wouldn't expect much rest tonight!

With the 76ers going into Boston to face the Celtics? With a win tonight? We'll be playing the 76ers for rights to the 6th seed next game baby!

I hope to see the Knicks make a STATEMENT game tonight. Tip off is right around the corner & I fully expect us to win by 15+. 25-30 for the statement!

We should easily beat the craptors with Stat and Billups playing 30 minutes or less so I would really like to see them get a bit of rest. Build a lead in the first half, sit them in the 3rd and bring them back for the 4th if we need them.

We have 5 games left, we need Amare to get rest in all 5 games to have him fresh come round 1.
