    Default Danillo and Wilson Article

    By Myles A. Mills - Jan 20, 2009 9:59 am
The Knicks have two versatile, young up-and-coming studs in Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler, and debating whoís better is pointless, because we have them both. Danilo is 20 and Wilson is 21, and the future looks extremely bright. Pair those two with David Lee, who is almost making Donnie Walsh give him an extension, and you have an attractive supporting cast for a 2010 free agent. The skepticism in Knicks fans set in last night when as Danilo Gallinari recorded a season high 16 minutes, Wilson Chandler recorded a season low 19 minutes. But this shouldnít be the case in the future. One of Mike DíAntoniís objectives for the season is to monitor the growth of Wilson Chandlerís game, and at 21 years old and in practically his rookie season, he has shown he is the real deal. His 14.6 points and 5.3 boards should only improve as he matures. Chandlerís a great rebounder for his height, and his athleticism has made him the Knicks best defender.
Gallinari has only showed Knick fans a preview of what will come. But in this short span, he has shown he can shoot, lead, and simply make plays. Heís a pure shooter who lacks the necessary lateral quickness to be a great defender now, but his activeness and effort results in blocked shots and deflections. He seems to be able to handle the ball for 6′9 and heís already the Knicks best shooter. Thereís no need to compare the two or worry about Gallinariís development interfering with Wilson Chandlers, because for the first time in a long time, the Knicks have a legit young duo that could cause havoc in the league. If Gallinari continues to play well and provide a spark of the bench, look for Tim Thomasí minutes to reduce. Chandler was rooting on the bench for Danilo on Sunday afternoon just like the rest of his teammates and the fans at the Garden, and when he came in he provided lockdown defense on Derrick Rose in a pivotal play. Hopefully weíll see a lot more of the two together in the future.

I'm really hoping that these two become our superstars in the future. That way we wouldn't need so many guys coming to the knicks in later years.

That lineup is better than our current lineup with QRICH starting over Gallo.

I agree with your lineup knicksfancris.

Chandler has played the 2 spot before and is athletic enough to stay with any quick guard and can block more with the height advantage of being 6'8.
