Nice. Never saw those draftexpress international rankings before.
I never understood how a guard so talented and athletic as Ramunas Siskauskas was never brought over to the NBA. Although he might have had some serious injury in his younger years, can't remember now

Btw, Draftexpress having Maciej Lampe as no.9 in their international rankings is ridiculous... there must be some 50 better and more productive players in Europe. probably he's so high only because of his age.
Ditto for Drozdov at no.12 - who is this guy? I know that his Ukrainian team is pretty much a third rate team in Europe. If he was any good, at 28 he would play for one of the many better European teams, in a good and richer league by now

I've heard that Ricky Rubio will not be entering this year's draft and that he plans on entering the 2010 draft. Does anyone know if this is definite, or has he just not made up his mind yet?

Man, that's some detailed shit right there.
There's gotta be some shit hot talented Euro ballers out there that will never make it. Some of these boys are massive too, height and mass! Man, are half the collegians Ethiopian or something? Their collective weights bar 5-8 of the listed names are really low regardless of their age. They must be built like venetian blinds. Regardless, a good thread. After all the banter, I'd love to see a big man with some weight behind him join the Knicks. Not Thabeet mind you. Africans have a pretty poor collective reputation as consistent ballers.

Lets sell Eddy Curry to Thabeets tribe for a years supply of pork crackling. As well as an offering to their God of bum fun.

really nice thread Metro goes perfect with the other draft thread you just made it easier for me to do the draft updates

im really liking Greg Monroe, he's the guy i want us to take over anyone else in the draft his offensive game is good and getting better with every game, and his defense is great too, if he improves his rebounding which is getting better he'll be a Dwight Howard type center

the guy we need to watch the most who will jump up the boards is Jrue Holiday and Jeff Teague

I want Patty Mills.

Got the potential to be very similar to Chris Paul with his speed and natural ability. His height is his only negative.

if u check the new update i posted i wrote about that i read a story on a website(trying to find it again) that Rubio has said he'll enter the draft if he's a lock for the top-3 and thats likely gonna happen, my money is that Rubio will be in the draft

lampe was the mvp of the Russian league finals i believe.

Yeah Ozi!

He's our best point guard since Shane Heal. He's not pure point though that's all. His passing level is on par with N8's, & at that size it's a bummer. He claims to have run the 400m in 54 seconds too. Now that's quick. He's a handful on offense, but he lacks that Paul ability to deceptively show explosiveness. Everybody knows Paul is quick as a whip, but he only whips it out when the timing is right. Patty Mills has that Shawn Kemp issue, ie: too uptempo to the point of being out of control. If he's eligible, I'd love to see him as a Knick too. He'd be better than N8 and more consistent.

he is very similar to nate. I think he is a better playmaker though, but he doesn't have the same hops as nate.

I think knicks may package nate along with a curry/jeffries so Mills could be a good option.

he was mvp of Russian Cup finals, not Russian League finals
These are two different tournaments. League is a season long competition with playoff series at the end - like NBA in format. Russian cup is a separate one-and-done tournament like March Madness.

It's of course still an achievement to win the Cup. But winning one game is much easier than winning in NBA-like format of the Russian league. So take his MVP for what it is worth - one great game.

This year that team got Carlos Delfino and a couple of other good players. So i don't consider Lampe the best player even on his own team. And this team isn't really dominating any competition they are in - they are atm 6th in Eurocup, 2nd Euro competition after Euroleague.

That's why Lampe as a no.9 seems like complete fluke to me. his team isn't anywhere close to top 10 teams in Europe. and he doesnt look like the best player in his team. and he's still no.9? doesnt make sense.

That said, i doubt Draftexpress ever does scouting trips abroad, thats why these rankings are so messed up. Siskauskas as no.1 is easy pick, since he has been dominating SGs/SFs on both sides of the court in Euroleague for a few years, being MVP of Euroleague and champion. But all the other rankings look messed up. Take Pargo - I like him, but no.2? again, his team isnt really a top 10 euro team, only no.7 atm in Europe's 2nd league, and he hasnt really been the best player on his own team so far..

One thing that I think we learned over the last few years - it's that top Euroleague veterans can really play in the NBA and be decent backups/starters for most teams. Experienced Euro guys from top teams in their mid/late 20s can really help NBA teams - like Luis Scola, Nocioni, Navarro, Jasikevicius, Marc Gasol. They arent stars in NBA, but they are efficient 20-30 minute contributors.

So I think it's funny that Draftexpress has all these ex-NBA scrubs/marginal backups so high in the rankings, when u can find players having better seasons in much better Euro teams. Shows that probably these rankings arent very well researched

I thought Lampe was never really given a chance in the NBA...he plays a lot and produces a lot like Brad Miller...especially when I saw him play for Phoneix.

rollingstone, draft express has some of the most high profiled scouts reporting for them...dudes who constantly are in Spain, Italy, and practically throughout Europe...full time guys who are dedicated to given that site its resourceful info.

yep, that's right, i see now on their page that they have some overseas columnists.

still, i dont see how these overseas FA rankings can be reliable, since it's hard to understand what they are based on. They even include David Harrison, who is US born and doesnt seem to be playing overseas

as for Lampe, i think he could be given another chance in NBA, since he's still so young and fairly productive. but if those rankings are based on right-away impact (not upside), then i don't know how he is no.9 there. Majority of best overseas players are in Euroleague anyway, not where he's playing

so was Weis lmao....this draft is looking good for us i think we could get some value for staying competitive and not making the playoffs

say we end up with the 8-10 pick(which is where im projecting)

we could still end up with tons of great players, with even better potential, and who fit our needs:

Brandon Jennings
DeMar DeRozan
Greg Monroe
Stephen Curry

etc...

I'm growing a hard on for Greg Monroe.

This dude looks better than Bosh when he was a freshman at GT.

Monroe just had mad skills like Kiyaman would say.

He has really great handles for a 6"11 center, he could drive to the basket and has range from deep. His passing is really something special for a player with his ability.

He could score in the paint and just has a lot of skills and talent.

He's not an ATHLETIC BEAST like Tyrus Thomas, but I would prefer defined skills and productivity over a beast with just potential.

He's #2 on my list now...behind Rubio.

If Rubio stays a year, and we draft Monroe this year and Rubio next year...we got a squad.

2010

Rubio
James
Chandler
Lee
Monroe

6th man
Gallinari

= championship.

i think we have to do whatever we could do this year to get Monroe this dude is gonna be a Dwight Howard turned down a notch(just a little) with decent range

if we get the 10 pick we should trade up and get him

where r u in Australia?

yeah Mills is wicked, we may have a couple picked up in Ogilvy and Joe Ingles is nominating from the South Dragons in the NBL.

Every mock draft I see though has Monroe going like #3-5 if he decides to enter the draft. If thats the case the Knicks have as good a shot at Monroe as they do Rubio/Harden.

I don't know why they weren't able to swap draft picks with the Clippers for the Zach Randolph trade. Then you would be looking at a realistic opportunity for 1 of the top guys.
