Josh Harrellson Fractures Wrist, Expected Out 6 Weeks

Jan 22, 2012 12:10 PM EST
Josh Harrellson is out six weeks after fracturing his right wrist after taking a fall late in the first overtime of the 119-114 double OT loss to the Nuggets at Madison Square Garden.

Harrellson will need surgery, and his absence is a big blow to an already paper-thin bench. Steve Novak, the 3-point shooting specialist, likely would take his place in the Knicks rotation, but that will vastly hurt their interior defense.

Harrellson also has surprised from the 3-point line as a late second-round pick.

Look for either the knicks bring back Jordan or make a signing with Kmart. The bench is slim as it is and with Chandler and Amare in foul trouble every other game this isnt good.

I don't think the Knicks can sign Kmart until March. I could be wrong but I don't think so. I heard it's part of his contract with his overseas team.

You're right. Him Brooks, and JR.

People are saying that we don't have the players for D'Antoni's system yet we have much better players this season, than last. I don't think a new player or two is going to fix D'Antoni... I really don't. Losing Harrleson basically kills D'Antoni's system. His job is all but gone.

We have Jordan in the BayHawks (our D-League team), can we bring back right away?

If its like how it was last year the answer is yes im pretty sure. The D-League is like the minors of baseball, a call up can happen. Also dont forget about Rasheed for a vet min, a man who is a verteran and champion and can possibly toughen up Amare.

That would be an option that would definitely help this team. Problem is he's not a 3 point shooter so he wouldn't get any playtime. I'm sure D'Antoni would still run Jeffries all day long. Did you see him shoot the 3 yesterday? Also, what's up with D'Antoni setting Stat up for the corner 3? It's happened 4 games in a row.

Rahseed is a three point shooter!!! Do remember him on Portland and Boston, he's okay not great. Here's his stats:

Rasheed retired two seasons ago, his comeback seems to be unlikely. IMO with Harrellson out for 6 weeks Jordan is the only player that will (re)join the Knicks.
Besides, with Lin and Jerome playing for the BayHawks our roster is still at 15, so if we want to sign another player we have to drop or trade somebody...

definitely a blow to Knicks lineup/depth. Harrellson was just budding...

however, I assume Steve No-Vak will take some of his minutes, and Girafferies will be sticking his neck out for longer periods of time, doing lots of nothing but flopping and looking like a lost platypus on offense, with the occasional three.

if Antoni is smart and brings Jerry Jordan back into fold, he may be forced to use the big man, and then we can see what he brings to the team, which I feel will be more good than bad.

Also, No-vak may be the three-specialist we need on the court, and could very well surprise all with his abilities, esp clueless coaches.

It was time for Novak to get more play time anyways... Sucks it had to come to this for him to get it.

the only bright side is maybe this lowers the chance that D'antoni screws this kids development up......

I mean come on he has a few nice post moves and plays Defense...... But if he is missing the 3 he is benched.

We'll be lucky if they even make it in the rotation once and awhile. Our bench isn't as bad as D'Antoni makes them look by NOT playing them.
