LOL..Dan Gadzuric?!?!? WTF is this guy supposed to provide? Tell me at least one discernible skill he possesses? Offensive rebounding? Maybe...But that's a stretch...Come on man, this guy's a stiff. He's good for 6 fouls and that's about it.
Hey, they got at least one part of this equation right and it's something I've been talking about for awhile now like a broken record: cutting Walker to open up the roster spot for a more useful player. But come on man, Dan Gadzuric? We couldn't have done better than that?
CA7 mentioned it early on in this thread --- what about Sean Williams? I love how Boston, arguably a better team than us for the moment, is on the verge of adding this guy (if they didn't add him already). Infinitely better signing than Dan Gadzuric imho...I LOVE that signing for Boston...This is what they got with Sean Williams: youth; big upside; better big man in every facet of the game on both ends than the journeyman Gadzuric; huge/game-altering shot-blocking potential (one discernible, NBA-ready skill, above-average NBA skill actually) and a guy that could be retained on the cheap for next year if he panned out (something we should be interested in considering we'll be over the cap to start off next yr)...Why couldn't we have targeted this guy? A few of us had him on our radar ever since Dallas released him..Before that even -- try since he was playing in Israel earlier in the yr and in the DL last year where he was a DL all-star and looked vastly improved.
I don't get it man. How 'bout Marcus Cousin, a 7' skilled big man I've been screaming about for like forever? I invite anyone on this board to youtube Marcus Cousin and then come back on here an tell me with a straight face that he's not a better player that Dan Gadzuric with a much higher skill level. Cousin's been available all year long btw... How about these guys: Jeff Adrien, Keith Benson, Chris Johnson who has NBA experience with the Celts and Portland (this dude actually played well in his brief stints with both clubs)...Adrien's a scrapper & tough as nails and Benson and Johnson are both legit shot-blockers/rim protectors...I mean if we were dead set on adding a veteran, why not Mehmut Okur? He's out there. Actually younger than Gadzuric and more skilled. Better rebounder, better offensive player by a mile...Why not give Jorts more time? If anything, I say commit to Jorts these last couple of games --- Jerome Jordan is a project but I think Harrellson can play in the NBA right now. He can shoot, he's tough, rebounds a little, plays smart D (Breen always used to comment on how Jorts, when he was seeing extended mins, very rarely bit on shot fakes and stood his ground -- he was right on that observation)...I mean this guy went for like 14 & 11 earlier this year on the road in Sac...Hopefully Woddy gives him a look here. I'd much rather see Jorts inherit Jeffries' time over Gadzuric.
Hard to get on Grunwald and co. -- they've done such a great job this year of building and adding talent to this roster, but this move I honestly don't get. Couldn't care less about cutting Walker. The man was useless. He was out of the rotation...All I wanted was a serviceable big or PG in exchange (regarding another PG, if it were up to me, either Matt Janning or Ben Hansbrough would've been a Knick a long time ago)...And I love how some on here thought Bill Walker, even though he wasn't even playing, was more valuable than Mike Bibby. I mean, honestly, how do you figure that? How do you feel about that now? With Lin out the rest of the way and Davis hurting and generally ineffective anyway, thank God for Mike Bibby..That's all I gotta say. Lin's out and Davis is a shell of what he used to be --- Bibby's our starting PG right now for better or worse)...Hey maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think we improved with Gadzuric. Isn't that the idea? To improve? The Celtics improved with Sean Williams in my book...Wasted opportunity for us here with this move.
