the more i watch this team, the more i feel like, fuq 2010.

i know its early, but imo all we need is someone like thabeet.
(that's saying alot, considering every team needs someone like thabeet)
all this team needs is to learn how to play together better, by playing more with each other.
every game i watch duhon play, makes me realize he is the perfect fit for this team.he ain't no diva, he takes shots only when he needs to, he is a point who god forbid, does point guard things; chandler,is still young and still has those moments that make you go, wtf?but there is no denying he is a rock solid defender with a good offensive game when he decides to be that.gallo is showing improvement every game, with flair, range, handle; considering his age and his health issues.lee is lee.the double double machine, the most consistent knick, continues to improve his all around game, as he becomes an all star with each passing game(even though he probably won't get in).all we need is that stopper in the middle.all we need is thabeet.( so does everyone else besides the lakers, rockets, and magic)our bench play with nate and harrington(though all takes some crazy ass shots sometimes) has been very good.i'd love to have them back aswell. with the exception of the lakers, the dinosaurs are gonna start dying out sooner or later; the celtics are gonna get old, and so will duncan; its just a matter of time.
i don't give them more than 2 years of being great.coincidentally, that's when i could see our team, become that entity that feels the void, but all we need is thabeet.thabeet is all we need.:peace:

I get what you're saying, victory. But by picking up a superstar we can be that much greater. We could go from a team that wins one championship with the people we got, to winning multiple championships with one or two future hall-of-famers in our team.

does anyone here seriously believe the Knicks will win a championship in our lifetimes? 1994 was the closest our generation will probably ever see.

Long shot here, but Kobe can opt out this summer, we have a boatload of $$$ and a decent draft pick(s) (trade up!) ...... What if the 2009-2010 Knick's starting line-up looked like this -

Duhon
Bryant
Galilnari
Lee
Thabeet or Monroe

What if?.........

i know, but i think i prefer to have a complete team than just king james and his knicks of the round table.
my mind's been changing these last couple games and its because our young guys actually look like a team with a mission to win.
it's only a matter of time and experience before gallo, and chandler develope into very good players.
the whole superstar thing is flawed cause the inute he gets hurt, the team is done.
i'd rather have a very good 1 threw 5 then a superstar and a gang of supporting actors.
a complete team would be better suited to be successful long term.

imagine
duhon avg 12 pts a game, 9 ast
chandler avg 15 to 20 pts per game, 6 rebs,
gallo anywhere from 15 to 20 pts a game,5 rebs, 5 ast,
lee avg 15 to 20 pts a game, 10 rbs, 3 ast,
thabeet 10 pts a game, 12 rebs, 4 blocks,

i could all ready see the guys we have doing that next year,
and if we add somebody like thabeet
(if he turns out to be what everyone else thinks he'll be)
that would be a pretty complete squad,
while adding harrington and nates contribution of the bench,
( which could be anywhere from 25 to 30 points of the bench)

i believe the knicks will be the champions in either the 2010-2011 or 2011-2012 season, or both haha

I think this is a moot point anyway, as i highly doubt Thabeet or Monroe lasts until our pick. But i agree, replacing Jefferies with a guy like Thabeet combines with the growth of our young guys, would make us a 50 win team easily.

This is about winning championships, not just being a good team that makes the playoffs. The goal is multiple championships and just adding Thabeet will not give us even 1 championship.

We've got some good young talent, but who on this squad can take over a game when it counts? Who will deliver when it's Game 7, down by 1, with 10 seconds left?

You should not even be a knicks fan, let alone beeing here, if you don't belive our team will win a chip in our lifetime ( let alone next 3-5 years).

Unless, you are already 75-80 years old, speaking for himself.

If you want to sound funy, put a llooll after your sentence so real knicks fans know you were just kidding.

Damn, LJ beat me to it. We're going to need a player that can have the ball in his hands in a close game and make that shot under pressure. Right now I don't see that in any of our players. Maybe in the future, but guys like that aren't made in 2-3 years. So a lebron, wade or kobe type player is needed so that we can win those high pressure type of games.

The line-up you made is nice but it reminds me of those blazers from the late 90's that had all the talent but no go-to guy. They could never get over that hump because of that reason.

that's the point of having are youth progress instead of handcuffing their progress by adding someone else.having one superstar does not secure a championship.

duhon
chandler
gallinari
lee
thabeet

looks like the kinda team that could win 1 or more championships, IF gallo and chandler improve which many believe will.
i think gallo could become a type of bernard king(hopefully),
duhon as a type of mark jackson and thabeet as a type of ewing.
it's all about time.it's all about experience for our young players.i don't see the point in going totally free agent signing happy.if we can get one fine.but teams win championships.

i can see that player in gallo.he's got the touch and the audacity.and i see what the both of you are trying to say, but i don't think we should do it on at the expense of the guys we have, who have progressed.and kobe would only leav l.a. if he's outta his mind.

You're right, it shouldn't come at the expense of losing a guy like lee or nate or gallo.

I'm seeing a line-up like this:

Duhon
Wade/lebron
Chandler
Lee
(Big man of your choosing: draft, free agent)

Bench: gallo, nate, defensive specialist jeffries and others

By signing only one superstar we can have enough to sign nate and lee. Wether it is lebron or wade, it should be a star that is team first

I Concur

Sly1984 got it right on point. I would rather have the ability to keep our young talent, and then just get one superstar(Wade/Lebron). If the Knicks sign two superstars, it just feels like something Isiah Thomas would pull off. We would be risking too much of the Knicks future. This way the team chemistry would be very good, and we will only be adding a leader to lead the Knicks into the promiseland!

No, something isiah would do is exactly what you would like to do. Isiah brought in a total of 1 superstar in his time here. Stephon Marbury. How the team lookin now? Building a team around 1 superstar dont work no matter who you are unless your names Lebron (see cleveland cavs 07 trip to finals).

As much as I don't like Steph "the one superstar" Isiah braught in, he really had no one to play with (S.Francis?Curry?.... just being honest). By the time 2010 roles around Lee will be all-star material, Chandler will be a very solid NBA player and Gallo should be coming into his own as a legit threat to opposing teams, so 1 super star with a surrounding cast should be enough to keep us a top (or close to) the NBA. Not to mention a stacked bench! Just my :2cents:

Rather win with home grown talent

As a Knicks fan I would rather watch the team succeed in the long run with our home grown talent. And by 2010/2011 Lebron/Wade will be at another level, and with our young talent developing we should be good enough to challenge for a championship with the addition of one of those players. By 2010/2011 DLEE will be even more beast. Gallo could be playing like Dirk, and who knows how talented Chandler will get. The point I made about Isiah was that he wasted a lot of money for big name players who all failed to make us win as a team. Marbury, Randolph, Eddy Curry, Jerome James, etc... The Knicks need to learn from their past mistakes and understand that you can't buy a championship. That's why currently the Knicks have the highest payroll and we're challenging for the 8th spot in the playoffs.
