    Trade Icon Bulls, Lee S&T

Marc Stein reports that the Bulls could be one of the favorites to acquire David Lee by way of a sign-and-trade deal with the Knicks. "Keep your eye on Chicago," a well-placed insider told Stein.
Obviously this is extremely brief, but it raises the question as to who NY would acquire seeing it's an actual sign & trade.

Heinrich is out of the picture obviously.

I'd assume that our proposal would be something like:

    Salmons + Miller
    <table align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" width="650"><tbody><tr><td align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" valign="top" width="67">

    </td> <td bordercolor="#CCCCCC" align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" valign="middle" width="1"> </td> <td align="left" bgcolor="#ffffff" valign="top" width="320">Extremely versatile... Brad Miller
    <table align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" width="650"><tbody><tr><td bordercolor="#CCCCCC" align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" valign="middle">Position: C

</td> <td bordercolor="#CCCCCC" align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" valign="middle"> </td> <td align="left" bgcolor="#ffffff" valign="top" width="330">One of the best centers in the league... Great size... Long arms... Excellent passing skills... Good rebounder... Impressive mid-range shooter... Was a much better defender in the past... Lacks athleticism... For

    Lee + Jeffries maybe?

    Or Miller & Tyrus Thomas

    <table align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="1" width="650"><tbody><tr><td bordercolor="#CCCCCC" align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" valign="middle" width="253">Position: PF

</td> <td bordercolor="#CCCCCC" align="left" bgcolor="#cccccc" valign="middle" width="1"></td> <td align="left" bgcolor="#ffffff" valign="top" width="292">Extremely explosive... It'd be great for us at the 2 spot. Salmons can ball. More so offensively than defensively. He's listed as a 3 but he played @ the 2 last year with Chicago and had some very good games.

Miller, myeh..... Good passer, plays a versatile game and (like Salmons) comes off the books in the nick of time.

I can't really see much else happening??????? Even if we trade Jeffries like we need to, it becomes an instant stale mate.

Probably a pointless thread in the end but it's the off-season & I'm bored of all the non-movement in our roster.

We want Jeffries but we also dont' want John Salmons' contract which eats into 2010. I don't see the Knicks taking on any 2010 contracts other than Sessions

No more trading with the Bulls, it hasn't helped us so far.

"Yeah this is never going to happen lol

Think about it, you think donnie is waiting for a sign and trade, to bring back equal amount of salary for money he isnt willing to just sign Lee for ?

It makes no sense for him to not want to sign lee for 12 mil, but yet hell trade Lee away for contracts equal to 12 mil.

Donnie is going to either let Lee go away for nothing ( which will never happen because no team is going to give Lee his asking price, hence a month into free agency and he is yet to receive an offer).

Or Lee is going to sign for 8 million over 4 years Like Donnie believes he is worth once Lee realizes he isnt going to get traded, and no one else is going to give him 12 mil a year like his agent keeps telling him.

    Good work Donnie

    End result

Lee is back on the knicks for four more years at 8 million a year.

NY takes back dead weight in James & Tim Thomas (contract still on the books even though he was cut) along with Tyrus Thomas & 2010 1st round pick for DLee and Jeffries.

Along with losing DLee, we would essentially have to eat $13M in dead contracts but would get rid of Jeffries contract and get a 1st rd pick and Tyrus Thomas.

If Thomas performs well, we probably could turn around and trade him during the year to a contender for a late 1st round pick. That would leave us with two 1st round picks in 2010 and would not have Jeffries or DLee on our books.

Because lee is a base year player any sign and trade is very hard to do and require more than 2 teams.

If he sign for 10mill let say his outgoing value is 10mill but his incoming value is 5mill. That means that the most we can in return is 6.35mill(5mill+25%+100k)

So jefferies and lee for any chicago package is not realy possible.

    Danutz...

So would you consider Jeffries and Lee for deadweight (james and tim thomas..works under your scenario) + Chicago's 1st round pick if you were Walsh?

It definitely hurts our team next year, but we would probably end up with a pick in the 22-25 range in the first round plus we would get rid of Jeffries contract. Personally, I would do it as the goal is 2010 and it would give us a pick next year. I also would like to see Gallo starting next year and this would give him the opportunity to see more playing time.

If Walsh pulled this off, he could focus on signing Nate to a deal at $4M/year and then see what he can do by packaging Curry and Mobleys insurance-covered contract to clear out even more space in 2010

I heard that Donnie might use pieces from the Bulls, like maybe Salmons or James Johnson, to offer to the Wolves for Rubio...

Like I said without a third team is not working.

Lee+Jeffries for James and Thomas works only from the knicks side in prospective of what salary they can get back but it does not work for chicago. For them Lee will count as a 10mill contract + Jefferies 6.5mill thats 16.5mill out and 13mill coming in. That will fall short by about 100k.

I went to trade machine and since it dont show Lee(because of his status) and Tim Thomas(cuz he was cut by the bulls) I used similar paid players and the trade failed.

As for 22-25 pick(i belive they will actually be more in like 18-20range next year) although is nice you can buy those or give less then lee for them.
