    Default Nash-Melo-STAT-D12? Is it possible?

Now, keep in mind, this is a pipe dream and I could just be so damn tired because of my sleep schedule that I have no idea what's going on.

But what about this scenario? Everybody keeps talking about CP3, but what if we somehow convinced Dwight Howard to sign here instead? I know that means we're lacking a point guard...but has anybody thought about the possibility that Steve Nash might sign here for the minimum and go ring-chasing?

Think about it like this: Nash wants a title. He's never even played in an NBA Finals. His old teammate Dirk finally got his ring and now Nash wants his. Unfortunately he's 37 and odds are he doesn't have that much time. What if, under some sort of hypothetical pipe dream, we convinced D12 to sign here and then picked up Steve Nash on the minimum salary?

    Nash
    Shumpert
    Melo
    Amar'e
    D12

I don't think I'd be exaggerating if I said that might be the greatest team of all time if it were ever assembled. I know Nash is old, but he's also a player who doesn't really require an extreme amount of sheer athleticism to stay good. He's also a very well-conditioned player who takes great care of himself in the off-season, and he has excellent endurance from all those years as a soccer player which is probably one main reason he hasn't had any huge injuries in his career.

If we were to pick up Nash he would fill the double role of passer AND of 3-point specialist. After how good he was with Amar'e in Phoenix I shudder at the thought of a Nash-D12 pick and roll when he kicks it out to Amar'e. Nash taking the 3 in transition is an amazing sight to see and if we could have someone like that on our team it'd be epic.

Is it possible, this idea of Nash signing for the minimum? If we keep Mike D on as coach after this season he might relish the idea of playing with his favorite coach and his old teammate again and being part of what would most likely be a dynasty of sorts...thoughts on this matter? Plus this way we would fill every role that we need on offense, we'd have the best post defender in the entire league, and we'd be able to fill out the rest of our roster with simple roleplayers who have no offensive skills whatsoever but that'd be OK.

Anyone else think Nash might sign for the minimum? Or think he'd be an effective player for another 3-4 years?

Sounds like a good line up, but will Shumpert become that good that he starts in the league? Also, for me, I'd rather the Knicks get younger than older, especially at the point.

Also, Melo, Stat and Howard are going to require the ball a lot to be effective. Who in that trio wont touch the ball that much?

    You're forgetting something, somebody.

    PG-Steve Nash
    SG-Chauncey Billups
    SF-Carmelo Anthony
    PF-Amar'e Stoudemire
    C-Dwight Howard

Holy ****, this actually would be the greatest team ever. But I see this as a total pipe dream. getting CB and Nash for minimum and Howard for like 13 mill would be like winning the lotto.

But man, it'd be fun to see!

Also i don't think howard needs the ball a ton to be effective. In fact he's not that effective on the offensive end aside from put backs and 2nd chance points. Nash would need the ball to be effective, but he's an elite distributor and I know Amar'e would benefit and Melo would see the same sort of benefits, while still being able to play an iso game on mismatches.

    This would be crazy!

Still i'll temper my expectations of player movement and be happy with the team we have assembled right now. I believe they are a contender as it is.

Sometimes having that many stars results in the opposite effect. Too many guys that need the ball. Not saying it couldn't work, but its only looks good on paper.

I really like Nash but think his best days are behind him. Although he can work D'ant's system, his defense is suspect and we are in a position to do better at that position. I want to see what Shumpert can do first.

What about any post that reminds us of "Starbury" gets a 1 star? I'd say that's a fairer deal!

Once we lose Toney Douglas as part of a CP3 deal, we will need a backup point guard

    *whistles a suspicious tune*

    *exits thread*
