sh*t happens. DWill went off on the Knicks, he's capable of it, he made it happen, he's one of the most
dominating players in the league, and the Knicks were dominated by his shooting tonite. I had a feeling...

our 3-point specialists did not make it happen tonite, Novak 2 for 8 and Junior Swish 0 for 5.
there's the difference.

Lin had a very good statistical game, i would've liked him to play his game more, be in control
of the ball at all times, instead he acquiesced to Melo and STAT's presence too much,
and they did NOT make it happen.

Knicks missed a lot of shots, got hacked, lost the ball, they had their chances to bust a move
in the 4Q, just one of those games where the momentum didn't go their way.

have faith Knick fans. this team is still gelling with our newfound PG, it may take a couple weeks
to get into the flow. if Knicks can concentrate on defending the perimeter, they'll have a better
chance at beating just about any team out there. we'll see what happens with the cHeat...

That's not Lin, bro. That's not what has defined Lin's rise. You take the hottest girl to prom, you dance with her till you find out she's really a dude, or someone clearly hotter comes along.

The hottest girl? That's it? Let me tell you the story about the young bull and the old bull.

The two bulls were standing on a hill above the pasture when the young bull says lets run down the hill **** one of them cows and run back up.

The old bull says lets walk down the hill **** ALL of the cows and walk back up.

The moral of the story? Get all you can out of your entire team. Run when you have to, postup, movement do it all and do it all well. These are the teams that dont have to worry about an offense going stagnant.

If Lin was facilitating so-so looks, I'd maybe agree...roll the dice on getting involved in Lin's on-court play like you haven't before, and make a concerted effort to go very set-play, slow-pace.

But I don't see why you think that would carry more success?

Although Lin played well the Nets were geared to not letting him beat them alone. You throw a monkey wrench in their plans if you feature Melo.

Refs or nor refs we were getting our asses stuffed at the end around the basket. Melo had plenty of inside plays. So did Amare.

I saw so many blatant missed calls it was comical. Each and every one of those ref's should be docked their pay for this game...

We were getting *great* looks.

Just because we weren't hitting them, doesn't mean you should deviate from going for the same shot the next time around, or in the future.

It's like flipping a coin where you're putting up $1 to someone's $2 for each flip, and you get afraid to flip because it ran tails 4 straight times, when you were picking heads.

Past failure has nothing (necessarily) to do with your future success. And shouldn't automatically dictate you change. Like I said, though, if our offense wasn't working.....sure, but our offense was working, IMHO. And it's what has been working in the games prior to this game, and what I think we agree will continue to work.

If the looks were so great we wouldnt have missed so many.

So you advocate making the same mistake over and over again? That's INSANITY. Before Lin hit the scene we had a problem shooting too many long jumpers. Which we reverted back to tonight. I hope it isnt going to become a pattern. If it does we definitely need to replace the coach...

Deron Williams just sent out a reminder that he is arguably the best pure point guard in the league. The fact that he keeps that Nets team competitive even without Lopez is insane.

Anyone else not looking forward to espn tomorrow when all they will talk about is how the Knicks lost in Melo's first game back?

All I want to say is we do not need to be frustrated by this lose, it is a non-typical lose, if DW missed 3 three pointers (even this happened, he still extraordinarily played), we will win.

It wasn't Melo's fault.

It was partly whoever decided Shump shouldn't even suit up in case "The knicks needed defense" fault (I want to say coaching but I honestly don't know who made that call)

I was partly Lin's fault since instead of playing balls out I think he is letting the media get into his head over the TO's

Hey F**k the Nets man .... I try to stay neutral on NY teams but I think I am picking a side in this debate and the Nets are some chumps.

P.S. At least baron came back and played well. I am happy to see him on the court making some moves.

is anyone else extremely frustrated with STAT's defense i dont understand how he can be so bad on defense, i mean is he zoning out because of what happened to his bro? (RIP man) Idk but its extremely frustrating watching him just standing there.. he says he wasnt really taught defense throughout his career but its basic basketball fundamentals.

