Oh no he didn't ...

I like Amar'e about as much as I can like any pro athlete (well not as much as some of my favourites but you get the idea) but what if ... no it's too mad to contemplate, but what the hell let's do it anyway.

CP3 waits it out till 2012 and through the same collusion that the Heat used tells D12 to do the same.

In 2012 for whatever reason (injury or just because we can) we cut Amar'e with our amnesty. Don't tell me about how much we owe him because we don't owe him shit. I love Melo's game and he's my boy but we don't owe him either, they both were ruthless and got theirs and if they loved NY as much as they say they would have taken less to be a Knick.

So anyway if CP3 and D12 are willing to take less to play together while still leaving us the cash to build around them, what if we amnesty Amar'e and have enough to build around a core of

CP3
MELO
D12.

It's possible is all I'm saying and if D12 and CP3 would be open to it, we'd be mad not to do it.

I...don't think that would leave Melo and CP3 very happy. They wanted to come to NY to play with Amar'e, not with D12.

D12 is a great player but I don't think he really hangs out with the LeBron/CP3/Wade/Melo crowd. Neither does Amar'e really as much

If you believe the hype then CP3 would be fine with it.

I kinda feel the same way, but only on STAT's contract. If only he'll accept or possible to lower his contract. Although it should of took less money to get Amare, he was still the only one who wanted to become a Knick. STAT played well, got things rolling for players considering to become a Knick, and had one of his best seasons last season. He's a leader and belongs to stay.

They threw alot of loot at Amare hoping he will bring other ballers to the Knicks. The money was originally for Lebron but the brass had to make a power move fast when that failed... so they basically threw a bank at Stat and crossed their fingers.

And this is pretty much it right here. We all know Amare wasn't worth that much, but when they failed to land lebron they had to fix it fast. I'm just glad we didn't sign Joe Johnson.

on thing it would do.. it would allow CP3 to make more money if you split the 2012 cap between d12 and cp3. not sure if it will happen .. but if amare gets injured.. you can probably count on it,,

Do you remember "no one touches the shaqtus"? I say: "no one touches Amare", so get your dirty hands off him, he stays, period. ;)

I like this thread.

If Amare truly cared about NY basketball, he wouldn't get penetrated down low more than a pornstar in her prime. Harsh, harsh but true. And I still like the man, and he is a very good, potentially great player to have. But let's not pretend this man swooped in and saved Gotham like a selfless superhero. Superman, however.....

Is younger and better. And safer, and when you are gambiting your franchise on a Big 2 (or Big 3), the risk of one max'like player having his stock plummet by injury is a crippling one.

A package of STAT for Howard will be difficult for any team to match, and have Orlando accept it with Orlando fans not rioting.

Howard, unlike perhaps Amare, will also be content averaging sub-20pts, but shooting .600+ like clockwork, playing lockdown D, and averaging 15+ boards for us.

The biggest knock that Howard isn't inclined to ruthlessly dominate and finish games for the Magic day in, day out, for us, with Melo, is more a blessing.

FWIW, I could also see us valuing Turk, who despite being way past his prime, is still a versatile player MDA would love to coach and a very good passing flex 3-4 with some range.

Billups-Shump
Fields-Douglas
Turk-Williams
Melo-Turiaf
Howard-Jordan

Vegas would have that squad on par to win the chip right there with any other in the NBA.

Real Talk....
The Phoenix Suns Doctors only guaranteed Amare's knees for 3 seasons which is the only reason why Amare departed from Phoenix.
When Donnie Walsh offered Amare a $100M for 5 guaranteed years, owner Dolan tried to get Isiah Thomas back with the Knicks.
The Knicks received bad media coverage during Isiah Thomas tour, then received more bad media coverage for tanking two seasons by DNP healthy players.
Besides Amare....there wasnt one star or superstar 2010 FA interested in signing with the Knicks, or wanting to be apart of the Knicks franchise.
The Knicks gained a reputation of being a JOKE franchise.
If Amare did not sign with the Knicks in 2010? 33 st. would be a .........

If Amar'e didn't sign with the Knicks we would've signed Carlos Boozer to a max contract.

That thought alone is enough to make me realize that we should never EVER EVER EVER EVER in a BILLION years even ENTERTAIN the thought of getting rid of Amar'e.

EVER.

EVER.

EVER.

The thought of Walsh signing Boozer to a max contract really makes me
focus on owner Dolan $$$ going above the NBA & NCAA rules to put Isiah
Thomas back in the Knicks front office at the start of the 2010-11 season.
LOL .... there were only a few 2010 superstar FA deserving a 5 or 6 year
$20M per max contracts, and u had alot of star FA deserving 5 to 6 year
contracts from $12M to $15M per ....Boozer history deserve the $12M per.

Alot of Knicks fans underestimate the pair of "old-man Billups & Amare"
being the only superstars on the Knicks. A starting lineup of rookie Mozgov,
Amare, Chandler, Fields, and Billups....with bench players Gallo, TD, Turiaf,
AR, and Walker under headcoach Herb Williams, the Knicks wouldve been a
2nd round playoff team or a 7 game playoff team, in their first season together.

There is a strong reason why I been BASHING offensive headcoach Dantoni
since the 2008 offseason....in Dantoni's 3rd season 2010-11, Knicks fans
watched a "one on one" offensive Knicks team from Amare, Felton, Chandler,
and Gallo, there was no chemistry on fast breaks, transition, or halfcourt
offense throughout the season. The Felton/Amare pick n roll only lasted two
months of the season before every Knicks oponent caught on to the move.

Did Melo and Billups really get along with each other on the Denver Nuggets
is the question I keep asking myself?
During the offseason and the season-lockout the Knicks BIG-3 stayed far
apart from each other....Melo & Dolan trying to recruit CP3, Amare
hanging around Isiah Thomas gym, and Billups staying behind the sceen
getting Grunwald to hire his ex-coach Woodson, working-out with unsign
rookie Iman Shump, plus getting together with Melo to put in a law-suit vs
the CBA for their deadline-trade becoming a rule. That's about as close as
the Knicks BIG-3 leadership has came together in the past 7 months.
