Basketball as a metaphor for life...

I thought about writing my own metaphors, but found this via an
online article. And, couldn't have done any better.
http://www.essentiallifeskills.net/7lifelessons.html
  1. Learn and master the fundamentals of the game.
  2. Be prepared both mentally and physically.
  3. Be unselfish and a team player.
  4. Be alert and aware. Anticipate the play.
  5. If the plays aren't working, re-adjust the game plan.
  6. Never give up on the play. Persevere.
  7. Win more games than you lose, but accept both victory and defeat graciously.
But, I'll add my own:
  1. There are no guarantees in life. One minute you might be on top, the next minute you could be losing miserably. Vice versa.
  2. Don't pay attention to what others say. Fans/people can be very fickle. They may put you on a pedestal one day, then bad mouth you the next.
  3. Don't take things seriously. Life is short, so enjoy the game/life while you can.
  4. Negativity is a reflection of unhappy people. Only they feel good about celebrating the misery of another human being.
  5. It doesn't matter whether or not you "lose the ball", it matters that you try your best to get it back for the "slam dunk!" :smokin:

Good stuff buddy. Although a change of pace and a different type of thread, it's nice to see some positivity.

Repped +1

I knew someone who's life was like a Dwight Howard free throw: he kept on getting opportunities and yet kept missing.
