    Recent meetings
December 26, 2012 Despite an off shooting night, New York cut a seven point fourth-quarter deficit to two, 85-83, with :25.2 to play, but Steve Nash’s six free throws (6-6 FT) in the last :16 coupled with a missed three-point attempt by Iman Shumpert as time expired sent New York to a fourth straight loss, 91-88 at Madison Square Garden. New York was paced by Amar’e Stoudemire who posted 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Iman Shumpert recorded a career high 20 points on 8-14 shooting (3-6 3P), Landry Fields added 17 points and Tyson Chandler grabbed a season high 17 rebounds. Steve Nash led Phoenix with 26 points and 11 assists and Grant Hill and Shannon Brown added 14 points
December 2, 2012 New York continued its winning ways at home as it grinded out a 106-99 victory over the Phoenix Suns at Madison Square Garden to improved its home record to a perfect 7-0 on the season which is the best start at home since the 1992-93 season. New York was led by Carmelo Anthony’s 34 and six rebounds for his fifth 30-point game of the season. Raymond Felton posted 23 points and a team high seven assists. Tyson Chandler recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season…The Phoenix Suns were led by Marcin Gortat’s 18 points and 10 rebounds. Shannon Brown recorded 18 points and seven rebounds and Sebastian Telfair added 11 points….In the first quarter, Anthony and his NBA leading 10.0 points average in the first quarter, led the Knicks to an early 24-20 advantage with eight points on 3-6 shooting. New York wasted no time in the second quarter as they saw its lead increase from four to nine in the first two minutes behind Chris Copeland’s four points and a Steve Novak triple to take a 31-22 advantage with 10:05. The Knicks, for the remainder of the quarter, continued to build its lead as they increased it to a game high 20-points behind 18 points from Anthony and Novak (nine apiece) to grab a 59-39 lead with :24.8 remaining. After a Goran Dragic triple to close to the quarter, the Knicks headed into the break with a comfortable 59-42 advantage. New York maintained complete control in the third period and wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Suns stormed a comeback. Phoenix, trailing 89-72 entering the final quarter, stormed out to a 13-2 run that crept them back to 91-85 with 6:55 left to play behind eight points from Telfair. New York answered with three consecutive layup from Chandler, Felton and Anthony to increase its lead to 97-85 with 4:54 left. Phoenix made one last charge as it trimmed the Knicks double-digit lead back down to 103-99 but it proved to be too little too late. New York, thanks to three late free-throws from Smith and Chandler coupled with two late Phoenix misses, was able to prevail to a 106-99 Sunday afternoon victory over the Phoenix Suns at a sold out Madison Square Garden.

Thanks, Rady. Suns are having a nice season so far, but we can take them if we continue to execute like a team. Let's go Knicks!

Melo is making some nice passes to setup our guys, they're just not knocking down the shots so far. Once again, our perimeter defense leaves something to be desired.

If you didn't know better, after watching this 1st quarter, you'd think Melo was the best player in the game. Rebounding, passing, blocking shots, and draining 25-footers. Also, we're still giving the Suns wide open three pointers on a regular basis.

JR comes in with 30 seconds to go in the 1st quarter to generally positive crowd reaction.

Very strong 1st quarter, especially for Melo. If we can sustain this effort we should be able to run this Phoenix team out of our building.

We're getting sloppy, we need an energy boost. An alley-op would do it...

Nice drive to the hoop by JR with the lefty hook finish...and then immediately gets into shenanigans down the other end, which does lead to Morris' 2nd tech and ejection, but still, not the nonsense JR needs to be involved with right now.

Never seen this coach selects who gets to shoot the other team's free throws before. Bet this guy from Suns drains them both.
