If we had provided our backcourt players with strong inside players, we would have, at the least, made the playoffs.
If Gasol was available, in 2010, I'd say go for him. If he has an opt-out, and we can convince him to take it, we should let his agent know that we'll make a big offer. I'm all about getting back to what made this team great, great inside players.
Lebron will get us into the playoffs, just as much as a strong big man will, but, just like with the Cavs, he won't get us any further than that. He did make the finals, on one occasion, but I consider that a fluke and due, in large part, to the play of Ilgausaks, who's been their most consistent playoff player.
Now, if we want a title, we need a truly legendary type of big man: Yao Ming, Gasol (though he's underrated, just watch him and it's obvious he's a special player), etc., and I don't think Bosh, or Amare Stoudamire, is in that category. Just food for thought. If anyone can think of a big man that can take us back to Ewing type era, other than Gasol and Yao, feel free to rebut my post.
