The last time the Knicks topped the NBA jersey sales team list Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford were running the show in New York.

Eight years later, the Knicks are back at No. 1 for the first time since Dec. 2004. That mark is based on sales on NBAStore.com and at the NBA Store in New York City from April 2012 through Nov. 26, 2012, a record-breaking Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The Knicks rose from No. 2 to No. 1 to emerge as the top-selling team, overtaking the Bulls, who are ranked fourth thus far this season. The defending champs Heat came in at No. 2, the Lakers at No. 3 and Celtics at No. 5.

The top-selling player on the Knicks is Carmelo Anthony, who came in at No. 4. LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant rounded out the top three.

Melo being that high kinda shocked me.. But then again maybe its because I'm reading realgm's general board too much.. where everyone seems the hate the Knicks and Melo except Knicks fans lol

No doubt our success would help sales but we did release new jerseys this year so I wouldn't read too much into it.

Besides, we're talking about an NBA store located in NY, I don't know how many % of all jerseys were sold at the store though.

Knicks have the best most loyal fanbase in the NBA. You know you have fans when guys like Crawford and Marbury in 04 are overtaking the rest of the nba in jersey sales. No casual fan will get his jersey much. The heat really are mainly bandwagon fans. When the big 3 is over with and a bad team ensues the popularity will plunge like those other Miami teams...
