Fast Facts

 • The Magic are 5-2 in March
 • 86% of America picked the Magic to win this game
 • 14% picked the Knicks
 • The Knicks are 4-6 in the last 10
 • David Lee has 16.1 ppg this year
ESPN:
When New York Knicks guard Nate Robinson and Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard squared off in the slam dunk contest over All-Star weekend, the 5-foot-9 Robinson came out on top after jumping over his 6-foot-11 counterpart.
Less than two weeks later, Howard's size was way too much for Robinson and the Knicks. The Magic will likely again rely heavily on Howard against the undersized Knicks as the teams open a home-and-home series Saturday night in Orlando.Robinson defeated Howard in the dunk contest finals Feb. 14, leaping over Howard for one dunk that earned him a perfect score in the last round and helped him unseat the All-Star post player as the contest champion.Robinson and the Knicks, though, couldn't handle Howard's size Feb. 25. Howard had 24 points and 21 rebounds to lead Orlando (50-18) to a 114-109 road victory. He also had four blocked shots against a small and overmatched New York frontline. The Knicks (28-40) started an even smaller lineup in their last game Friday night. Robinson and point guard Chris Duhon started in the backcourt, with 6-foot-5 shooting guard Larry Hughes joining 6-foot-8 Wilson Chandler at forward. David Lee, who's 6-foot-9, remained at center.New York coach Mike D'Antoni might be compelled to make some adjustments, however, after watching his team struggle through a 121-94 home loss to Sacramento, which had lost all 28 of its games against the Eastern Conference before Friday.Robinson had 19 points to lead New York, which shot 39.8 percent. The Knicks, ranking near the top of the league with 105.6 points per game in their first season under D'Antoni, have been held to 92.0 during their three-game losing streak. After Friday's game, D'Antoni wondered if his players have hit a wall and laughed when asked if he could still envision a playoff push.New York's in 12th place in the East, 3 1/2 games behind Chicago, which currently holds the eighth and final playoff spot."We can't make a shot, we don't have legs to get by people and we don't have legs to stop anybody," D'Antoni said. "Just nobody has any physical presence."Magic coach Stan Van Gundy was far more pleased with his team's performance in a 106-80 win at Milwaukee on Wednesday night. Howard had 28 points, 12 rebounds and a career high-tying seven assists after being limited offensively in a loss to Cleveland the previous night."Coming off of yesterday, no hangover, great energy," Van Gundy said of Orlando's overall play. "Went up and down the court, played great defense -- and Dwight was tremendous."It's really hard to argue with our competitiveness. I think that there's a lot of things that we still need to improve on, but our guys come out and play for the most part. I think in terms of that, we're about as consistent as any team in the league."The Magic have won eight of their last 10 to pull within one game of Boston for second place in the East. They've also won five of six against the Knicks, with Howard posting three 20-20 games in that stretch.Robinson had a career scoring average of 6.9 against Orlando before leading New York with 32 points off the bench in the February loss. The Knicks and Magic square off at Madison Square Garden on Monday night before closing their season series in Orlando on April 10.

Opinions

The Magic have been on a roll this year, coming in everyone knew they would be good, and a team that could make some noise in the east. But so far the Magic have been among the best teams in League and are proving to be serious championship contenders. The Knicks on the other hand have been a surprise in their own way, coming in everyone wrote them off and said they would be at the bottom of the NBA. We have proven them wrong as we have been decent this year, up and down all year, and at times look good on the court and like a team that can/will compete for a playoff spot next year, at other teams we look lost an like the team of old. The Knicks have been a bad road team, but the Magic have been a great home team, expect this to be close early, and have an ugly finish.

jay.jpg

The Knicks need a win over a good team just to prove themselves, after the 2 debacles at the Garden vs the Nets and Kings. But it'll will be hard to come by against the Magic. Dwight Howard will have a field day. There's really no avoiding that, there's no one who can guard him. Our only hope is to double and triple team him, and quickly rotate to 3 point shooters. We also have to be wary of Hedo Turkoglu. He's a very good shooter, and also very proficient at getting to the basket. He's also one of the most clutch players in the league, so he will also be tough to handle. We really have very little hope of winning this game. Their much more talented than us, and we've been playing with no pride. My prediction: Knicks-105 Magic-120
opponents.jpg

wight vs. Nate is just dunk contest material. Has no real meaning in the season itself.

