Mark Berman blogs and Marka.com (not Mark Berman's website) confirms discussions re Rubio for DLee + N8 via sign and trade next week...

"After Ricky Rubio skipped his introductory press conference with the Wolves, Marca.com says that discussions on a possible trade to send Rubio to the Knicks are under way. The report cites sign-and-trades of David Lee and Nate Robinson although such a deal could not be consummated until after the July moratorium is lifted.
Marca.com says it can confirm these negotiations to send Rubio to New York but there is no way to independently verify the report.
Marc Berman reports on the situation in his New York Post blog."

translated from Marka.com, Spain sports page (using freetranslation.com), somehow David Lee translates as David Read, Rubio as Blond.

"In these moments, Ricky Blond continues in New York negotiating an exit to its future. It has it clearly: will not play in Minnesota (left unmistakable signs the night of the 'Draft', as when they asked for its preferences and, while praised to Oklahoma or Sacrament, of Minnesota only said that did "a lot cold") and works to be gone. Where? That is the question.

According to sources close to the player and to the NBA, Minnesota already knew that Ricky would not play there when chose it. The fact of to have fallen to the number five authorized to the Wolves to choose a player with a great value in the market, with the one that to do a 'sign and trade' (to sign and to transfer) with another team for obtain a veteran player. With this option, the Catalonian player will have a lot that to say on his future.

The ideal setting is to do a transfer to New York. David Reads and Nate Robinson seem the most probable currencies of change

The ideal setting, and MARK.com can confirm that is being negotiated, is to do a transfer to New York. David Reads and Nate Robinson (both finish contract, but also we would be speaking of a situation of 'sign and trade') the most probable currencies of change seem. The Wolves have covered itself the backs in the position of base with the election of Jonny Flynn in the six, so an 'one' is not their priority. The statements of their 'general manager' David Kahn, in which said that its interest is to cause to play next to Flynn and to Ricky, they are not more than strategies of market. They have no sense basketball speaking.

A sample more than the divorce of Ricky with Minnesota is that Spanish will not be in the traditional press conference that the elections of the 'Draft' give in the city of origin of the franchise. Yes they will be there Jonny Flynn and Wayne Ellington, the other two first rounds of the Wolves, but not Ricky. Symptomatic.

Why to the five? Ricky, like he himself declared, he was very excited with going to Sacrament. He was the only franchise to which he visited and with the one that did a smooth one 'workout'. He why was not there? In the first place, some sources aim at that their I coach (individual, without companions) he was not of the all satisfactory, and they considered an option of risk their election.

First, by their financial instability: nobody knows what will happen with their clause, and during the afternoon previous to the 'Draft' various American lawyers, in representation of different franchises, they consulted expert Spanish lawyers in sports right on a possible responsibility civil subsidiary of the clubs NBA in a hypothetical suit between the player and the Penya.

And second, because its 'general manager', the veteran one Geoff Petrie (14 seasons in the charge), finishes contract this campaign. A type that has just done an acquisition of risk with the coach Paul Westphal could not be permitted that its number four went not to the NBA the following year, or gave economic problems, or... Its job was played and there were too many risks. And to Ricky they did him 'the Easter'.

Although Ricky and its environment they have spoken to return to Europe, their first objective continues being to play next year in the NBA

Objective NBA right now, although Ricky and its environment they have spoken to return to Europe (an evident option, and there will enter its situation with the Penya, the efforts that quieran to do for him the large European clubs. ..), the reality is that its first objective continues being to play next year in the NBA. And all their efforts of their agent Give Fegan they are centered in New York.

Its salary, a net approximate one of 2.200.000 euro by the two years guaranteed, is insufficient to pay a clause of 4.7 million euro that, it do not we forget, July 1 passes to be of 6 million. It has confirmed to MARK.com the own father of the player, Esteve, the agreement with the DKV Joventut is a possibility more than feasible, and the positions are more close. To where would descend the Penya? That is the question, but seems little probable that be down of the four million. A source very well informed figure its debt with Estate in six million.

Many things by closing: to obtain the pair to New York, to reduce the clause, to do that all square... And the limit is June 30, when its c?usula becomes (more) prohibitive. We will continue having 'soap Ricky', at least during some days. "

Minny will include Etan Thomas in the deal, and NY will send over Mobley's contract- that saves Minny NINE million next year to go out and sign someone (HT from ORL?).... We'll probably also send over Larry Hughes, who can help Ellington not be rushed into things.

Flynn (Nate)
Hughes (Ellington)
HT
Jefferson
Love

That's a solid starting 5, one that would instantly put Minny in line to make a playoff push.

Of course, we would have to throw in a 1st rounder in 2011.

So, Nate Robinson, Larry Hughes, Cutino Mobley & a 1st rounder in 2001 for Rubio & Etan Thomas.

