? Since Isiah Thomas was otherwise occupied, Herb Williams ran the morning practice, but Isiah was back to run the evening practice

? Jerome James did not participate in all of the drills because he?s dealing with left knee tendinitis.

? Zach Randolph was excused after the morning session to return to Indiana because his grandmother is dealing with serious health issues. It?s not expected to be a prolonged visit.

By the way - nice youtube vid on media day

So glad we signed Nichols, he really is stroking it from beyond the arc. Great Video Trin_Starr, keep us posted on training camp.

Like I said, "Nicholes is a first round JEWEL picked up in the second round because Syracuse did not make any noise in the last two NCAA playoffs.".

Low and behold the Knicks got four 2007 Rookies (6.11 Morris, 6.8 Chandler, 6.8 Nicholes, and 6.2 Jordan) this season that will have a great challenge competing in every practice with the two 2006 Rookies (6.8 Balkman & 6.6 Collins), along with the two 2005 Rookies 6.9 Lee and 5.8 Nate.
The above is eight young uptempo players that play both ends of the court.

Day 2

* - Zach Randolph, who left after yesterday's morning session to be with his ailing grandmother in Indiana, is back with the team already. I was told he will practice today.

I talked to him after practice yesterday about his conditioning and how he feels. For the record, Zach was the last player to exit the gym. He also told me he's known Eddy Curry since the Nike camps in high school and has known several other Knicks -- Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson -- for years. There was no ice to break for him. Only on the court, which will come in time.

* - David Lee looks 100 percent and some of us were trying to distract him while he did some shooting after practice with Demetris Nichols. David hit 7 out of 10 from the baseline with the reporters in his ear. He was about 15 feet from the basket and I warned him he might get a nosebleed being out that deep. David's determined to show he can play a little 3-spot if the Knicks want to go big with Eddy, Zach and him in the frontcourt.

Day 2 - After morning practice

Day 2 of Knicks training camp had everyone present and accounted for, including MSG president Steve Mills and vice chairman Hank Ratner. No James Dolan, however.

Still, as Eddy Curry said, "everything seemed back to normal" after a Tuesday's busy day of the jury verdict and Isiah Thomas' late arrival to training camp.

We were invited into this morning's session to watch about five minutes of some half-court five-on-five. Clearly Isiah is emphasizing defense from the start while last season he had to spend a bulk of camp installing his offense. There were three groups that rotated in. When you got a stop, the defense went to offense and the offense went off the court. So if you couldn't get a stop, you were stuck on defense for a while.

The Blue five: Marbury, Collins, Jeffries, Rose and Randolph

The Orange five: Jordan, Crawford, Nichols, Lee and Curry

The White five: Robinson, Jones, Richardson, Chandler and Morris.

Jerome James participated in half of the practice, but was on the eliptical machine when the media entered the gym. Curry had a wrap on his calf and he later explained why.

"Jerome James," Curry said. "Anytime Jerome James is practicing, stuff happens."

To which one reporter quicky added, "Usually to himself."

Curry is fine. Just a tweak.

Trin u stopped pasting at the best part!

Thomas wasn't at all pleased with James' condition, or lackthereof. He was asked if James being on the sideline was not what he'd want to see, Thomas said, "Asked and answered."

:crossfingers:

if he can't make it through a morning practice then the season is out of the question for James... at this point he has to be so out of shape that even if he were to make it through all the rest of the practices.. he still wouldn't be ready for real game play