However, since this is a low-profile game... a Superman vs. KryptoNate could actually turn out to be the only story of the game.

Unless... The Knicks win... Ugh...

Believing when not believed in by others! Proving to be better than what others believe!
Fighting for what is said to be for others to fight for! Showing up when the others are there showing off!

That is your 08-09 Orlando Magic! Bring it!

We better not have any problems with this back to back NY stuff. This should be a gimme and hoping that Boston loses to SA, we can gladly move to no. 2

Magic win by 10+.

They seem confident.....

Howard is 21ppg and 14 rpg, compared to Lee's 16ppg. Howard has this easy, but if Lee has a great game it could be close.

308.jpg
Al Harrington PF Rashard Lewis
469.jpg

basketball-edge-even.gif

17ppg by Lewis, 20.2 ppg for Harrington. This is a very close matchup, they are so similar. Should be fun!

3194.jpg
Wilson Chandler SF Hedo Turkoglu
862.jpg
basketball-edge-mod-right.gif

Hedo has this if he plays a decent game, He is avergaing 17ppg Compared to 14ppg by Chandler.
356.jpg
Larry Hughes SG Courtney Lee
3445.jpg

basketball-edge-mod-left.gif

Should be very easy, lets take advantage and get Nate in to dominate.

2377.jpg
Chris Duhon PG Rafer Alston
11.jpg

basketball-edge-mod-right.gif

Alston is new, but he has talent that Duhon doesn't. Duhon is a better passer but Alston can drive to the basketbal plushe can make the game winning shot. We all know Duhon can't do that.

JPZ17's Player Pressure
Which Knicks is under the most pressure to succeed????

color-fog-lights.jpg

The answer: Mike D'Antoni

30066.jpg

Knick fans are upset, if we lose this bad they will boo him. Mike has done a good job with the Knicks so far that no one thought was possible, but now its time for that playoff push the Mike could'nt ever do.

JPZ's Inspiring Knicks Quote

deja vu all over again...a player(qrich) gets hot and then gets benched, and then hughes continues to get minutes for no reason considerin his D is overrated as well(loses his man when D is needed the most)

if the knicks are actually lookin to showcase hughes now so they could trade him for some1 in the offseason, itd be wiser to bench him completely as his past value and name would be worth more than his current game

Save your approval for the 2010-11 season....ask the Phoenix Suns Fans do they approve of Dantoni's Postseason coaching methods???

I do not approve of Mike D'Antoni. It is his and Donnie Walsh's fault why the Knicks are headed for another lottery season.

The Knicks would have made the playoffs this year, had they drafted
Brook Lopez, and kept Marbury, Crawford, and Randolph.

Larry Hughes sucks
Al Harrington is not good enough to lead a team(not his fault, he's just not good enough).
Cuttino Mobley didn't even get to play for the Knicks.
Tim Thomas was barely used
Chris Wilcox barely gets any minutes.
Stephon Marbury got 19-20 million for not playing, when he was in shape and ready to go.

Patrick Ewing should have been the head coach, not D'Antoni.

CO-SIGN. D'Antoni has improved on last year's record, but, before last year, for those whose memory extends beyond what they hear from game announcers, some of us know that in 2006-2007 and 2005-2006, we won 33 games. This year, we might not even win 33 games.

Why? Because D'Antoni traded our players for a 2010 plan, which will probably fail. Walsh has said that D'Antoni has been allowed to influence what players we currently have, because he believes coaches should make roster decisions.

