    Recent meetings
March 14, 2013 New York, for the first time this season, was without the services of Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, and Amar’e Stoudemire kept in close in the first half but thanks to a 14 point third quarter fell behind Portland 78-62 after 36 minutes and the Knicks were never able to recover as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the New York Knicks 105-90 at the Rose Garden. Portland swept New York in the season series for the first time since the 2008-09 season. New York was led by J.R. Smith’s 33 points on 11-12 shooting (4-8 3PT) and three rebounds over 35 minutes. This was Smith’s second 30-point performance of the season. Kenyon Martin, in his first start with the New York Knicks, posted 12 points and five rebounds over 31 minutes. Marcus Camby added eight points and 10 rebounds over 19 minutes. Portland was paced by Damian Lillard’s 26 points and 10 assists for a double-double over 40 minutes. LaMarcus Aldridge recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds over 44 minutes for a double-double. JJ Hickson added 12 points and 16 rebounds over 34 minutes.
January 1, 2013 After missing season’s first 30 games (knee), Amar’e Stoudemire returns to action with six points in 17 bench minutes, but he and Carmelo Anthony (game-high 45 points after missing two games) can’t prevent wire-to-wire 105-100 New Year’s Day loss to Blazers at Garden...Nicolas Batum (26 pts), LaMarcus Aldridge (19 pts, 14 rebs) and rookie star Damian Lillard (21 pts) pace Blazers...Knicks go 10-37 from Downtown, Blazers go 11-33; combined total of 70 3PT FGA is two shy of NBA record...Knicks trail by as many as 19 (48-29, second quarter), then work lead down to three in final minutes but get no closer, as Anthony misses on a potential game-tying three-pointer with :15.9 left (103-100)...Knicks fall to 16-7 all-time on New Year’s Day.
    Game Preview

The Knicks (3-9) come in as losers of five straight after not losing more than four consecutive games in 2012-13. They're shooting just 40.9 percent during the skid and are averaging 90.3 points in the last three games as they've been without point guard Raymond Felton due to a sore back.

    Felton is still considered day-to-day.

"We'll see where he is tomorrow when he wakes up and comes to shootaround," coach Mike Woodson said at Sunday's practice.

Felton's absence was felt in a 98-89 loss at Washington on Saturday as opposing point guard John Wall had 31 points. Now they'll face Damian Lillard, one of the NBA's best scoring point men with 19.9 points per game.

New York's offense has been lethargic at times all season, averaging a league-low 8.7 fast-break points per game. That average has fallen to 3.7 points during Felton's absence, having an effect even Wall noticed.

"We know it's a different team without Raymond, because Raymond does a great job of penetrating and getting shots for those guys," Wall said.

Carmelo Anthony recorded his sixth double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds and is averaging a career-best 9.8 rebounds. But his field goal percentage of 42.0 is a career-low.

"It's a very tough time," Anthony said. "This is a time where you could easily put your head down and mope around, but I can't do that."

J.R. Smith is averaging 28.0 points over his last three matchups with Portland.

The Trail Blazers have won 10 of the last 12 meetings at home and nine of 12 in the series overall.

The armchair coaches around here thought our problems would be solved by replacing Felton with Beno and Prigs, this says it ain't so.

Remember last year, Knicks were on a losing streak and went on a west coast road trip and lost the first 2 games of the trip and made a phenomenal turnaround to their season in Utah. Maybe lightning strikes twice on this road trip.

1 win in Denver. Losses in Portland and LA.

This is one of those games in which the Portland starting lineup will be sitting on the bench by the 4th quarter after they give the Knicks a 32 pt deficit. Don't expect this D-League team that we have been seeing the past month to win any games on this brutal West Coast trip.

I say we can beat this team if everybody plays hard on defense for 48 minutes. Everybody thought that Pacers would beat Knicks in the garden by a knockout, but they showed up and almost won that game. Should have won if not for Shuperts mistake at the end of regulation time.
But that game was televised on ESPN. LOL. If you know what i mean

    Lech, you kill me man.

Let's treat the Knicks like the NY Math regents and lower the standards. If they lose by less than 10 it's a W.

I guess it's not about rooting for the other team, it's about being realistic.
