Durant's defense is better than Melo. Just because he has great defender's around him doesn't make him bad and Westbrook is an average man defender.
Durant is a better shooter from all area's than Melo.
Melo has finished below 35% from 3pt range 5 times in his 8 year career. Durant has finished below 35% once. His rookie season.
Don't even make me bring out the mid range shooting rangers. Durant's jumper has hall of fame potential. Melo always been STREAKY.
Kevin Durant when he was 21 had a better regular season than Carmelo Anthony ever had. Even at 22, he's had a better playoffs than Carmelo Anthony ever had. He scores more points, more efficiently, led his team further and is just a better teammate.
Durant was arguably the second best player in the NBA at 21. I bring up age because Durant is a BETTER TALENT and is MORE SKILLED. The last player to put up more than 27 PT/G (Durant had 30.1) on better TS% was 1990. Melo has never been that good. Just look at their career averages, and this is with Melo having significantly more prime years than Durant.
Melo career averages 24/6/3 54.5 TS% 20.3 PER .126 WSp48
Melo's best season 29/6/4 56.3 TS% 22.0 PER .153 WSp48
Melo's postseason averages 25/7/3 52.1 TS% 19.6 PER .106 WSp48
Durant's career averages 26/6/3 57.6 TS% 21.8 PER .154 WSp48
Durant's best season 30/8/3 60.7 TS% 26.2 PER .238 WSp48
Durant's postseason averages 29/7/3 56.5 TS% 23.3 PER .192 WSp48
Melo is soft.
Oh ****.
Can't post much till season opens n I rarely got internet connection these days....but dayummmm. This is why I gave Metro cred for MVP candidacy.
Goddamn. And peeps thinking Melo has more *RAW* talent?
No.
The dude's game is just more raw. Durant possesses more raw talent -- not yet unleashed -- than anybody in the NBA.
The NBA has seen Melo's before. Like LBJ, the NBA has never before seen the likes of a KD.
Thus, KD having very reasonable claim to being the #2 player in the NBA. And he is improving every year. And an awesome teammate with a virtually flawless resume as a teammate -- despite being in the combustible situation of playing alongside quasi-PG-offensive force Westbrook.
Let's not get into what happened in NYC when a offensive-minded alpha PG stepped in for a short bit.
In retro, Dolan was prolly wise to let Lin go. The **** storm that already brewed wasn't going to get any better.
Gawd that vid is damning.
Melo is such a drama queen.
I like Melo a lot, but damn- I can't even defend that. I couldn't even finish watching it.

I miss AI in his prime. Wonder if I could duplicate that move he pulled on jordan in 2k.
That video gets me every time hahaha,
the best is JR playing over him and then pointing at Melo like "this ****in guy is in the way"
3 new ratings
Marc Gasol – 83
Pau Gasol – 87
Serge Ibaka – 81
I would have both Marc and Pau at 85, Ibaka would be a 76 maybe

you dudes will never understand what some of us are saying but I will not argue with you Metro because you're starting that bull**** up again
Carmelo and Durant are closer than everyone is making them out to be its ****ed up people wont give him the benefit of doubt when he came here to a **** team, played the Celtics by himself, the Heat by himself, hurt most of last year and yet got healthy, Woody put the team in the correct position succeed and Carmelo was playing better than anyone in the league the last month of the year, Melo's defensive numbers were vastly improved, he put on great performances of team ball and defense in the Olympics and yet he's soft, not skilled, top 20, a bum, a loser, etc.....
Whatever though the problem with Knicks fans has always been we never appreciate our best player and always bash him and put other's teams players on higher plateaus. Its fine Melo will prove you all wrong
Come on Metro! We don't have to pull up stats to know Melo is the better mid range shooter. The knock on KD is the fact that he settles for the jumper; especially the 3 ball more times than not. You can't say the same for Melo. We know he's a streaky 3pt shooter but that's not the point; his game is on the block & taking mid range jumpers. He has one of the best mid range games in the league; that's a fact. I think your Melo dislike blinds you to some of the obvious sometimes my man. My question is who do you want with the ball when the game's on the line in the 4th, Durant or Melo? I don't care what KD's numbers/stats are for the season, I know who I would want with the ball & it ain't the Durantula.
im not a fan of melo my dad is but thats true! melo find the way to get a shot off no matter what durant gets alway the benefit of the doubt with the whistle and settle for to much 25 footers! and westbrick is still the alpha dog on the thunders! game 4 nba finals most important game in the carrear of all of the thunder players not named perkins or fisher! who was the man on the team?! and they got the audacity to rate durant higher than wade! better rebounder, shot blocker, stealer, passer, higher basketball IQ etc. durant should be the same rating as melo, rondo and rose(because of injury)
You guy's don't understand.
Durant is a better shooter than Melo, always been and always will be.
Melo is "STRONG" but doesn't get to the basket as he should.
Melo takes 6.7 FTA a game with the entire system built around him.
Durant takes 7.6 FTA a game playing with Russell Westbrook.
At 21 year's old, Durant got to the FTA line 10 times a game on average., a career best. Durant isn't even 24 yet.
8.9 was Carmelo's best and hasn't gotten close to that in 2-3 years.
In fact, Melo becomes softer each season.
8.9 FTA - in 2010
7.0 FTA - in 2011 as a Knick
6.7 FTA - in 2012 as a Knick
So why is Melo who's stronger than Durant not able to be as productive in getting to the free throw line? Are we really going to blame D'Antoni for this?
Durant is better at Melo. At everything entirely, and hasn't even hit his full potential. We're seeing Melo at his prime right now and this is the closest he'll ever get to him. Durant is a MVP canidate and a #2 player in the NBA. Melo has never been on that status.
Melo's Shooting Percentage from the Mid Range Area
10-15 FT - 42.3% (Previous two season's Melo shot 37% and 36%)
16-23 FT - 35.0%
KD's Shooting Percentage from the Mid Range Area
10-15 FT - 39.5% (Previous two season's KD shot 47% and 47%)
16-23FT - 46%
KD is a more efficient mid range shooter, long range shooter, shooting at the rim. He has a better jumpshot, has better shot selection is just much more accurate and efficient. If you choose Melo it either has to be become you had a crush on him since his rookie year in Denver when he was rocking the female-like-corn-rolls. Melo is lesser than KD, this need to be understood. No personal preference, the numbers and game footage says so.
Melo is slightly better at rebounding and passing. Soon we'll see Durant surpass Melo at that level, so it's not a locked in skill for each.
