The Knicks' five-day bonding session that ended here yesterday climaxed Wednesday night in the team hotel's ballroom.
Knicks coach/president Isiah Thomas invited Spike Lee to Charleston to show his gripping documentary on Hurricane Katrina to the players. Larry Brown may not have understood the purpose of this film session. These type of offbeat happenings will be the norm as Thomas tries to repair a fractured team he believes was divided because of Brown's erratic behavior.
"I felt we got a lot accomplished not only basketball-wise but bringing them together as a group," Thomas said after the final practice at the College of Charleston.
When the film was done, Lee broke down and cried as the players sat silent for about five minutes.
