Mets give themselves best bullpen in MLB

My name doesn't only apply to the knicks but to the mets as well. Im true Orange and Blue all the time baby.

With JJ Putz and K-Rod working the 8th and 9th innings next season the Mets should wash away the past two years with a serious bid at the World Series....

Your thoughts?

lol not the best in the MLB....if Joba gets moved to a set up man than the Yankees have the best 1-2 punch of any team in the Majors.

However, this was a solid move.

JJ Putz might react in a negative way that he is not the closer anymore but he would probably rather pitch set up for a playoff contender than pitch as a closer for the Mariners who are a horrible team.

Putz throws 95+ with some nasty breaking pitches and K-Rod does what his nick name says....gives you strick outs.

You know what K-Rod is going to bring, but I don't know about Putz...He didn't have a good year last year, so we gotta hope he bounces back.

However, while this certainly helps the bullpen, as does getting rid of Aaron Heilman, it is up to the rest of the pen to decide how good this staff will be. The pen is a bunch of guys who are working together to create advantageous situations...

Hopefully Duaner Sanchez gets back to his form from a couple years ago before he got injured in the taxi accident.

K-Rod had a devastating delivery, i do not think he will be able to keep healthy for the longest. Thanks God you guys didn't give him long term deal. He also has a habit of having more blows than you would ideally want from a closer of his caliber.

Now as far a JJ goes, i doubt he will be as effective as people think he might. First and foremost he will go into games with a different mentality. It is not the same closing games and being a reliever. He would need time to adapt and it is not a sure thing he will be able to come back. He had an abysmal year last season.

JJ's abysmal year last year was injury plagued. And for a reliever, it wasnt even that bad. He played for an abysmal team and still had his era under 4. He should be a lot better this year as long as he stays healthy. Because we have them both neither one has to worry about working more than one inning making them both a lot less injurie prone

Now that we have both these guys, guys like duaner sanchez can work the 7th, and feliciano can revert back to a lefty specialist (what he should always be) and scott blowenwies can revert back to never pitching again. Plus in the Putz deal we got a good ground ball reliever as well.

K-Rod = Overrated.

Guy blew 7 saves last year, and while I know he saved 62 or whatever, that means he also had 62 chances at least. Give Mo 70 chances to save a game per year, I guarantee he slams the door on 65 at least.

Mo blew 1 save this year. THIS year. He blew ONE save...KRod blew 7. The fact is Mo had 39 saves in 40 chances, KRod had 62 in 69 or something like that. Give Mo the same number of chances, I guarantee he blows less than 7.

The fact that K-Rod had that many save opportunities just shows how bad that Angels teams was in letting teams stick around. They'd never close them out and pull away.

Yankees were either crush them or get crushed.

No I think the Angels were just a small ball team, they won games by manufacturing runs and stuff. They didn't have a lot of power in the lineup outside of Teix and Vlad (and Vlad had an off-year)It's a fine way to win if it works, but if you try and play small ball and don't succeed you are going to be one of the worst teams in the league...luckily for them they had a lot of talent...

Add me to the list.

Look i won't go and engage myself in the who's better K-Rod or Mo discussion. That is simply because there is no contest. To make things simple i would just sum it for you mates:

K-Rod is one of the best in the game, Rivera IS the best the game has to offer in the closer role. Nuff said.

Mariano is one of the best, probably the best closer to ever play the game...no contest.
