October 22nd. Barely any preseason, but the season starts on time, and the Maloof family praises the heavens.
Cause they're in financial trouble. They were loosing money left, right, and center the last few years during the seasons. Not having a season doesn't make the overhead cost of running an NBA franchise disappear, some of those bills will still be there, but there won't be any revenue coming in.
It's not only the Maloofs tho, they're just the last team that almost had to uproot the franchise and go elsewhere to get more tax payer and gov't money to make things happen. There are plenty of NBA franchises that don't want to see a year lost, despite what all the talking tv heads say. Those teams just want an NBA where they pay the players less, and the revenue from big market teams is shared better. They're not willing to miss a season tho.
