Why is it so crazy for Ainge to want STAT in a trade?

If they're moving Wallace's contract at $10M and Rondo at $12M...that's $22 million...

Bring in STAT's $21 million, and you can amnesty $21-$23 million right off of the books...

This is the NBA..not NBA 2K. Boston has the picks from Brooklyn, and if they can get more young pieces, and damn near a third off the salary cap off of their books in one felt swoop...they're gonna at least consider it.

Too often, people are looking at the game from a "on-the-court" standpoint, and their opinions are based on half the info.

Those are all great words and all, but you can't trade for someone and then amnesty them. The amnesty is only for players who are playing for the team they played for when the amnesty clause was brought into effect and are still on the same contract.

Boston cannot amnesty STAT nor can they amnesty Wallace as someone else suggested. Their two eligible players are Bradley and Rondo.

Not sure that's true Smokes, we amnestied Billups after trading for him. Got to look up that amnesty rule to see why.

Smokes is correct. It's the date of 7/1/2011 that's key. Most teams have already used their amnesty but Boston is one of the remaining and while Wallace can't be amnestied Rondo can.

"The basic notion of the amnesty provision of the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement is simple: Every team can waive one player and remove his contract value from the salary cap during a one-week window that coincides with the beginning of free agency, provided that player signed with the team before July 1, 2011. It’s a fully sanctioned mulligan in a league where mistakes are costly and rampant, and thus seen as a way out for cap-strapped teams that have few other alternatives."

Still hard to believe we picked up Billups options for 12 million only to amnesty him .

teams can only amnesty players they have from before the new cba agreement, not for players they acquire after

I never understood Knicks GM Glen Grunwald the day after the court decision was made that Novak & Lin were Restricted-Free-Agents. Grunwald personally had a press conference set up just to say, "We will let Novak & Lin test the FA market". What team does that? Especially when ....
Jeremy Lin's Knicks jersey was selling-out world-wide, plus Lin's name was selling-out our opponents stadiums east n west.
What NBA team would give up a player that match Lebron James & Kobe world wide $$$ fan-base?
When Lin did not sign or respond to Houston Rockets FIRST offer-sheet in two weeks, wasn't that the time for Grunwald to have a meeting with Lin? The Rockets had to give Lin 3 times his worth in the final season of a 3 year contract for Lin to sign.

I guess when Woody's butt buddy JR said " if Lin signs a huge contract of course that will cause an issue in the locker room " was enough for the Knicks to let him go....after all why keep LIN when we have Felton.
