The Knicks edge out the T'wolves 82-79 after struggling against them throughout most of the game. They were led by Patrick Ewing's 26 pts and 15 rebounds and improved to a record of 7-2.

The Knicks committed 27 turnovers in that game. The 2012-13 couldn't even commit that number of turnovers in 3 games combined. But it was a different game of basketball back then.

Mike Woodson is playing the role of Jeff Van Gundy, Melo is playing the role of Patrick Ewing, and JR Smith is playing the role of John Starks.

We all know how the '96-97 season ended for the Knicks.

"Eleven games into the regular season the NY Knicks send Jamal Crawford to the Golden State Warriors for Al Harrington. And trade Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins to the LA Clippers for Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley. In order to get salary cap space for the summer of Lebron, Donnie Walsh gets rid of two contracts that would have expired beyond the 2010-11 season."

Most of us still question whether the Knicks would have made the playoffs had they held on to Zbo and JCraw. Both of these players are currently important pieces for contending teams. The question I have is whether the Knicks organization would have traded these guys after the 2008-09 season had they carried the Knicks to their first playoff appearence in 5 years.

Many Knick fans believe that Walsh didn't have to trade these players so soon since the Warriors and Clippers were able to trade them to other teams not so long after they left the Knicks. I don't think it was a bad trade at the time compared to the Tracy McGrady trade later on. Walsh had a plan and didn't want to take his chances on these players' trade value dropping.

Even if the Knicks would have made the playoffs in 2008-09 they would have gotten eliminated by either the Magic, Cavs or Celtics in the first round. The process to get to where the Knicks are right now wasn't an easy one to go through but you could say that it was worth it looking at the current situation that the Knicks are in.

"The Knicks get a road win against the Detroit Pistons in double OT 125-116. Amar'e Stoudemire led the Knicks with 37 pts and 15 rebounds."

Stoudemire was a completely different player then. I wonder what the Knicks would give to have the old Amar'e back. They definitely need a second scoring option badly.

"The Knicks suffer one of their worst losses in franchise history by losing to the Boston Celtics 104-59 on a nationally televised game on the road. The Knicks fell behind by 50 at one point of the game. And had it not been for Nate Robinson's 3pt field goal in the final seconds of the game the Knicks would have had their lowest scoring game since the shot clock was invented."

Probably one of those most horrendous games that I've seen the Knicks play along with the 50 pt blow out that Dallas gave them a few seasons ago.

I normally don't like to post negative history regarding the Knicks but looking back at the Isiah Thomas era makes me appreciate today's Knicks team.

What an ironic come out considering the formidable team we had back then

Very true, even Stephon Marbury couldn't believe what he was witnessing.

Quote from Stephon after the game

Of course I am embarrassed. We lost by nearly 50 points,I'm angry. I'm always angry when I lose...To lose that bad was just ridiculous.

"The NY Knicks beat the Philadelphia Warriors 95-91 to improve to .500. After a slow start to the game the Knicks picked things up in the second quarter by holding Philadelphia to just 13 points in that quarter. They were led by Harry Gallatin's 20 pts."

Had to throw a really old one in there. I believe this was the first NBA season in which the shot clock was used. And I really can't believe that Harry Gallatin is still alive after all of these years.