It might even boil down to David Lee instead of Nate? Who knows.

you all laughed when I said Rubio is just saying the right things to the media until he is traded to the knicks. aswell as when i said he will be traded for nate plus some. wellllll the story finally breaks.

larry hughes will most likely NOT be added to the trade. more than likely it will be Nate (sign and trade prob around 8 million a year) plus Cuttino Mobleys contract AND.. wilson chandler. who they will use as their swingman..

in return we are gonna get Brian Cardinal, and more than likely shelden williams. IF IF IF David agrees to this deal then Etan will be added as well.

now the big if in all of this is IF David and Nate want to play in Minny. and with Love and Jefferson in the front court.. id say no. David would probably rather play for Portland (like Nate) or OKC even possibly Detroit.

I doubt DW gives Chandler to Minny. For one thing, they aren't in love with Rubio.... They liked Curry & Evans a lot more. They want Rubio, but if the price was too steep they will turn their attention to Nash or Kidd.

I think Nate Robinson is a target- and I do think he'll play wherever they pay him and guarantee him minutes. We'll absorb Cardinal's contract and send them Mobley, freeing up anothe r9 mil for them.

After that.... I guess they'll choose Hughes or Harrington..... MAYBE we toss in a 2012 1st rounder or something.

AGAIN, Knicks are in a good position here. We'll shoot for Rubio, but wont be crying if we can't land him. They know it might take 3-5 years for Rubio to become a legit starting PG.

They might actually prefer to grab Nash.

This is as far as NYK might go:

1- Nate Robinson & David Lee

or

1. Nate or Lee, plus HUghes or Harrington, plus Mobley's contract (and we'll take back Thomas or Cardinal's contract).

This is/ will be or final offer(s).

There is no justifying Minny stupidness, which threw a hard curve-ball in this draft.....
Stephon Curry college performance made him the 3rd to 6th pick in this draft class.
Minny traded to have two lower picks (5 & 6) before draft night to select two of the best available players they felt would Mesh well with their upcomming young star players 6.10 Jefferson & 6.10 Love.
To select 4 PG's out of this draft shows they have some poor-poor scouts that could not figure out the best two PG's that would fit their team.

5 (5) Ricky Rubio
6 (6) Jonny Flynn
18 (18) Ty Lawson
28 (28) Wayne Ellington
15 (45) Nick Calathes
17 (47) Henk Norel

Minny now have 21 players on their roster after draft night with no SF on their 21 player roster.....not selecting SF-Young whom was forced to play PF the last two seasons in college showed.....how slow and incomplete the Minny organization has become in NBA B-Ball.

If the Knicks trade a proven up-comming star player (SF-Wilson Chandler) to such a Bum Organization Minny for an unproven semi-pro Euro league player (Ricky Rubio).
My friends and I will set up and form a "Fire Walsh & defenseless-Dantoni" outside of MSG throughout next season (we all are hard core Knick-fans that work close to MSG).

Donnie Walsh did very well on (2009) draft night by trading lockerroom poison Q.Richardson (should've been traded in the 2008 draft night along with Crawful), Walsh selecting a Knick need with the 8th pick a BIGMAN (6.10 Jordan Hill), then buying a pick for a 6.2 combo-guard Douglas to challenge Larry Hughes for playingtime was all good.
Walsh better not mess up this decent draft night by getting Ricky Rubio draft rights this offseason.
I rather watch Rubio first two seasons in the NBA on the next team....the same with Gallo.

Now Walsh have to sit down with Nate & Lee to resign them to reasonable salaries by giving them both the rights to their trade options in a contract. To sign and trade Lee or Nate would mean taking on an additional contract inwhich adds to the 2010 salary cap plus a new attitude to deal with in the lockerroom, practice, and on the court.

The GS Warriors coach Don Nelson want two fast combo-guards running the point along side of Steven Jackson (Ellis & Curry). They tried slowa$$ Jamal Crawful but he was two slow and had a bad habit of dribbling when he should be passing the ball.

The Sacremento Kings 4th selection of 6.5 Tyreke Evans should've been an eye opener (Red Flag) about all the top PG's in this draft that came to the Kings draft camp to compete.
The Kings were in desperate need of a PG and chose to go with Spain 6.3 Sergio, a 3 year NBA veteran that average 13 mpg in his career, rather than any of the PG's that came to their camp with their 4th and 23rd pick.

The Sacremento Kings 4th pick should've been a warning to Minny....they have NO excuses...<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

I agree with you Kiya, it would be a mistake to trade two players that we all know what they can do in an NBA court for a young man that has only played in Europe and we don't know how he would react to this reality.
In my opinion, Rubio is not as good as most people say, but let's wait and see his development, but for now, far from NY I hope.
