It's the return...of

Friday Night Knicks!

It's January 6th, the luckiest day of the year, hopefully the Knicks aren't going to need it. After some woeful performances, including this week on Wednesday against the Bobcats, we gotta come out playing as an NBA team, a good one at that. We can't let wizardry and luckiness defeat us.

Starting Line-ups:

Washington Wizards

RunningJumper's opinion of the starting line-up:

- I think Balkman should be starting instead of Amar'e. I know once Amar'e gets rolling he should be in the starting line-up, but he simply doesn't deserve to be a starter over Balkman when Balkman plays defense and does other hustle plays. Amar'e has played like a rookie this season. He needs to prove why he should be paid for his contract. Don't let the whole superstar label and image fool you into thinking that's why he should start tonight.

- Shumpert should start as PG. So far he's shown to be more of a SG, but we're short-handed, and well, we need good play from our starting PG, even if if he's been playing more as a SG. Douglas has not done that. Fields stays in the starting line-up over Douglas because Shumpert will provide what we need while Fields will do all the off-the-ball plays and rebound, we can't have Douglas jacking up shots starting. Mike D'Antoni said there's a possibly he could be starting after being impressed by his 18 point game against the Bobcats.

Key match-up

If Shumpert is the defender he's said to be, which so far he hasn't led us to believe he's not, then he is going to be a big part of defending Wall, and possibly the biggest part of winning the game. Wall is a bullet, no pun intended, in the fastbreak, good thing for us, Shumpert has great speed, vertical, and strength to match. Last season Wall has shown he needs to work on finishing near the rim. Did he improve this season significantly? Well if he did, it didn't equate to wins. Still, he's a threat on the fastbreak and near the basket.

After seeing this lay-up at :27, the thought of our rookie possessing John Wall speed with his other offensive and defensive abilities, made me look forward to him even more. This makes for an interesting, and maybe exciting match-up.

Sadly, Ronny Turiaf won't be playing tonight for the Wizards because of a broken left hand, same injury Manu Ginobli got this week.

At least we got the bearded ones (Baron) on the suit team tonight!

D'Antoni has left many fans unhappy, including fans at the Garden who let it be known there and many posters who let it be known here. This might be his biggest game going against a 0-6 team with a Knicks core that should be enough to get a victory. If he wants to keep Dolan and Grunwald from being that disgruntled this early on, we must win.

This starting lineup is one of the best we can present right now. I reckon it should be Bibby that starts with Shumpert at the 2. Bibby needs to get some proper minutes as the possibility of him reaching even 1/3 of his potential is far better than anything Douglas can produce at PG. Knicks need a PG, and they need him now.

Why am I not confident about this game...

I'll Be There In Section 121 Right Behind The Knicks Bench!!! Look For Me On Tv Guys!! I'll Be Wearing A Knicks Fitted!!! Screaming Fire D'amphony The Whole Game!!!!

Expect another mediocre performance by the Knicks.

There is no way D'Antoni will bench his homeboy Stoudemire.

Fields will also start and Douglas.

The Wizards are too weak though to win this one, fortunately for the Knicks.

The Wizards have the talent to beat us. They just need to figure it out.

McGee = Chandler

STAT = Blatche Both are bigs who love the jumper.

Melo > Lewis

Fields < Young

Douglas < Wall

We could very well lose this one.

Key game for D'Antoni, I could see him being fired tomorrow if he loses to the Wiz.

Doesn`t it just go to prove how bad things are when you feel like beating the Wizards might be tricky and if we win it would be a relief.

This is the Wizards we are talking about. There should be no doubt about us winning but hear we all are feeling apprehensive about playing them.

sack No D-Toni now before it`s too late.

3 straight home losses to Toronto, Charlotte, and Washington may actually be enough to even open Dolan's eyes to the MDA situation.

That said, my prediction is that the Knicks will get it together tonight and much to the dismay of much of this forum, the efforts of Shump and the other usual suspects will take the heat off MDA for at least another night.

Also, benching a guy like STAT, who went 25 and 12 on Wednesday night, even if his defense is some of the worst in the league, for a guy like Balkman who is a defensive specialist who actually doesn't play too much game changing defense (if you watch him play all that closely) is a move that would greatly expedite the demise of this team in more ways than one imho.

Only because of egos and wrong perceptions. Why was Toney booed last game and not Amar'e? You know why, because of the image Amar'e built up.

I don't mind Amar'e starting though, but if he doesn't get his act together within the next two or three games, then I rather have Balkman start over him. His eyes need to be opened to effort and hustle.

Nice game thread running jumper...are u a westcoast homie? I only ask that because those look like westcoast rappers in the songs u posted, i know at least yukmouth is.

That scene girl of the night looks sorta gothic and young...bro im gonna need to see some proof that this girl is 18. That must be the younger sister of somebody that posts on here. JPZ's gonna be mad when he sees his little sis

All jokes aside, im pissed that Antoni pulled ShuMPVert (double entendre) (meaning MVP which obvious, and vert because he has a very high vertical jump) from the starting lineup. He should learn how to bench Melo or Amare half way through the 1st and bring then back in late. I would sit Amare at 6 minutes in then bring him back between 2 and 3 minutes left, rest Shumpert and then at the start of 2nd quarter bring shump back in while u rest Melo. Either Melo or shumpert should be on the floor at all times. Having Amare out there with just fields and Douglas could mean problems. Walker too, or whoever. And play Balkman more minutes, his defense and energy are amazing.

Tight thread. Well done

If not for Shumpert this game could well have us looking like a battered, abused woman all game.

And I still kinda expect Wall to abuse Amare at least once tonight in one huge smfh play.

Good Amare would have him let Blatche get his eats in, perhaps, but would also feature Good Amare having a 5course feast.

Now that we have Bad Amare and his reliance on jump shoots...who knows.

We need Shump at the top of his game, especially defensively. He can't allow Wall to penetrate often and with ease.

If Shump isn't lockdown, and with the recent play of Amare......

Wall, Blatche and McGee could just have a field day all over our face, regardless of Chandler's prescense.

I'm saying a prayer that Shump at the 1 experiment is a fruitful one, too. Would be huge until Baron gets in, in which case we can then slot Shump in as the starting 2.

Not as hopeful of a win as i used to be against the Wizz! Hopefully we can sort out our recent shit run. Amar'e needs a big game, preferably just dunks!!!
