Dr. Norman Scott, the Knicks' longtime team physician and a pioneer in the area of reconstructive knee surgeries, has resigned after 27 years with the organization and about that many operations on Patrick Ewing's knees.

Scott and his wife, Dr. Susan Craig Scott, a hand specialist, sent their letters of resignation to the Knicks last week. The move comes a month after Knicks trainer Mike Saunders, who has also been with the club for 27 years, was reassigned within the organization.

When contacted yesterday, Scott, who has always conducted himself with class, said it was time for him and his wife to move on and denied that the Knicks were forcing him out.

"No one from the Knicks organization asked us to leave," Scott said. "That's not even a question. It was just time to move on."

Everyones talking trade, draft, making the team better, etc. I would like to know whats with the internal affairs.. coaching staff, medical staff, etc. Little shake up like this makes me wonder, are all these people leaving under their own power, or is Isiah pushing them out?