Like ABCD said, we should have kept our players, who have only underachieved because they have not had a real big man, to stabilize the middle and give us low post scoring. With Brook added to that lineup, we would have, in my opinion, gotten any seed, from 4-6. Unfortunately, Brook's dad didn't play with Mike D'Antoni.

And there's no way, whatsoever, that you can say that D'Antoni is the best coach in the NBA. It's very difficult to rank coaches, because it's impossible to know what a coach is really like, from one's couch or even from the seats of a venue. You have to be on the bench, listening to the advice, looking at the plays, you have to be at the practices, as well, in order to really know what a guy is about. The best coaches are ones that use lots of logic and base their decisions on the fundamentals of the game, with sensitivity to specific situations. They also are able to get their players to buy into, and adjust to, what they want.

Cosign!
Both Conferences are twice as weak than last season....which mean (20-10 stat) Zach Randolph having a winning season on an above .500 team would've been easier to trade this offseason for a valuable player.
Letting $30M (Marbury & Curry) sit out the entire season on any bussiness aspect could never get an approval from the bussiness management point of view.
And thats not the half of it....14 Knick contract players came to training-camp healthy to perform this season with the note of confidence that "everyone starts out fresh with a clean slate".
At the 12th game of the season the Knicks only had 7-players listed to play....but their salary-cap ($100M) was still the same at paying all 15 contract players for that 12th game.
The Knicks lied to the public about Marbury refusal to play and Arbitration forced the Knicks to waive Marbury so that he can play for the next team this season.
So how is it easy to approve Walsh & Dantoni (escapades) when they were well unprepared for the Knick positions inwhich they took. We all knew through public sports media both were on the edge of being FIRED in the 2008 offseason on their previous jobs.

The Knicks played a decent "Team-Ball" game vs the Magic....although the Knicks loss 103-110....Breen & Frazier could not help from repeating throughout the Magic game "What happen to the team that played against the Nets & Kings?".
The Knicks scored 51 points in the second-half however....the Knicks fouling-defense only allowed the Magic to score 51 points in the second-half too.

Larry Hughes did not get any playingtime in the second-half of this Magic game....which gave "Duhon & Nate" back their main job they started at the start of the season of being the "Quarterback" and leaders at the point for this Knick team to be competitive vs any competition throughout the second-half of the Magic game.
Larry Hughes averaging 31 minutes of playingtime in the Knicks last 15 Knick games as a "Starter and Finisher" took the Knicks out of the playoff race (13 games below .500)....plus had his teammates give-up performing as early as the first-quarter.....something every Knick-fan witness already in the last four seasons with "Marbury & Crawford" leading the point.
All I can say is "Larry Hughes" left toe injury is 15 games late....Herb Williams & Q.Richardson should've spoke up weeks before the "Nets & Kings" game.

Wilcox performance showed that he was the best player we received during the trading deadline for this Knick team inwhich deserved decent playingtime to "JELL" with his new Knick teammates as a backup bigman. His low post performance on defense vs the Magic (6.10 and bigger 3-starters) made them spread out their offense to score from the peremeter to win this tight scoring game (Dwight Superman Howard fouled-out with 4 minutes left in the game).

P.S. It would've made alot of sense 16 games ago to add Wilcox 6-fouls, rebounding put-backs, and slashing to the hoop performance in our weak bigmen rotation of Lee, Harrington, and Jefferies....rather than just let him play in 12 games averaging 9 minutes of garbage time.

^^^ well Larry Hughes didnt play in the second half because he has an injured toe, but i agree about wilcox. Wilcox Has to be our starting center, he deserves it and he's not even gonna be here next year

TYPE-A
If by approve you mean like his coaching style- after watching most of our games this season I'd say no I don't.

D'Antoni needs to learn to adapt and start running a more consistent half court attack. Stressing Defense wouldn't help, although he seems to be, he still doesn't have the right players yet (I Guess):boohoo:
