The Official 2015-16 Rebuild Thread

After the 2014-15 Season Tyson Chandler, Amare, and Carmelo will all be free agents. This means we'll have another shot at building a championship team but only if Dolan dies by then.

So basically it only took 2 years for it to become completely clear that this team will be stuck between mediocre and great, and they'll never win a championship. 2015 is like the new 2010 for us smh

I guess ill stop with my negativity now, but just outta curiosity who's gonna be a free agent in 2015?

*EDIT*

Just thought i should add this, perhaps we should embrace being maybe a 2nd round team. Why? Think of all those years where we didnt even make the playoffs. If the media and other fans wanna sh*t on us, they can suck an aids d*ck.

Lin is still far from being elite, and has alot of flaws in his game, but by 2015 dude would probably be a beast by then

Shumpert already makes his presence felt on the floor from a defensive standpoint, by 2015 if he's able to stay healthy dude will be force especially if he continues working on his offensive game.

We won't get to the 2015-2016 rebuild, because we operate on a rolling rebuild plan.

This means that it's likely Amar'e's and Melo's terrible contracts will be traded for even worse contracts by 2015.

Welcome to hell.

The best scenario: (Amare traded already)
Extensions: CP3, Melo, Chandler.
PG: Cp3
Sg: Sign Jimmer Fredette
SF: Melo
PF: Heck IDK Bass?
C: Chandler.
Another scenario
PG: Lins a FA he can be back
SG: Shump
Sf + PF + C = IDK
Another:
PG: Sign Jimmer
Sg: Shump
Sf: Resign Melo
Pf: ?
C: Resign chandler

C: Chandler
PF: Kevin Garnett
SG: Shump
PG: CP3
SF: ??

Elite team right there. Top defensive team and none of them are ball movement stoppers. This is a team that can probably bring down current Miami depending on the 5th member.

KG would be well and truly retired by then surely? If not he would be playing very limited minutes.

2015 is the year that we will hand Jeremy Lin a max contract to come back, after we loose out on Irving who is going to the Lakers.

I think Kevin Love may have the option to opt out that year as well.....If it looks like he won't sign an extension though, Minn will probably trade him like we've seen with Dwill, CP3, Melo, etc.

Being an ole-man fan of the Knicks .. has not been very rewarding lately, the good ole-daze of Earl Monroe, Sugar Ray, Cartwright, Bernad King, and Ewing are all gone.

The Knicks has been going down hill as a scrub NBA team ever since the Allan Houston resigning of $100M max contract in 1999....to the $100M max contract for Carmelo Anthony in 2011.

u just dont give a NO-DEFENSIVE-EFFORT player a $100M contract .. its different if u drafted the player to watch his fan base increase by a large percentage each season, or if u trade for a no-defense-player in the final year or two of his max contract to boost your advantage in the playoffs .... which a lot of NBA teams will do for the Knicks in the final years of Amare & Melo contract.
How many seasons will it take to realize Melo & Amare dont co-exist?
Two first round playoff seasons and we are still blaming injuries....Damn!

If for argument sake Jeremy Lin DOES become a beast by 2015, then the Knicks will have max cap space that summer to offer him a contract. What's the difference? Why would it have been better to build off Lin & Shumpert for 3 years rather than trying to win now with veteran players? I'm having a hard time understanding this. We have a window of 3 years while we have STAT, Melo & Tyson on the roster. After that the window is closed & it's going to be time to rebuild again. Unless we were going to dump STAT & Melo's salaries NOW to gather young assets, I don't see how building around Lin would have made the most sense. This team is being built around Melo & STAT, it's pretty obvious. Until those guys are off the team, that's how it will remain. We need to think about putting COMPLEMENTARY players around those guys, not guys that will have trouble meshing with their style of play.

If the point is not to try & win a championship right now, then what is it? To watch a team rebuild year after year after year in some kind of hope that a guy that was about to be cut & sent down to the D Leagues a few months ago would somehow lead us to a championship in 2015?

If you have no hope that we can build towards a championship in the next 3 years then what is the point in even watching these games? I'm curious to know why you seem to feel that building around Jeremy Lin & Shump gives the Knicks a better chance at winning a title over building around Melo & STAT? So when exactly do you feel is the RIGHT time to try & go for win now mode? When Lin is a superstar player in 2015? Do you know for sure that's what he's going to become? I don't. & Even if he does, what's to prevent the Knicks from pursuing him as a Free agent? Once again, the books will be completely clear by that year & the Knicks will have all the cap space in the world to offer him a max deal, IF he becomes the star player you are projecting him to be. Right now, with the contracts we have on our books, our #1 priority needs to be on trying to win a championship, not on developing young players with the hope of winning one in 2015.

Im not sure what this team should do but I do know that we're not built for a championship. One of our stars needs to work a little harder and the other one needs to work alot harder.

Last year, Amare looked uncoordinated and old. Carmelo looked disinterested at times with playing defense. Hopefully Stats not just sweet talking the fans and he means what he said about what he felt he learned from the Miami Heat.

We got a good team but not quite enough to overcome Miami or Boston next year in my opinion. I think we're a little better then the Nets at least, but I was wrong to make this thread. I should be content with having a 2nd round team as my favorite team in all sports after all those years of embarrassment, pain, ball stomping needle poking torture
