Bench him as soon as the very next game. Insert Prig in the starting lineup, bring Kidd off the bench, but keep him on the court in the 4th quarter. You will see a big difference on both sides of the floor.

Oldtimer...
This sounds like 'Antoni talk. All offensive perspective points (that I agree with)
...but what about the "D"?
I get the feeling that we are incomplete; that half of our team is good at one thing, and the other plays D. Like if we mixed:
Felton's handle and heart with Kidd's D and shot... we'd have a CP3
Or if we mix Stat's offense with Chandler's D... we'd have a Garnett
If we mix Shumpert's D with JR's offense... we'd have a Wade
Melo's O with Brewer's D... Lebron
You get my point. Everyone does just enough to not get buried and scrutinized, but too little individually that a compliment is needed.
Why is no one mentioning the lack of defense by our starting guard? Nash with almost a trip-dub off a broken leg. Lin. Felton's lateral movement is slow of foot, and he's not playing the passing lanes.
PG's are almost abusing him. This is not the recipe for success.
Red . .
I do not know enough about "playing" basketball to "see" the intricacies of bad defense, except through the box score. What you observe makes a lot of sense.
Kidd has lost a few steps and cannot keep up with the young quick guards. I can see that. Felton's defense appears adequate to me. Perhaps I am missing something. JR has looked good to me. Brewer has had a defensive ruputation, but I have seen very little that stands out. Chandler has been inconsistent.
I'm not sure if he should be benched just yet. He's having a bad run but he's also had some great games sporadically during his slumps. Lets lower his minutes though when he's not feeling it. I don't understand why Woodson allows him to stay on the floor when he isn't feeling. That's JR treatment
Raymond Felton is questionable to play on Wednesday against the Suns due to his sprained pinky finger.
Felton sprained the pinky on Christmas against the Lakers. The point guard admitted that he "ain't the same" with the injury and would have to "see what happens." Felton said he won't play Wednesday if the injury bothers him like it did in the fourth quarter on Tuesday, where he couldn't shoot or pass as he wanted. Owners shouldn't have to wait long for an update, but they will have to check back to determine his availability. If he sits on Wednesday, Jason Kidd and Pablo Prigioni would be tasked with running the point.

Felton's defense as been as bad as his offense.
The era of individualism on a NBA court has ruined this game over the past decade. What's the BS talk about a 2nd option? How about playing team ball and take what the defense give us. How about penetrate and kick it out to Novak for a 3? What about transition quick baskets? What about finding a slashing player towards the basket? The Knicks just look like an old and slow crawling engine. It's the same old tired half court ISO game.
They should be thankful they are in this god awful Eastern Conference. If they are lucky, they 'might' get to round 2.
I got a chance to watch the Rockets dismantle the 'best' defensive team last night on National TV. The same team that the Knicks have failed twice to beat this season. The Rockets finished with 4 players scoring 20+ points! 4! Team BALL ROCKS! It's how the game should be played.
1. Check the enemy PG's box score
2. Notice "how" they score as much as how much they score.
When I see Felton's lack of lateral quickness (his ability or lack there of to move laterally to attempt to stay in front of his man) it is boarderline concerning. Guards getting into the lane at will, especially a near 40 yr old off a leg injury, considering Felton's speed and quickness; it tells me he lacks technique and fundamentals.
Then I notice his penchant for self-induced flopping on every contested lay-up. This tells me he needs work on proper body position and release.
The floater is one weapon to use against taller defenders, and he does. But, another weapon he needs to improve is purposely draw contact, maintain balance and put yourself between the defender and the ball. That way when you lay the ball up, a defender must make contact (foul) in order to block the shot- and he still gets a quality shot up.
Just like on offense he relies too much on TC with the floater/lobs... he relies too much on the help defense to bail him out. If Felton cannot adequately stop his man, he cannot start. See Lin, Holiday, Nash, Nelson, Parker and a slew of others vs Felton.
Out 4-6 weeks time for Peety Pablo to step up
Although Felton has defensive intensity, he literally has no idea how to defend on pick and rolls and he gets abused 1 on 1...Hopefully Prig can step it up.
Felton haters must be happier than pigs in sh*it.
here's hoping old man Kidd can stay healthy for 4-6 weeks or we're fu*cked.
Knicks should look into picking up Cliff Paul from the State Farm...
The New York Post is reporting that Knicks guard Raymond Felton will not opt for surgery on his fractured pinkie finger, but will still miss up to 4-6 weeks with the injury. Felton met with a hand specialist Thursday, who determined that surgery will not be needed to repair the "complex" fracture. He will need a split to stabilize his finger. He re-aggravated the injury during the Knicks' loss to the Lakers on Christmas Day.S Sports.
This is not good news ..
We want Jason Kidd healthy for the postseason games ..
We dont want Kidd injured in any sort of way before or after the All-Star games,
by being force to play 34 plus minutes per game ..
Why did we decide to get a non-passin tier-2 PG-Felton instead of keepin a hungry-creative tier-1 PG Jeremy Lin?
Felton's injured finger is not going to make him play any worst than what he's been playing this season,
we need to get Felton punk-A... back on the court.
We dont need Felton service in the 4th quarter, he never was a decent finisher .. but we do need 24 minutes per game of Felton service in the first 3 quarters of the game.
Rookie PG-Pablo is not a 30 minute point on a contender team.
And if anyone has not notice .. Jason Kidd is our best SG we have on the court.
