I would kill to get either Mike Malone from Golden State, Brian Shaw from Indiana or Mike Budenholzer from San Antonio. All 3 bring what we need to the table. If not then Woodson needs to hire and offensive consultant and let him work the X's and O's
Let's be FAIR....Knicks win their DIVISION...they CAPTURE Home court for the Playoffs FIRST AND SECOND ROUNDS and Go to the Second Round by beating BOSTON. There's not a Knick fan who would not have taken that Pre season and just because Melo and Stat talk about CHAMPIONSHIPS they are full of ****. If the Knicks get past the Pacers they will be embarrassed by the HEAT who without LEBRON and DWADE could beat the KNICKS.
So instead of finger pointing...at Melo...at JR...and Chandler and WOODSON...know that this OLD team like BOSTON needs to be revamped. Camby, Q Rich , And KMart {who saved our season} and NOVAK whose useless and J KIDD and PRIG are not winning a championship..EVER. This team must be rebuilt around MELO, STAT, and CHANDLER. I like FELTON but there are 10 point guards in the NBA who better. So after our BIG 3 ...everyone is expendable...here's the problem ..they make 53 MIllion which is more than many NBA teams.....EWING had MJ the Knicks have LeBRON and CO and they are not winning championships. Lets thank them for a miracle season of 54 WINS and not beat them up over this PACERS series. The players you mentioned are not championship players either.....BRIAN SHAW...BUDENHOLZER...lol. Bosch , Allen, Cole, Battier, BIRDMAN and the Miami bench...could beat the Knicks. You want players...Get me CURRY for starters...lol. You DO NOT WIN WITH A 3 GUARD OFFENSE IN THE NBA....EVER.

I think we've needed to have been playing Novak. We went with him all year. He helps to space the floor and can make an open three.

I also think he's gone with JR too long in many instances. Cope probably deserves a share of his minutes at this point.

Woodson should not worry about offending or damaging JR's ego. He should do what's best for the team. If Ginobili was stinking it up like this do you think Popovich would play him?? No, he'd be glued to the bench.

I don't know why you start Iman if he's ailing either. He didn't look good out there at all. We got good results going with Prigs. Start him. I don't know why he didn't get any minutes off the bench.

Kidds looks done. I don't know what Woodson sees in him at this point.

We also need to stop going under screens, and I don't know why we were doubling Hibbert to start the game. That was ridiculous. We went with that strategy for too long even though it was clearly not working. Hibbert has had some good games but he def is not that type of dude. Let Chandler play him straight up. When we rotated over to him Indiana quickly moved the basketball to find open shooters.

JR will play 31 minutes if he is having an off game
JR will play 39 minutes if he is on...
Woody believes as gamblers do if you keep doubling down eventually you will win...He figures JR will get hot sooner or later...
An absolutely disgraceful way to coach.
    Prigioni 3 minutes.......Moronic.

Anthony needs to move back to the 3 spot next year. We're getting outrebounded every night, offensive boards are killing us, Hibbert has a full 10 feet clearance at the o boards each time. Why, defensive breakdowns, Hibbert sets a pick, all year we've switched out on it, now we don't, Kidd gets lost, he should have bodied up Hibbert immediately, kept him from the paint after the pick, he still tried to chase the ball, with Tyson perfectly in front of him defensively keeping him at bay, Kidd should have bodied up Hibbert. That is one problem. We don't have a 4 that can match up with West. If you can't count on Camby during the season....then as you can see you can't count on him now. That's a huge problem against Indy, you need a 2nd center behind Tyson, god bless KMart, but he ain't a center.

Woody needs to explain why he played Priggs only 3 minutes, yet stuck with KIDD for 18 minutes? Priggs has played well, while Jason has gone 8 games without scoring (and only had 3 points the game he did score 9 post season games ago). Meanwhile, Indy's PG, George HIll, had a game high 26 points and killed us. Why, why, why woody... why?

Woody played Kidd since he is a hall of famer with an NBA title....And yes thats true butt thats Woody coaching like a little kid again ( no pun intended )........Woody choose the best player based on past performance not who will do best in today's game.....same thing when JR had the Flu.....since he was slumping then let him sit and tell copeland you are getting the minutes.....instead guys are playing with no idea how long they will be on the floor...

Look at a guy like prigioni who got 3 minutes versus a guy like Smith who had 31 after playing horrible every game against indy......Woody is a moron

What is hard to fathom is that Woody elected to go with K-Martin, who is suffering with a bout of the flu, over Camby, Novak, Cope, Priggs... DESPITE the fact the results weren't there: we were still getting killed on the glass and Martin had ZERO points. Kidd and Martin gave us nada, yet Woody stuck with them? Perplexing.

I see a bunch of things that may be the problem.
Melo doesn’t know how to get his teammates heart into the game. He tries to lead by example but doesn’t really know how to get his team involved. He is the franchise player and he’s suppose to used that to his advantage. Draw the double and triple teams, create/design plays where Melo is not only the benefactor of the pick and roll but the decoy/initiator and distributor (he’s a good passer). Draw the double and have another big play the backdoor and/or cutting the lane for an inside shot/foul/kick out.

