Another possible team giving away a championship to someone else.In the past few years we've seen Minnesota give away a title to Boston and we've seen Memphis give one to the LA Lakers as well.
Questions to Mr.Stern: Isn't the salary cap, which you truly love, suppose to serve as a system that allows teams to re-sign the superstar players the've drafted? And wasn't this system established to prevent teams from monopolyzing the league by snatching as many superstar players from other teams through free agency? Why then should any team, who is over the salary cap, be prohibited from signing players but teams, who already have superstar players, be allowed to get better by receiving more superstar players through trades? Shouldn't there be a rule that prohibits contending teams, who already have superstar players, from receiving more superstar players through trades?
You wonder why there has only been 8 different NBA teams throughout the league that have won championships in the past 25 years.Only in the NBA can a team manipulate an economic system to go an entire decade being one of few contending teams.This is why many people complain about the NBA being so lopsided in terms of talent.When you give a player such as Dwayne Wade too much star treatment that same player will force his team's owner to convince another owner that giving away his franchise player is the right thing to do.When will the NBA be about the contingency of it's thirty teams competing every night and not about the egos of individual players?

good post.personally i think the nba should cut down the number of teams and get rid of the salary cap and the draft completely.obviously they should maintain the lux tax so as teams don't over do it with out any financial repercussions. global football doesn't have a cap, and its the most popular sport in the world.problem is stern thinks like a socialist instead of a capitalist.professional sports has as much to do with media, popularity, and making money as it does with athletic achievement.the knicks, bulls lakers, and celtics are the most critical franchises in the nba because of the places those teams call home.if they are the most visual teams in the nba and the rest of the world, the nba would make alot more money.
another place that could get amar'e by giving up slightly better shit than miami is Cleveland.ferry and kerr are butt buddies from the spurs days, and i would not put it pass that douche kerr to gift rap a championship to ferry just to spite mike d'antoni and donnie's effort to bring lebron here.i think exprings and jj hickson would be a better deal than j o'neal.if that happens ladies and gentleman, we are ****ed.bottom line.i all ready see bosh going to miami, so while the eastern powers are realigning, we'll having david "culo!" lee to show for it.awesome.

Well David Stern does have to approve all trades to ensure they aren't too one-sided... Of course this is pretty one sided but O'neal is still a perennial 20-10 guy and he is an expiring where Amare has a player option which could dick on the Heat's chances of signing any other superstar free agent in the offseason (and let's face it, Amare ain't that good that he's worth throwing away a chance at LBJ for)...
I dunno, this trade feels pretty lopsided to me but if the Suns cleared enough cap space to combine Nash/LBJ they'd be laughing all the way to the WCF (not that I think Lebron would go West but still).
