    Today in Knicks history

January 11, 2001 Knicks set an NBA-record, holding their opponent to under 100 points for the 29th consecutive game, but lose to Houston 76-75 at Madison Square Garden. The streak breaks a 46-year old NBA record set by the Fort Wayne Pistons in the 1954-55 season.

    Recent meetings
February 24, 2013 New York coming into the game with its longest losing streak under Mike Woodson, used strong defense in the first half and strong bench play late to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 99-93 at Madison Square Garden. New York was led by their leading scorer Carmelo Anthony’s 29 points and seven rebounds over 40 minutes. Amar’e Stoudemire led the way off the bench with 22 points and five rebounds over 22 minutes. Raymond Felton and J.R. Smith both added 14 points apiece. Philadelphia was paced by Jrue Holiday’s 30 points, five rebounds and five assists over 44 minutes. Evan Turner posted 21 points, eight assists and six rebounds over 41 minutes. Thaddeus Young recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds over 36 minutes. The Knicks were able to grab a big lead early as they held Philadelphia to 40 points in the first half on 16-42 shooting from the field (.381) and out rebounding the 76ers 28-21. Philadelphia made a late run in the fourth quarter cutting the once 20-point New York lead to five with :43.9 seconds remaining. The run proved to be a little too late and just short as the Knicks’ defense stood strong late and prevailed to the 99-93 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on a Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.
January 26, 2013 In a game New York never led, Philadelphia jumped out to a 12-2 lead and never looked back and they cruised to a easy victory and New York was defeated by the Philadelphia 76ers 97-80 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. New York was paced by Carmelo Anthony’s 25 points and nine rebounds over 39 minutes. This was Anthony’s 28th straight 20-point performance, tying him with Patrick Ewing for the second longest 20-point streak in New York Knicks franchise history. Amar’e Stoudemire had his best game since returning from injury with 20 points and four rebounds over 27 minutes off the bench. Philadelphia was led by Jrue Holiday’s 35 points, six assists and five rebounds over 38 minutes. Nick Young and Evan Turner both added 20 points apiece.

Do we still hold that record or did 03-04 Pistons break it?

The 03-04 Pistons broke it with 36 straight. Thanks again for the game thread, Rady. We have to keep it rolling against subpar teams. Need to win this one and not take any immediate steps backward with our play. JR watch is once again on tonight, too. Let's go Knicks!

Looking forward to this game. With the exception for a quarter of the last Houston game I haven't watched the Knicks in a month now.

You missed the 5 best games they played all season. Save that quarter that you saw in Houston where JR and Beno screwed up we would be on a 5 game win streak instead of 4-1.

Are the technical difficulties preventing everyone from seeing this game? I'm listening to it right now. Also, Hoopshype's latest rumor lists that 'rumblings' in Chicago have Thibs already scheduled to coach the Knicks at the start of next season. Seems hard to believe, but if it is true, I am ecstatic. Won't hold my breath though.

Hopefully they show Tina coming out of the shower at some point if the technical difficulties continue.

Does Woody have the balls to let JR stay on the bench tonight?

Now have the CSN tv feed with our studio team doing the play by play. It's actually pretty decent.
