blame agent barleycorn
Agent Barleycorn is holding up the works on David Lee. He still wants his percentage of $10-$12Million, what he THINKS DLEE is worth, and if the Knicks won't give it up, he'll just keep on trying to forge sign-and-trades until training camp begins Sept 28. Hence, assume something will happen within 10 days.... we've waited this long, why not wait some more?
This agent exemplifies what is destroying not just the NBA, but professional sports on the whole. The concept of team goes flying out the window, as agent does best to get most for his player, irregardless of what the market is offering, what the player means to the team, or the concept of salary cap.
David Lee is going to be under scrutiny this season to show he's worth the bucks. Barleycorn has essentially turned DLEE into a 1-year player, along with N8, Harrington, Duhon, Hughes and Darko.
With Curry and Jefferies going to be on the market, I can't see how this team is going to jell this year, with 2010 looming to be the year of WTF.
