We will be just fine...the defense will be better by by virtue OF NOT TAKING AS MANY THREES LEADING TO RUNOUTS AND EASY BUCKETS FOR THE OPPOSITION
We will be just fine...the defense will be better by by virtue OF NOT TAKING AS MANY THREES LEADING TO RUNOUTS AND EASY BUCKETS FOR THE OPPOSITION
To be honest the Heat only had Chalmers and Battier carrying them from 3 most of the year....it was their defense that won them the ring
Defense wins championships
However, getting Brewer as much as i like the defense we should have nabbed a guy like Jodie Meeks for his outside stroke...we need to spread the offense BUT with legit PG depth we not have to spread the floor so much with guys that can acutally orchestrate an offense....
unpredictable right now since we have half of a new roster, full training camp, and new coach to start a season...anything can happen but expectations are a 2nd to 5th seed for me, regardless of anything else we have to be a solid team
I love the defense and hopefully Amare can find his stroke
That's my concern with ISO ball. Isolation plays had the team suffering run-outs by opponents far too often last year, as the Knicks' predictable and non-cognitive offense stunk up my NBA League Pass subscription.
Opponents flood the paint once an isolated shot goes up, and I don't think less 3s taken will solve much for this team if we continue to pit one man against the other, and still lack in continuity between STAT & Melo, between the backcourt, and also by referring less to the P&R/P&P.
I don't want to see a repeat of botched isolation offense out of Anthony or Stoudemire or, for that matter, JR Smith.
I think Melo will bring it this year, all signs point to him doing so, but if STAT and JR come out playing their bipolar offensive games, isolating and menstruating, there'll be another start to the season that's showered with MSG jeers.
The majority of failed iso offense last season, naturally, was under D'Antoni. I am aware of that - who isn't? But there'll have to be less isolation, or more designed plays that feed off feigning an iso play. Very interested to see what happens, but even with optimism going in, I'm still a little concerned that if it doesn't work (isolation offense), where do we turn from there?
I'm sure we'll be fine and our defense will provide the wins, but I still have Melo-VS-D'antoni-STAT-itis.
Know what I mean?
Hey Crazy, happen to MELO's stat line? 37 on 10-12 from three breaking two American records. Not bad for a guy that can't shoot
The Knicks have to many 3-ball shooters .. u can start with Camby.
The Knicks roster are missing a decent PG defender ..
Shump's healing ACL injury will not be fully ready to defend PG next season.
Felton will be forced to be our PG defender for 2 or 3 quarters per game ..
which is not something Felton has been succesful at doing on his previous
teams....Bobcats/Knicks/Nuggets/or Blazers.
REAL TALK
Tyson & Camby are a B+ defending center
K.Thomas & Stat are a B defending PF with help from Novak
Melo & JR.Smith are a C- defending SF .. need help from Brewer
Brewer is a C+ as our 30 minute defender at SG
Kidd & Felton are a C- defending the leagues quick young PG
so many things wrong with this post, starting with too many 3 point shooters... STARTING with Camby?
that's just inane, insane. the complete opposite of what Knicks are lacking. is this bizarro world?
it's more important to have an offensive PG who can distribute the ball and make things happen, a team defense takes care of the opposing team's PG, especially on P&R and driving to hoop. Knicks should have that taken care of this year. this whole real talk whining about defense is bogus. c'mon girl, your real talk is coming out your sandy vag.
too dumb.
Tyson and Camby are A, A+. what about Tyson's D on DwightHo? Camby's block party persona?
Brewer is C+, are you f*cking nuts? one of the best defenders in the league!
Kidd is C-?
smmfh
-We have a few players that should be less hesitant to jack up a 3, Camby IS NOT one of them
-Your right about some point guards burning our point guards, which is why against some teams we can have Brewer defend point and slide the PG over to defend the other teams SG
-I agree about Chandler and Camby being B+. Camby was great at everything except low post defense. Chandler is great at that, for Chandler to be an A he just has to keep his cool a little more in my opinion.
-Stat's a B level defender? More like a D level, and Novak wont do sh*t to help. Kurt Thomas is a B level defender, i agree there
-Melo is a C+ defender in my opinion with B potential
-JR Smith is SG, not a SF. And hes about a C on defense
-I give Brewer a B+ defensively from what i have seen of him
-I agree about Kidd and Felton being C- against young athletic point guards, Felton might be a little better then that though
The most inaccurate thing u said was either Camby being a 3 point shooter or Stat being a B level defender.
I see Brain fart. Well, I'm about to cliché your pantaloons off, but we're gonna need a good shooting season from every offensive threat. As lava hot as Melo's been, he's defended a lot differently in the NBA, and he plays impeccably well with impeccably good passers.
He's a matchup nightmare in the NBA, but he's a matchup phobia in any FIBA competition.
That game against Nigeria was amazing. Mind blowing. Jizmarrific.
It all boils down to how effective Felton & Kidd will be in orchestrating the offense. If they can effectively get into the lane & draw defenders to them for dish offs in the screen & roll, then the lack of perimeter shooters will not be as much of a factor. But if they're unable to get consistent penetration into the lane, & the Knicks' offense becomes stagnant with guys standing around & centered around Melo-Isolations, then it becomes a bigger issue.
