Larry Brown - Defense Minded coach
Ron Artest - Defensive Player of the Year (2004)

Jamal Crawford = 6.5MM
Tim Thomas (Expiring contract) = 14MM
Cash = 600K
For:
Ron Artest = 6.1MM
Reggie Miller remaining contract = 6.1MM
Austin Crohere (Bad Contract) = 8.9MM

That would be a fare deal in my opinion. NY needs someone like Ron..

i think larrys a forgiving guy. he knows how talented artest is. he put up with AI in philly for a buncha years.

id like to see artest come to ny too.

and i like that proposed trade by timnak...but i think that larry bird isnt really looking to trade artest, and if he was, i think he doesnt like isiah very much and would probably hesitate to send artest to the knicks...

the only problem is that croshere would be yet ANOTHER PF with a bad contract. still, for artest, itd be worth it.

but stil...id really like to see artest come here. hes a top 10 player in the nba.

i just read somewhere that a key MID-season acquisition for the Knicks may be Pau Gasol and all it may take will be the expiring contracts of TT & Penny. Now that would be great to see if Isiah could make it happen!!!

a. that is very comical that you would base your judgement of a player on his video game ratings. i'm a huge fan of NBA Live. I've played in several tournaments for $$$, but I definitely know there's a huge difference between video games a reality.

b. he's a PF / C. just check out his stats in the olympics especially the game against the US where Duncan guarded him.

This is an excerpt from a RealGM article. It's heavily opinionated and more speculation than facts. But it still is a definite posibility...

"The most interesting aspect yet to come though are the expiring contracts of Tim Thomas and Penny Hardaway. That is over $28 million worth of cap relief for whoever wants to get rid of their high price talent.

Pau Gasol is the clearest option at this point, but Isiah might want to hold playing those chips until the season is well underway and teams that were believers stop believing. "

gasol can thrive in an offense that allows him to play as the focal point (spanish national team). but he also does well in a team structure (memphis).

if it were not for the heroics of our beloved Starbury, Spain would have easily beat us since they were daring our guards to take open j's focussing their D on Duncan.

Gasol is a great talent but he is soft on D, he doesn't come through under pressure in clutch situations, and for a seven footer to average just 7 boards is nothin'...i am a fan but im not sure i'd want him in ny...plus his contract is through 6 yrs and isint cheap $86.5 million...im not sure i want gasol in a knick uniform.

Gasol avg'd 9 rpg during his first two years with Memphis. Memphis then picked up Stromile Swift filling in the role of a rebounder / defender in the post that had been manned by Gasol. His numbers have dropped a little the past two years b/c of Swift and the fact that Hubie Brown liked to rotate the line-ups on a regular basis, even with this star players. He was avg'ing 7rpg the past two years on 32 mpg.

He is soft on D but Brown is a defensive specialist, and the Knicks have one of the best big-men coaches in the game in Mark Aguirre. Much has been said of the Gasol's potential and that he can turn out to be a very special player...imagine him under the tutilege of Brown and Aguirre.

Not sure what games you've caught but Gasol is most def a clutch performer. He can take you inside or step out to hit the long-range J. His D is becoming better now that he's bulked up the past year and he's the most physical Euro big in the game.

If he's able to be had for two of our expiring contracts, I'm all for it. He would instantly be better at either post positions than what we currently have.

yea hes not bad, esp for timmy and penny. back to artest - i think the differnce with him and AI is attitude/approach to game altho in the past few years AI has definitely improved. artest has a good approach but lets his emotions take charge sometimes, while AI just didnt wanna practice or be a team player (this has changed tho)
