    They grew up in the same neighbor hood, they're about 5 years age difference. JR Rider was actually in this group as well. Payton went to public school and Kidd to private. Payton actually team up with Greg Foster in high school as well. Payton was all set to go to St. John's but his scholarship went to someone else....adding to the chip on his back.
    Fun stuff, they actually were the starting backcourt for the 2000 Olympic Team, that was fun to watch. Good article from 1989 about GP and Oakland basketball:
