Knicks interested in Bobby Brown for PG spot

I'm not and neither should this organization.....why stop at Delonte let's go see what Gilbert Arenas is up to

I recall this from Delonte.....

[UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West was arrested Thursday after officers pulled him over for speeding on a motorcycle while carrying two loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun in a guitar case.

Prince George's County police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Reedy said Friday the Cleveland Cavaliers player was arrested about 10 p.m. Thursday.

Reedy said West was riding a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle north on the Capital Beltway in Upper Marlboro when he cut off an officer, who pulled him over.

West has said his mood swings seem to be most erratic when his life seems to be in order.
Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a Prince George's County police spokesman, said West was carrying a Beretta 9mm handgun, a Ruger .357 magnum handgun, and a Remington 870 shotgun. Copeland said the penalties West could face if convicted had not been determined.]

Then he explains the situation 2yrs later....

[NBA stories don't come more unsettling than the one that saw then-Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West arrested two years ago while driving a motorcycle (complete with sidecar) while carrying a disturbing amount of guns and rifles. The resulting fallout has created a litany of legal woes for the talented hybrid guard, who now plays for the Boston Celtics.

Little has come out about how West put himself in that dangerous, frightening situation until recently, when SLAM's Tzvi Twersky asked Delonte to tell his side of the story.

West was already groggy from his prescribed nightly dosage of Seroquel when some ne'er do wells partying in his home studio came across his stash of guns and hunting weapons. In his take, West insists he was attempting to keep his mother happy by riding his stash to another one of his houses. From SLAM:

[/INDENT]Yikes. It could have been a lot worse, apparently.
The interview is a must-read. It delves into West's continued struggles with bipolar disorder, and discussing the heretofore unrevealed fact that West was under a version of house arrest during the 2010-11 season. It also includes the line "I ain't lookin' for no nipple to cry on." So you can't lose, really.]

Around the time of getting caught on the highway with Weapons Of Warfare there was footage of him being involved in this....

If I was saying I wanted this dude to house sit for me while I was out of town your footage would have been very convicting...yet all I want is for him is to be our 3rd string PG

Z-Bo attempted to sodimize a stripper while she was asleep, ignited a riot, jumped an FBI informant and broke the eye socket of a teammate, not to mention stuff he has gotten away with that we know nothing about....yet as long as he can score and rebound it does not matter

People change West wants to redeheem himself an I think he'd be great... Plus New York has a way of humbling tough guys

Zach was not a good fit for us...we had Lee/Gallo/Chandler/Effries etc etc. I could care less what happened for Zach personally beneficial while he was here. Zach was good for Zach. There was an incident he was involved in at a Casino/Hotel I believe when here.

If all you're looking for is a 3rd string point guard then there are better options out there, with less risk...

Tinsley, Telfair, Mike James, just to name a few. Why the incessant desire to always find the reclamation projects in effort for them to turn their career around. We need players who help benefit our franchise..... more than our franchise benefiting the player.

The New York Knicks are not Mother Teresa, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Father Flanagan

Telfair presents potential off court distractions too! I like AJ Price a lot but is he truly better than West?

I don't want us to bring him here for sentimental reasons its not about simply doing a nice thing for a guy trying to comeback...Delonte West is a nice backup PG which is what we need.

He'll get a non gaurenteed contract if he acts up you cut him and guess what those same PGs you mentioned will be looking for work

You mentioned us taking on "reclamation" projects but 1.how man such projects have burned us in the way you are suggesting West will? And 2. These projects are based on what the player can bring to the team, no one is doing anyone any favors. Shawne Williams is the only such case I can think of and he was solid on the court for us and no problems off

I don't think the Knicks are going to sign him outright, they may give him a camp invite and let him win his job but supposedly he has other international offers paying him over a 1M and other NBA teams may be interested. It was only an exhibition but 30/7 is impressive against NBA pros.

Just saw the Knicks gave a training camp invite to Toure Murry but he's hesitant to accept because he wants to weigh other options that may give him guaranteed money. Knicks keep screwing around and we will wind up with Alan Iverson as the backup PG.

If i was these guys and it meant like $300K difference, i still would taker the lessor money to play in the NBA. If they are young and decent like this kid, they will always be offered 1 mil to play overseas. Just sayin. But your right, we need to commit fairly soon. Some of the sportswriters feel that Grunwald does have time to commit, saying they will always have these type players available, so why the rush

The myth continues to grow....

That is...."Players want to play in New York or at least play for "The Knicks" or "Players will come to play with Melo".....

I thought the lure of the City/MSG/The NYC Lifestyle/Endorsements/Winning Here vs Elsewhere... would attract all these guys to come here? Vet minimum guys are signing all over the place. Meanwhile we're working out guys like Raja Bell, looking at Delonte West, chasing Bobby Brown...who said China's better....

and now we're hot after Beno Udrich

Heck we even had one of the greatest regular season's ever as a franchise in terms of winning last season and most certainly over the past decade, so what gives?

I don't want to hear this excuse of..."Well we only have the so much to offer players to play here"...because did we not put ourselves in this position and yet the possibility of playing here doesn't trump all other reasons?

^Knicks realize quality PG's are running out, yet the lure of the Benjamins will always play a greater role
than the opportunity to play in MSG. especially when you're talking a million bucks plus, and the player hasn't
already made such money elsewhere, or won a championshop. fu*ck the lure of NYC.

If Knicks can get Beano Udick, I would call that a quality pickup. The Bean took over for p*ssyfoot injured Jameer Nelson last year, and played great PG minutes as a starter. In 27 games for Orlando,
he averaged 10.2 points, 6.1 assists. He is the man for the job.

Beno is a guy we should look at, that was prior to re-signing Pablo...Instead the organization signed Pablo based on emotional attachment and Melo factor instead of making smart business decisions for The Knicks. It not only ate up a good portion of our TPMLE, but cost us Copeland in the process.....

its not just we are only able to offer vet minimum it's also that we can't offer playing time

if you sign a vet min deal and then do not play then your market value shrinks tremendously...now if we were offering vet min and first player off the bench at your position you take the money because you have a year to showcase yourself and can re-up for more

Playing in NY is great still if players know they will indeed play in NY!!!!

Udrich can make more playing in Europe, doubt the Knicks sign him. Brown signed with a team in China for 1.2M but he has an out if he signs with an NBA team by August. Who's left that you think is worth signing?

So let me get this straight..... of all the guards and point guards we've pursued this summer, them not pursuing us...we're pursuing them with the qualification we won't guarantee them playing time?

So in other words we're intentionally showing up to gun fights with a knife?

I mean do really you think what you just said has any logic or merit at all?

So in other words no matter who's willing to sign here for what we can offer...endorse it? How do we know Brown was worth it? For what it's worth Farmar come back from overseas to sign with the Lakers for less than what Brown is making in China. Although Farmar is no longer available at one point in time he was.

Should I go through a list of point guards who signed this off-season between $1-3mil, not with us? You think those guys who signed with other teams could have made more playing overseas?

no you are complelty misinterpreting what I am saying...allow me to break it down for you

Raymond Felton is our starting PG

Pablo was re-signed and The Knicks have publicly stated he was an important resigning, thus we know he will be playing

So no we are not telling prospective PG's there will be no playing time here yet it's pretty damn clear that you come here you are the 3rd string PG...we added two front court players thus Shump slides back to SG and thus likelihood of us using 3 PGs are pretty damn slim, so I don't care what Woody and Glen's pitch actually is the facts suggest that a PG signing here ain't getting a lot of PT

so why would an agent have his client take min money with there being a risk that they sit out? It again tanks their value, if I'm an agent my thinking is why not just let them just go to Europe play superior ball and then re-pitch my client later this season or next summer rather than have them benched and try to convince a team next summer of how good he was in the 2012 season

This is why the crop of PGs we are going after is weak...it has nothing to do with our ability to recruit players to NY like you were suggesting

Farmar wasn't an option. He wanted to go home to LA and called the Fakers to see if they were interested, it was LA or bust for him. I don't even want to mention Delonte West to you but he's a good shooter, more of a combo guard but with the character problems that you hate.

Knicks offered Bemo Udick $1.4Mill/1year...
That's an insult to a guy like Udrih who just came off a 5 year 32M MLE deal .

Min money and for only one year, some guys would take the year because they don't want to get locked into a min contract for longer than a year but you can bet his agent is looking for a multi-year commitment for more than min money. He might take it if nothing better comes along but any team can pick him up for a 1 yr min money deal.
