Politics of Our Rotation

I was on RealGM last night and saw an interesting thread.

In summary it supposed that Eddy Curry's imminent return was preventing the playing time of Darko.

Why?

Basically it was that because of the money invested in Curry and the fact that we need to dump his salary, we've neglected to play Darko lest he play well. For if he was to play well, then we'd be in a bind without the playing time for Curry.

Dunno, interesting idea about how contract amount and length affect playing time.

Darko hasn't really gotten his chance, I don't know if he's not working hard in practice or D'Antoni just loves Lee at center.

I think it might be a combination of both. Either way, he doen't seem comfortable with giving Darko or Hill and meaningful minutes. After having a 90% losing percentage you would think he'd rock the boat a lil bit.

are we really defending darko hahaha
We are not playing Darko because he SUCKS
and he has sucked since he came into the league

get off it guys

we got darko because we had a chance to get rid of Q brick

and allow our younger guys to step in at the 3 spot

Darko isnt playing because

well

he sucks

Does he suck anymore than Jared Jeffries? I don't think that's even possible.

Honestly yes he does suck more than Jefferies.

Jefferies has no skill what so ever and yet has logged significant minutes his entire career
here is why

Darko was born with an unbelievable natural skill set and has sucked at 7,1 his entire career.

Jefferies was a lynch pin player on a winning team for 2 playoffs in a row in washington.

Like most knicks role players forced into a starting position he looks much much worse than he really is because as a team any one who puts up his numbers looks horrible at 1 win and 9 losses.

Darko is ineffective and always has been

Atleast Jefferies has some level of track record

an NCAA championship player
A starter on a winning playoff level basketball team
and Hustles twice as hard on defense as any player on our team.

I know jefferies technically sucks in terms of being a starter

but you plug him into any top ten team I bet you he is more effective as a role player than Darko could ever be.

NBA oponents know a million ways to score on Darko.....plus Dantoni is clueless on how to post up a bigman dowlow so Darko dont have a scoring game. For every shot Darko block 3 to 4 oponents score on him.

However, I rather have Darko in the lockerroom than a fake Q.Richardson.

smartest post ever by kiyaman.

but I do think Mike D knows how to post up a big man haha
shaq did very well in his system until Kerr dismantled a top 5 nba team
Thanks to nash and gentry reintroducing Dantonis system they are playing well again. Buttt. Mike can coach man I dont get how people keep pinning our problems on him, THere is not a coach in the league who could get this basketball team to win ( timing ) ( expiring contracts) ( no pg, no sg, Weak defense ) ( no knock down three point shooters except gallo) ( very very young) ( no locker room presence) We are just a bad basketball team. Mike D has no hope with this team, if you give Mike D any top ten roster in the league he gets into the playoffs easy. This is a player's league, not a coaches, bad teams are bad teams for a reason because the players are bad. Every coach in the league is a great coach, theres a reason they are coaching an NBA team. You are telling me Byron scott is a bad coach, or that Larry brown was the reason the knicks sucked a few years back. Come on man

Not to nitpick but wasn't he a finalist? I should just look it up but off the top of my head I thought Indiana lost to Maryland featuring Juan Dixon, Chris Wilcox, Steve Blake and Lonnie Baxter that year

u make a strong point but u have some bum coaches with super flaws in the league. The Nets coach Frank has been the biggest BUM in the league since the day he was hired as a headcoach.
Byron Scott is a miracle worker headcoach like Rick Carlisle.
And yes, Larry Brown coached a 23 win season on purpose to get Isiah Thomas fired.
Isiah Thomas lost his players before he became head coach with his favoritism to his pet-player Marbury.
The Knicks were suposed to be a rebuilding-team the moment Isiah Thomas was fired. With new mangement, new coaching staff, and alot of young players.
Mike Dantoni was a failure in Denver with young players, and has never shown any coaching development in young players or any bigmen in the NBA.
Dantoni had nothing to do with the developement of Amare.

And Dantoni got swept in the first round (5 games) with Shaq & Amare by Duncan & Kurt Thomas.

its a shame because Darko can actually block shots and rebound and MIke D fails to understand why he is here in the first place!...his salary is over 7 million so use him...we have no pure centers so use him!

Mike D has his head up his azz on a number of calls as head coach.
Mike D's Knicks resume:

1-never playing marbury
2-over playing Duhon last year
3-making Duhon and Al Harrington the captains
4-failed to teach defense in every way
5-not getting a defensive specialist coach
6-benching shot blockers in Hill and Darko
7- Benching Gallo, Douglas, and Hughes until they had to impress with great performances
8- Being the coach of a record worse than any of Isiah Thomas' years.
9- THIS IS THE WORST....not knowing what the problem is and how to solve it...being in a complete fog to why we are 1-9!

its fine that you can list all of the things Mike D did wrong with a talentless knick team

Again you guys swing back to your objections to Mike D based on how bad the team is

why dont you argue against my argument which was

No coach in the league can win with the players we have.

end of story.

BULLSHUUUT!
:boohoo::boohoo::barf:

u could've coached these Knick players to a 4-6 start...
Stop justifying Dantoni as if u dont know anything about B-Ball.....
Not having a starting backcourt tandem of guards when the season begin mean tanking in the worst way.
Our 1-9 start......is as if Dantoni is getting back at Donnie Walsh for not getting him a certain player this offseason.

It is bad enough that Dantoni does not have a defensive-plan to stop any of the Knicks oponents in the 2nd half of the game, or a bigman plan to post-up down low to score or pick up a foul......but to start the first game of the season with a 6.8 Wilson Chandler as a starting guard when u have 4 guards on your roster in Duhon, Nate, Hughes, and Douglas.
:smokin::smokin::smokin:

There is not one reason why Larry Hughes should not have started all 10 games for the Knicks.....even if Hughes had to be pulled out after the first 3 minutes of the game.....winning coaches been doing this to certain players for decades. Plus we had one of the top-3 6th-man gaurds in the league to replace pulling Hughes out early in the first quarter.
There is no excuse for Dantoni failure when u know how important the guards role are on a winning team.

I never understand Kiya.

He keeps talking about Larry Hughes blew our season last year, but he is so good at the same time that he needs to play.

Make up your mind!

I wondered the same thing....I honestly think D'Antoni really feels that Lee is a good Center even though he gets dominated and can't guard anyone.

I think I'm right because Mike D has had many opportunities to put Lee with Darko or Lee with Hill to play center but Lee always plays with a true forward in either Harrington or Jeffries.