The 3 ball barrage only works when you have momentum, if you’re down you’ll have a daunting task of shooting yourself back into the game from the 3point line…in most cases you’ll be digging a deeper hole because every previous missed shot saps the teams energy and confidence. Amare has been a problem for us. His injuries have hindered the team by way of salary and lack of on court productivity. Inserting him into the playoffs where his own team doesn’t really know what to expect from him is a recipe for disaster because he throws off the rhythm due to his rust and unfamiliarity with teammates, his presence was more of a “lets see what you can do” instead of a “lets see what you can do for the team”.

Kid seems lost, his shot is nonexistent but his experience is valuable, perhaps he needs to be in a suit and tie sitting next to Woody, all he’s done thus far is create a little chaos on the defensive end because of his experience in creating turnovers. JR is defeating himself, he thinks too hard and puts way too much pressure on himself. He has to let the game come to him and help his teammates gain confidence by creating shots for them. The Jason Terry incident threw off his rhythm tremendously; his issue is more of a mental one.

Novak has been a bust this year, he had plenty of open looks and missed most of them, teams are not even playing defense on him. When he’s in the game the opponents leave him roaming around the 3line so they can double Melo and smith. No one respects his shot anymore and that’s why he lost his min’s, he can’t do anything else but hit the long ball. He hurts the team when he can’t do that because we can’t use him for anything else…not even as a decoy. If Felton expands his vision he can put himself in a great position. There is just too much scoring talent on the team, get more in shape, play more aggressive, set up your teammates by tricking/confusing the opposition. Stop taking so many 3 balls…only let it rain when the momentum is picking up, not before.

Chandler as a big man needs to be more assertive, don’t just expect to play defense, bang the boards and fvcking learn how to bully a shot/layup in the basket…at least you’ll get a higher chance at getting some free throws. If you are not putting up big points don’t bicker about others not putting up big points…be the example and let your game do the talking because everyone hears and understands that action speaks louder than words. Woodson showed me signs of panicking; he was too reluctant in changing up his tactics…as if he only came to the playoffs with a grab bag of tricks instead of a briefcase. He has to trust all of his players and only
used certain players for certain instances. It baffles me when he takes out Copeland and Shump when they start getting hot… thinking the substitutes will feed off that momentum, a few times the coach killed potential momentum benching his hot hands for a cold one. There are a few other minor issues but these stick out the most. Remedy those issues and the rest will work themselves out.

Woody crosses his fingers and closes his eyes and hopes for the best,,,,,,I have seen him ready to pull JR from the game but then suddenly JR makes a shot and he leaves him in,,,,,,,,He coaches scared and is afraid to deviate to the lesser known players such as Prigs and Copeland......

Does Woody have a plan or is just to go with the best players on paper despite what the stat sheet shows or on the cirumstances in a game.....

As a longtime Knicks fan this is just pure stupidity....

Smith is playing too many minutes.
I don't know why that is so hard for Mike to understand.

Have u ever seen people buying scratch off lottery tickets...

They buy 10 for a dollar a piece.....They win 5 dollars on one them and then buy 5 more....

They then play the next 5 and lose or sometimes witn their 10 dollars back....

This is Woody with JR....u let him play enough eventually he will get hot.....
I bet if Prigioni, Copeland, Q-Rich shot 18 times that they too can make 5 of them.
I agree lets see if JR can get hot or not but if NO then take him out.

    who the **** are you

Brian Shaw and Mike Budenholzer are the 2 most respected assistant coaches in the NBA and would add some creativity to the offense along with commanding the respect of our players like Woody does.

Miami would beat us without LBJ and Wade, proven wrong by them losing to us at home

    GTFO bitch

Carmelo could play the 3 if Amar'e wasn't hurt every year

we have no depth, well Camby is on the bench but I think he's hurt

we need a Lamar Odom-type 4 man who can stretch the floor, do something with the ball other than dunk or pass it back and rebound(8 a game), now I dont want Lamar Odom but someone similar would be nice

I'm actually not sure it's Woodson, i think it's more the fault of our personel. We only have 2 creators in Melo/JR and neither setup for their teammates well. Paul George has been killing both of them. In the article it highlights how much worse Melo and JR shoot when being guarded by George.

I think Indiana is objectively a much better team than the Knicks too. Better Point Guard, More Versatile Wing Player, a legit PF and comparable big man. David West or Paul George is going to out physical Carmelo all day for rebounds playing him at 4 and Tyson might be too hurt to match with Hibbert. Going forward into next year we need a rebounding specialist and a legit Point Guard.

Melo was going Ham in the Celtics series mainly because no one on the Celtics could/can guard him. Are we really playing all that different???? I don't think so...this team has always relied as Melo as an elite isolation scorer, and then contributions from others. The reason JR is taking as many shots as he does is the same reason Nate Robinson takes so many shots on the Bulls. He's the only person that can get separation himself without a PG, which we don't really have. I'm not worried, this year we saw the flaws, hopefully next year we can get the pieces to really contend.
