I want to do 4 divisions also.

Hey, I made the stat categories as follows

Field Goals Made - 2 pts
Free Throws Made - 1pt
3pt Shots Made - 2.5pts
Points Scored - 2pts
Off Rebs - 2pts
Def Rebs - 2pts
Assists - 2.5 pts
Steals - 2.5pts
Blocks - 2.5pts
Turnovers - -1pts
Fouls - -1pts
Games play - .5pts
Games Started - .5pts

I didn't include total rebounds, 3pt shots attempted, free throws attempted, field goals attempted.

I did the scoring system like this because it's as balanced as I tried to make it. Favors defensive players, assist guys, help defenders, centers who block shots, 3pt specialist, and offensive guys.

Example statline

Carmelo goes for 25 points = 50pts
8 - 21 FG = 16pts
1-5 3pt shots - 2.5 pts
7 turnovers - -7 pts
0 assist
11 rebounds - 22 pts
1 stl - 2.5pts
1 blk - 2.5 pts
Game played - .5pts
Game started - .5pts


Total stateline of 57.5 (I think, off the head math)

Plus the offensive board total bumps it up a bit. Should there be some sort of minimum penalisation for a really poor shooting game? Like a sub 35% outing? I dunno if that's even possible, but if someone goes out there (Kobe) and throws up a 10 for 33 game, then that's just in favour of sheer volume.

How intricate can the stats be?

For example, and I'm sure it's impossible but wanna throw it out there, if a member of your fantasy team hits a game winner.

I'm seriously gonna have to have a thorough go through with all the rules and so forth.

we'd have to use FG% as a category then, which makes sense for volume scorers. Kobe will get 40 and take 30 shots so I guess guys get faulted for Kobe's poor shooting night but still benefit from his points total

I think that's definitely fair, personally. Especially if someone's putting in 20-30% of a sh*tload of shots and still dropping 25-30 points. Sh*t's lame and lame to watch.

eg: -35% or less FGs equates to a 3 point penalty. -30% or less equates to a 5 point penalty, 25% FGs 7 point deduction and so on.

I can't stand the Paul Pierce's of this world that crank their stats by playing to the refs, either. So if someone like him has a poor shooting night but still gets 20-24 points out of acting and ***** play, penalize them.

I think it just goes by all your players for the week and which ever team has a higher percentage gets the category

PP is crafty as shet. Dude knows how to get to the line and generate scoring even if he's having an off night shooting the ball.

Didn't we use FGA at -0.5 to make this happen last year? That way you gain 1.5pt for FGM and 2pt for 3PM, plus a few more points for the PTS.

I prefer it that way, giving points for FGM and Points doesn't take into account poor volume shooting at all, doesn't punish you when your player shoots 30%.

Srry I've been aboard and mad busy, so haven't been able to check in much....but, ya, idk exact details on last year (i'd havta look it up to be 100% precise), but we did have something that equated to FG%; like Smoke mentioned, there was a penalization for essentially taking a shot and not making it (per the example in Smoke's post).

It's a pretty huge thing. In last years league, there was a very big premium on efficiency -- guys who could drop 10-14 a night, with high efficiency, while collecting boards, blocks, etc, were very very valuable.

A guy like Kobe was still very good -- as even a night where he only shoots 30%, will still give a ton of points if he's still scoring a ****load.....but, a high volume scorer couldn't just beast while shooting 30%.

Rest of the scoring looks same as last yr to me.

We really need to get these last few details hammered out, I'd really like to find out about last years scoring system. Our current one bears no resemblance to any rankings I've looked at and thus some players are going to be vastly inflated while others are lessened.

Here's how I'd do the shooting scoring system

-.5 for a FGA
+1.5 for a FGM
+2.5 for a 3PM

so if they miss you lose .5, they make a 2 you get 1.5 in your FGM and still -.5 for FGA and if its a 3 -.5 for FGA and +2.5 for 3PM and 1.5 for FGM

also if you lose a point for fouling shouldn't you get a point for being fouled
