Who do you want the Knicks FO to sign to complete the roster?

Birdman? Anyone? I liked him in 2009 when Denver made a run to the WCF, not sure how he plays now though..

Open to the vets min, check
Defensive player, check
More tats than JR Smith, check
Former drug addict, check
Under investigation for child pornography, check!

Looks like a Knickerbocker to me. :smokin:

Chris Anderson would be awesome here imo. He's a shot blocking machine, athletic, could play backup to STAT and be a 3rd string Center as well.

I would love the Birdman here....He is a good rebounder and plays defense plus he has a high motor

He would be the 3rd string Center

The thing is if he is more of a need than Andray Blatche who is a scoring PF
We need to stay FAR away from Andray Blatche. He's a locker room cancer, and is as lazy as it gets.

idk man, i think Andre Blotch has real skills, just needs a place to fit in and get his ass kicked, esp by the hard-ass vets we got on this team. i don't think he's an Eddy Curry, especially for a vet minimum deal, so I wouldn't count him out.

if KMart really wants money, he might as well go back to China. when you win in NYC, endorsements come your way, and there's no better place to live, eat, wine n dine, get laid, etc.

Birdman would be welcome here, for sure. another defensive intensive tattooed love child to bolster the bench. sheeeeit yeah.

Chrish Swish... smh.

Kinda agree with MeloforMayor a little on the Birdman -- multiple drug offender and now the child pornography thing...Not to mention that on the court, basketball/skill wise, he doesn't seem to be the greatest fit for what we need. He's a shot-blocker hustler type of PF where I think we'd be better suited with a PF that can score the ball. I really don't think he's the greatest fit. Think about it -- Amar'e's our only true big man scoring threat. Chandler and Camby will get their opportunities on lobs at the basket, offensive rebounds, etc. but they're both defender/rebounders..Rim protectors. Birdman brings the same type of play only he's not as good at it and not as big as those two...We've got that element covered already. Now gimmie a guy that can come in and spell Amar'e for stretches (keeping Amar'e fresh for a whole 82-game schedule should definitely be a big priority for them) and potentially replace some of his interior scoring if he ever went down. I'd like one more interior scoring option on this team to go along with Amar'e. Let's face it -- if Amar'e ever goes down for a long stretch, we're a much easier team to guard...and a much easier team to beat in a potential playoff series. In that worst case scenario I'd like to be able to substitute in another scoring big this way we maintain that interior scoring threat and overall balance. DJ White would be perfect...If he wants too much money, former North Carolina PF Deon Thompson or D-League standout Darnell Lazare would be two good cost-effective options. I just don't see Kurt Thomas as that guy anymore. Isn't he the oldest player in the league?? Does KT have enough gass in the tank for an entire 82-game schedule and then hopefully a long playoff run? I don't see it. We're already gonna be holding our breath on Camby, Kidd and some of these other older guys that we plan on relying on..

Birdman or Donte Greene would be nice additions Imo.

I feel ya on Donte Greene. Reminds me of a young Tim Thomas. Not the prototypical PF I think we should be looking for (this guy's more perimeter oriented), but I think we should still be interested...Just on that size and talent alone --6'10" with those skills, ability to shoot the ball and that potential??? Sign me up... Would he come for what we have to offer? That's the thing..Probably not but we'll see. Some of these leftover FAs should get more desperate as training camp approaches. The price tag should drop some as the days go on. Gotta be patient and see how it shakes out. Gotta be what Grunwald and co. are thinking as well.

Greene has us as one of the 3 teams he's considering, im guessing he knows we can offer only the Vet min.

Birdman is everything I wish Jared Jeffries could have been but never was going to be (except for the off the court stuff obviously):

I wonder what kind of deal Craig Brackins got to go play in Italy. That guy really would've been perfect backing up Amar'e. 6'10", young with a lot of potential and big-time scoring skills. Decent rebounder too. Just gonna come on here to talk him up again and I saw that he signed to play in Italy. Oh well. Anyone have the particulars on the contract he signed? Can't find any info. on it...

what relevance does this have to the Knicks current situation?
could've, would've, should've? who cares?

sign the Birdman! that video has more highlights than Girafferies entire career! at least the Birdman can fly on the offensive AND defensive end. with a solid defensive core around him, the Knicks D will be shored up the entire game! Chrish Swish???!!!!

btw, what kind of child porn was on Birdieman's computer, what age group did he like,
and did he prefer little boys or girls?

just kidding... IRRELEVANT!!

So would I, but it would appear that Kmart will not sign for the minimum, at least not yet.

Not sure how valid this is, but I just read this on Rotoworld:

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nba/2038/chris-smith

Updating a previous item, Chris Smith's contract with the Knicks is for two years and is partially guaranteed.
Not only did the team give J.R.'s brother a two-year deal, they also gave him one that is partially guaranteed. According to beat writer Al Iannazzone, there is a "good shot" that Smith will be on the roster when the season begins. Smith did not start a single summer league game and shot under 30 percent during his audition. We think it's fair to say that some eyebrows should be raised here, but we can't say it surprises us at all. Aug 2 - 9:32 AM

If that's true than I'm disgusted.

I posted this in the free agency thread too, i had a feeling he had Brooklyn on his mind but i didn't see the Lakers coming. Brooklyn i can understand but why the Lakers? they have enough bigs already Gasol, Bynum, Jamison, Mcroberts, and Jordan Hill. The Lakers make no sense, but K-Mart can very well be using both these teams as Leverage. But if these are his preferred teams I can see him in a Brooklyn uniform this season :barf:

Probably just leverage if anything, he would get more time here even as a back up. STAT is always a potential injury risk and the Nets already have Teletovic & Evans backing up the 3-5. At least here he could get some minutes at the SF position behind Melo if we needed defensive stops and he is well capable of defending that position.

Whatever happens he will probably end up signing for the vet's min.

K-mart never even lived up to his 90 million contract in Denver and at this point in his career he should be trying to win a ring instead of looking for a big payday. I'd love him on this team but I hate the way he's acting right now.

If there is one person that I think the Knicks should sign to complete their roster it is Patrick Ewing. Pat Ewing at 50 years old deserves a second chance with the Knicks after he was disrespectfully traded away 12 years ago for a bag of basketballs.

I think he could fill in the role very well as the Knicks third center since he isn't that far apart in age from Kidd, Camby and Thomas. All Ewing really has to do to contribute is stand in the paint of the opposing team's side of the court and he will create more defensive nightmares for opposing centers than Vin Baker, Eddy Curry, and Jerome James ever did in their tenure with the Knicks.

I also think that having Ewing here would help guys like Melo and Amar'e humble themselves since they will be sharing the lockeroom and the floor with someone who is a top 5 all time Knick player, one of the 50 greatest NBA players and an NBA hall of famer.

I think Ewing should be hired as an assistant to work with the big men.

Lou Amundson's agent says he's had an ongoing dialogue w/the #Knicks about Lou landing in NY. Of note: NY can only offer veteran's minimum.