Worst officiating I've seen in a long time. Really bogged the game down and players were really confused on how they could play. Either let them play or call it tight. Don't f**kin go all wishy washy with calling tic tac fouls and then not calling blatant hacks.

Not having Shumpert really really hurt. He shut down DWill the first game.
Obviously Melo was rusty as hell and Stoudamire is still completely out of shape. All in all.... it could have been much much worse.

Nets got lucky with 3s + Knicks suddenly can't hit free throws = loss

Don't panic. Just breathe and try not to blame everything on something stupid. We still have half the season left to gel and get into shape. Seriously... just try to enjoy the season instead of always trying to find a scapegoat to blame everything on and your life will be better. I promise.

You're just missing the point here my man.

That's just an erroneous assumption; and you're fighting against proven game theory. And being results-oriented, and not acknowledging variance.

And before you jump on being for saying "don't be results-oriented".....

*so you advocate making the same mistake over and over again?

No, I def don't. Because what was happening wasn't a mistake. You are calling them mistakes because it didn't work out -- they were a byproduct of our offense, which was running efficiently and well. And the shots weren't bad. They were actually pretty great.

We just didn't execute, and the refs really reamed us all over...our inside game, as well.

Lin was running the offense, like he does, and he was running it well. The shot were good. I'm happy we took them, I'm happy we had them to take.

If we could replay it 1000000000 times, I'd sign up for us to have and take those opportunities again.

Simply put:

when your offense is stinking it up missing high-quality, high pt producing shots, you're offense is doing the right thing.

We lost this game for a lot of clear reasons. MDA is not one of them, nor was our overall offensive approach, orchestrated by Lin (and MDA).

Anyway, since MDA is getting such credit for this loss and it's relation to Lin and Lin running the offense, surely MDA then had his fingers all over the blueprint of what has made Lin what Lin has been for us?

CHECK YOUR EMAILS BRO!!!!!!

I agree that in general our offense was running pretty nice tonight, our shots just didn't fall. On another night we could play exactly the same and score 120 that game. It's crazy.

There's no way you put this one on D'Antoni. I just don't see the logic there.

Rough night, didn't execute, defensive assignments went wrong.

Players reacting stupidly to bad calls........... on to the next game.

Sometimes things just don't go your way.

Move along now.

I think once Baron gets a better feel for his teammates he'll be an excellent backup.

Both Stat and Melo need to wake up and play defense like you are suppose to play. All I see expecially with Melo is loafing not caring at all of defense. Its a completly different story when the knicks have the ball. He and Stat are running all over the place.

Not at all. I told Ron earlier this year when he was clamoring for a PG that even with an elite PG if we played the same way we'd be very inconsistent. The game of basketball is easy. You take as many close shots as you can and prevent as many as you can.

When we were down 8 with about 5 min left that was the time to run some sets for post ups, but we did the same thing that hadnt been working for much of the game.

I agree that if it aint broke dont fix it, but this should be a game to game thing. A quarter to quarter thing.

Linsanity didnt work tonight. We should have gone with the MeloDrama in the 4th...

This team needs to stop playing down to its competition, sheesh....

Looking at it positively though, not much time all practicing together. Not gonna make excuses for this BAD loss, and I'm certainly not gonna come to terms with EVER losing to the Nets, but in the grand scheme of things I think we'll be okay after this one.

Let's come back big against Atlanta and then even more so, Miami.

You guys remind me of the history books I read growing up. I hope I'm remembering this correctly.

The British (you guys) during wartime were absolutely demolishing the colonies (me). They used to both fight war by standing in line and shooting at one another until one side won. The British had better guns a shooters at that time. But someone on the colonies side came up with the bright idea of hiding behind rocks and trees while shooting.

Well you know how that turned out.

Like I said if it's working, fine. If not doing something different might lead to more victories...
