Danilo Gallinari went down with a knee injury during the Denver Nuggets' game against the Dallas Mavericks, and the initial exam indicates that he may have torn his ACL, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Gallinari suffered the injury while driving to the paint
during the second quarter of the game. His knee buckled as he planted his foot, yet another indication that it could in fact be an ACL tear as it was a non-contact injury. The Nuggets have announced that Gallinari will undergo an MRI on Friday.
Adding to the possibility that it could be an ACL tear, Benjamin Hochman of The Denver Post reports that a "source" close to the situation reported that Gallinari heard a "pop" in his knee.

If it is an ACL tear, that would serve as a huge blow for the Nuggets' season where they currently hold the third seed in the Western Conference. Gallinari is the Nuggets' second-leading scorer at 16.3 points per game, but his basketball IQ and defense have also been key to Denver's success this season.
Not only would Gallinari be out for the remainder of the season, but both the Nuggets and Gallinari will have to switch gears looking towards the future and handle the injury with great care should the MRI confirm the initial report out of Denver.
