^ i don't see how JR and Lin both are signed. it's feasible to retain Lin and Novak, though.

Honestly.....the only way I'm going to get truly juiced about this off-season is if we find a miracle trade for Stoudemire, or Nash signs for the vet-min, letting us re-sign Lin and Novak.

It would be a great move on Nash's part, actually. Would make his career and legacy meta-epic. He legit likes NY, he legit wants to play for a team he can lead and vie for a chip for.

And the $ he doesn't make would have him transcend the game, and the $ he does make (cough cough endorsements with Lin cough cough) would supercede a max deal, which he wouldn't get no matter where he goes.

I'll dream for a moment, only bc Nash is the only player in the NBA who could think on this level, and pull off a move like this.

I would go after Greg Oden for the NBA minimum 1 year deal.

I would try to trade Amare ASAP. I suggested this at the beginning of the year. Bargiani + Amir Johnson for Amare.

Resign Lin and Novak.

Honestly you can probably find a mediocre player in the draft with a similar skillset as Landry Fields...I'm indifferent on him coming back.

Knicks don't have much wiggle room here. Pretty much at the mercy of Steve Nash.

I think you get Nash & re-sign LIN, or you make a run at a K-Hinrich-J-Craw combination.

JR Smith has a player option. Either he picks it up, or he walks.

I think if he walks, we re-sign Novak. He may not help vs MIA, but he's a need nonetheless over the course of 82 game regular season.

If NYK is to win next year, they need to find a way to sign Nash (vet min), keep LIN (half MLE), while getting J-Craw to sign the other half MLE.

Would all 3 take less money to play for NY, with our big-3 front court? Who knows.

If we get to next May with Nash, Lin, Crawford & Shumpert... Those are 4 guards to compliment the front court we have.

Sign a backup C & a shooter. Draft a depth player.

I would definitely keep our front-line of Melo, Stat, and Chandler. These guys can be a dominating force with some time to practice and get to know one another.

Lin is a must. When Lin, Stat, and Melo were playing together, the ball movement was efficient, and they were all scoring in double figures. That's basketball. That's how it's supposed to be played. Not Melo with 50 points and everyone else with 5. These guys can work together, enough trades.

Landry Fields remains, no question. This is a guy who will only continue to improve. I bet he comes back next season with a great jumpshot. As the years go on, he will get better. He is a steal.

Jr Smith, get the **** out of here. Don't ever come back. Useless, dumbass player who one will never win a title with. Chucks shots when he has 3 defenders on him. Pathetic to watch. Makes the ball movement stagnant.

Josh Harrelson hustles hard and is great off the bench. He will improve with time. He fights and he plays to win. Resign.

Baron Davis is done IMO.

I'd rather have a younger, more versatile PG than Mike Bibby. But he's cheap. Don't really know what I'd do with him.

Jeffries, if his knee is fine, keep. The dude is a symbol of New York. Hustles hard, and plays to the best of his ability, no matter what.

Steve Novak, as much as I love the guy, I wouldn't resign. He can easily be shut down in the playoffs.

In terms of some free agents, I would try to pick up a few veterans and some selfless players. Guys like JR Smith are not needed. We need team basketball.

If we can get any of the big name coaches, get them. These guys worked with star players before. I don't like how Woodson operated in the playoffs, but at the same time, I'm not sure because we didn't have a good point guard. Maybe with Lin things would've been different, but I don't like seeing Melo take all the shots, all the time. The guy is tiring out.

Keep Melo, Chandler, and Stat. (Though quietly find out if anyone would be interested in a trade and what you could get for Amare)

Resign Lin but don't go overboard. He can make more money in NY from endorsements than he could elsewhere. He should know that, this shouldn't be too hard to work out.

Attempt to get Nash. I think he'd be a huuggee pick up. Especially for Amare's game.

Let J.R. Smith, Fields, and Novak walk. Someone else will pay more for them than we are willing to put out. Trade Toney Douglas and Jerome Jordan if you can get anything decent for them.

Try to resign Jefferies and Jorts (work in progress). Get yourself a reliable shooter off the bench for cheap and a backup big man. Also, I think I'd be ok with keeping Bibby around too, as a third string PG.

I hope Shumpert recovers fully. The kid is a huge factor for our team at his price. Best value on our team by far.

Even Clyde has said last night that Amar'e and Melo can't coexist and the man works for MSG...make of that what you will....
Clyde is one of the very few people working for MSG that can say whatever he thinks. Dolan knows Knicks fans have much more respect for Frazier than for him. But it doesn't change the fact that Clyde's right.

Some of this stuff is out of the control of the front office so I'd have to decide based on the following assumptions:
-JR won't come back. His twitter feed said as much.
-I have a feeling that Lin actually might end up going to LA. He'll still be in a big market and he'll be able to run the pick and roll with Gasol all day. Plus he's closer to home. Would break my heart, tho.
-Novak will probably want to stay. He showed his ineffectiveness in the playoffs and is probably afraid that his stock went down.
-No one wants Amar'e.

That being said, I'd get rid of fields and Bibby, resign jeffries (if healthy), jorts, and Novak. Go for a 3 point shooting pg like Mo Williams and sign Goran Dragic to back him up. I'm not sure what to do with Douglas, would like to get rid of him for another PG somewhere, but don't know who would want him. I'd try to get a steal in the small forward spot to back up Melo in the 2012 NBA draft and hope I get lucky.

In a dream world, I want Iggy from the 76ers for stat and have Melo move to PF position, sign Deron Williams and Ray Allen and somehow keep Jeremy Lin as a back up.

I would try and gut the entire team (again) with the exception of Tyson and potentially Novak. I'm iffy on Novak as he can only do one trick. Hard to take up a position for that.

I would then try and rebuild around Tyson. I think a cool strategy would be to get a lot of draft picks and try and draft players from the same school that already have decent chemistry. I'm not sure how the draft looks this year and next year in terms of caliber.

The goal should be to create a team with chemistry. Tyson can work in any system it seems and is our strongest all around player.

Melo will never win an NBA finals because he doesn't play team basketball. With that being the case, he has to go.

Stat is a weak link on the court. Regardless of what his historical averages were, he is physically weak.

Even Iman who will hopefully have a quick and full recovery will not be as athletic as he was. He too has to go.

We need quality healthy selfless players that are willing to become part of a cohesive team. I don't think our current roster has players that fit this bill.

^BTW I know they will never implement the above plan because they are committed to this flawed team already. But it is without a doubt the correct move.

MLE on Lin

Try to resign Fields, Novak, and JR for cheap (doubt any of them resign, Fields might be worth the least of those so hopefully he stays with Lin and can start shooting better again)

See what we can get for Amare, try to keep it on down low. I bet he stays though.

Resign Jeffries and Jorts.

Try to sign Nash for cheap. Bring back Bill Walker for min as well

The pick is so bad though, late second rounder. Hopefully the Knicks staff tries guys out like mad. Definitely a guard. I've surprisingly been impressed the past 2 years hope they don't let me down on the 3rd

Sucks there is just not much money to work with these are all pretty obvious and doesn't really get us going next year unless some great chemistry between Lin/Melo/STAT emerges and Melo/STAT rebound better and defend
