Nyk Logo The Upcoming Off Season? What To Do?

<table align="left" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody><tr> <td width="14"> </td> </tr> </tbody></table> What to do? The Playoffs are old news that much is clear. We only have 4 contracts that exceed the summer of 2009-10. I highlighted every player I'd trade if possible.
It just all seems like a big uncertain mess of a line up. Jeffries & The Fat Gaylord's contracts are huge blemishes. Apparently D' Antoni won't play Wilcox as he has zero interest in retaining his services at seasons end. Samb & Nichols (I guess) were acquired for trade purposes come the offsesaon? Just to make up the roster spots?

I think we should take the opportunity to trade Harrington while his numbers are up. Same applies to Hughes. (huge night tonight vs Milwaukee)

There's a lot of ifs & buts & what have you's, but I'd love to see the team almost completely dismantled. N8's made me a believer in his game as has Lee. Gallo needs another season before anything is clear as to his potential/ability. Chandler needs to wake up & realize he's a stud.

The rest of the team can **** right off.

The absolute, hands down, #1 priority for this coming offseason (or atleast before next year's trade deadline) is to trade Curry and/or Jeffries for an expiring contract(s). That will be the difference between a good team competing in the playoffs in 2010 and a championship in 2010.

The #2 priority is to resign Lee and Nate. The #1 priority greatly affects the ability to do this and still be a serious contender in 2010.

The #3 priority this offseason is to draft well in this year's upcoming draft. If we get the 9th pick in the draft, and Ricky Rubio is in the draft, we MUST trade our pick(s) and/or player(s) to move up to the 2nd/3rd pick in the draft. It's all about meshing talent with coaching styles. Rubio seems like the perfect PG for D'Antoni's system. Otherwise, draft a big man (Greg Monroe?).

i've always wanted Rasheed to come to the knicks, this off season he's a free agent, we should try to offer him a MLE contract and see what happens, Andre miller is a very solid choice.......

I'd love to see 'sheed come to NY, especially for the MLE. There were rumors a while back (a long time ago, he may have even still been in Portland) that he wanted to play here. He'd be a good signing for this team, so long as he can keep his head on straight (which for him, may be a struggle).

    Default Looking to the Future

I am less concerned about the immediate future, i.e., 2009, than about 2010 and thereafter.

It would be nice to eliminate Curry's 2010 $11.3M contract. i do not see that happening unless, for the first time, Curry gets into shape during the offseason and is productive in the period prior to the February 2010 trading deadline.

I am less concerned with Jefferies' $6.88M 2010 contract because he is serviceable and perhaps tradeable.

If we do not get very lucky in the lottery, then I agree we should try to trade up. Gallo and Chandler are untouchable in part because their 2010 contracts are not too substantial. A trade up would involve Lee or Nate and they will be restricted free agents which creates some difficulties. Rubio, if available in the draft would be a good fit, but we also need a big man.

Hughes has a $13.6M 2009 contract. He will be tough to move in a trade since he will be a free agent in 2010. So too for Harrington and his $10M plus 2009 salary. Since we do not want to take back 2010 salary, we are likely to receive players unwanted elsewhere with similar 2009 salaries. Why bother?

Other than in connection with the 2009 draft and attempts to move Curry and Jefferies, I do not see much happening until 2010.

Renting Rasheed for a year would help for that year, but why would Rasheed be willing to take only a one year contract? He does not have too many years left.

Curry has to play before he gets moved to show that he can still help someone, if not we r stuck with him. i doubt he will opt out. With the economy, teams are trying to shed salary and not tack on more. I don't know how this summer is going to play out for the free agents on that market. Gonna be tough for them to get a lot of money.

I would try to resign both our players ( Lee and and N8) and just let all other contracts expire.

We just have to draft a decent Center this year or PG. Gallinari should start palying more minutes to see if he is the real deal nite in and nite out.

I'm a big fan of Chandler, but he doesn't have will to want to outplay his opponents. Nate has that ability. Can you imagime what Nate would be like if he were 6'7" or 6'8"? Not just the athlitic ability, but his aggressive nature. This is what I don't see in Chandler. He's very good, but doesn't play the same night in and night out.

    Yep. Co sign.

I would really love to see Andre Miller on our team. Doesn't take unnecessary shots, and WAY better than Duhon.

Sheed, meh. I wouldn't be against it.

    Re-sign Lee and Nate.

    Draft well.

If we do all of these, we will be ready for something. I think its a must we make the playoffs next year if we want to attract anything in 2010.

He does play some very stone cold D. He could be the total package if he just had the "package"
