New team president Phil Jackson wasted little time making a widely anticipated coaching change, dropping the ax on Woodson Monday, just days after the Knicks’ disastrous season mercifully ended on Wednesday without a playoff berth for the first time since 2010.

Woodson, 56, finishes his two-plus seasons as the team’s head coach with a record of 109-79, but the disappointment of a 37-45 mark this year — for a team owner James Dolan believed was a championship contender — proved too much for him to overcome.
