Can the Knicks REALLY get ANYTHING for Bibby and Balkman?!

So Chris Broussard said that the Knicks offered the Rockets a package of Renaldo Balkman and Mike Bibby for Johnny Flynn. One can only assume that they have offered this package to other teams including Cleveland for Ramon Sessions. My question is tho, can we really get anything for Renaldo Balkman and Mike Bibby AT ALL?!? Or is Grunwald just a nutcase?

Flynn would be good. And maybe realistic.

He's so low on the totem pole right now.

Arguably, his ceiling is still fairly high.

Given MDA's proclivity towards coaching up players and milking talent, especially with PG's, it's worth a flyer if we can do it. And gives us some insurance and quality PG backup for Lin, particularly if Baron doesn't heal.

I'm sure the goal is to somehow get Lin + 1 PG who we could somehow feel confident with as our starts moving forward next year.

And then use our MLE on a best player available situation -- OJ Mayo, eg. Or Nash, if he somehow agreed. But if we can't get a diamond in the rough for our MLE....we'll beef up our team with a legit 2guard with range, and/or a quality backup forward.

Augustin always a possibility, too, but if Lin keeps playing real solid, and Augustin remains injury-riddled or has weak play, I'm not sure we'd use our full MLE on him.

If it's Broussard I wouldn't care about what he says... this guy lives in his own world, he's media kind of shizzee, only he screams more.

No one wants to take on the year that is pending in Balkman's contract

Right now, Mike Bibby couldn't consistently and effectively give you worthy minutes even if he played one-on-one against Deb Sunderman with a flat tire

So, only way to get rid of Balkman (Bibby is easier to unload because of his expiring deal) would be to package him with Fields, Douglas or Shumpert; those are the only deals that we may be able to pull off at this moment.

Sometimes "Chris Broussard" says the dummest shuuut....why would a
NBA team give "Shrewed Bussinessman Dolan" one of the missing links
(a decent backup PG) to make the Knicks a strong competitor team in
the postseason games without being rewarded four times the worth of
Flynn or Session....Owners were not happy with Dolan sitting and chatting
with CP3 during the CBA Lock-Out meetings.

Real Talk....if the Knicks started the season with a real NBA headcoach that
wouldve prepare for this rugged 66 tight game schedule by starting the
season with a 10+ man rotation each game (preparing 13 players) in a 2-unit
line-up fashion to get players familiar with each other talents for the back to
back to back schedules without any practices our record would be the same
as Denvers, Portland, Houston, Utah, Indiana, or one game ahead or behind
the 76ers. All our players trade-value wouldve risen under a long rotation
headcoach....we have young fresh legs on our bench with inside/outside
scoring & defense we couldve developed into a lineup.

Flynn is averaging 11 minutes per game with 3 ppg and shooting 26%!!!

His numbers are garbage but it probably just lack of confidence and he can drive to the hoop, which DOuglas can't do and he more of PG than Douglas

So my option is that now they turned down Bibby and Balkman, trade Douglas and Balkman

If Balkman, Bibby, Jeff, Novak, Jordan, Jorts, Shump, and Lin were used in
the right way off the bench to provide offense/defense help for Tyson, Stat,
Melo, Fields, and TD, our bench players trade-value depth wouldve risen sky high.
TD couldve started every game, and be substituted the first 4 minutes to
throw oponents into a loop by putting in a veteran Bibby to finish the first
quarter. Shump & Lin starting the 2nd quarter of each game wouldve been
preparing our backcourt for the back to back to back schedule.

?????

I think you supported my statement right there

Tyson is a better PG than TD, how sad is that?

GIves you more reason to trade this bum.

Douglas is a small 2 guard, Jason Terry type.

FLynn is more of a pg and we need Point guards since Bibby sucks and can't hit his shot, Shumpert stopped driving the hoop so he isn't as effective and isnt a pur point so Lin and the injured Davis are the only guards.

We need a 3rd PG that can play decently in case Davis gets hurt again.

We cant afford to have Douglas, Bibby, or Shumpert run the point.

Best thing the Knicks can do is give Jerome Jordan and Balkman a chance. Another thing the Knicks could do is sign Devin Green to a 10 day contract, give him one last chance. If only it could be as easy as just signing Will the Thrill.

The only way the Knicks are going to win games now is through defense. I know the Knicks aren't known for defense, but it is going to look look better the next two weeks.

J Lin - quick, stay in front of guys, talks on defense
Fields - quick hands, stealing a lot lately
Walker - getting better on D, only a fill in
Jeffries - always liked his defense, pokes ball loose, draws charges
Chandler - He is Tyson Chandler

Iman - top 3 in steals, and keeps guards uncomfortable

Defense will be the offense, and with an actual point guard who keeps his head up making great passes, the Knicks could can possibly pull through in some games.

:agreed:......... I couldn't have said this any better, just wish MSG had some normal folks working over there to pass the message on lol.

I would trade Jordan for some sort of guard.

Honestly I have not been impressed at all with what I've seen from him. He doesn't play defense well at all, and doesn't really rebound... Even though I knew what I saw was very limited it is normally enough time to tell if hes going to be effective or not, and honestly I think Jefferies is a better player than he is.

Hes 7 feet so his skill is irrelavent, someone will give us a decent point guard for him imo.

Maybe a pop tart? Without the icing.

I kid. I kid. With Balkman's salary -- no. We may be able to give them both to a team for a good player and take some bad contracts back.

please tell me its a mistake that you have douglas in that starting 5

With teams now doubling Lin....having Balkman in the game with him running the basket at all times would be great. With Balkman's athleticism coupled by his lack of shot (no one is gonna guard him), i see a lot of easy dunks for him.
